How exactly do apartments work?

I think the "interiors are in proper places, just hide other players" theory is true as I was in my apartment when money bags starring appearing out of thin air away from me, most likely from some hacker giving themselves millions so they can buy everything. At least they weren't blowing up everyone, heh.

That's just a glitch. Probably 2 people entered at the same time and and for some reason were given the same instance ID.

They can't be the same apartment as the apartment textures are stored on your device, not the server. For example, two players stood next to each other looking at the Maze Bank Tower aren't looking at the same one. Let's say they both have the games installed on HDDs, the bulding is a series of small magnets polarised as 0s and 1s on a spinning platter in each person's respective device. The x,y,z coordinates of player 2are just sent across to player 1 so it appears they are stood next to each other.

Once again we're trying to apply real world physics to a game.

Ok, sorry guys, I think I got it now and it's really not that complicated. I think I misunderstood Barry in the first place.

Think of apartments as lobbies in lobbies or virtual machines. Whenever you enter your apartment, you get a apartment session id. Every information is shared between the apartment session and the outside world. The outside world does not see you because of walls, you are not invisible at all. If someone else enters the same apartment, he either enters yours and gets the same session id or a different one by entering his own apartment. Different apartment ids dont share information with each other, but still with the rest of the lobby.

People outside dont have an apartment id and see everything, if walls dont prevent this, what they usually do. If they spawn things into an apartment, those things are not linked to a certain apartment id. However, if someone calls in a stripper in the regular way, it is.

Garages and LSC must work the same way.

I was also wrong about the interior of the new high end apartment. As far as i know now, there is only one below Tinsel Towers. Proper portal solution here, no portal for the other apartments at all.

Pretty simple system, guess I was just confused because of the different ways of interior placement.

This is an interesting topic.

The bigger question is: What happens when your character figures all of this out?

Not you. Your character.

I was killed once by a heli while standing at the window.

if they're just visuals that doesn't make sense.

if I was in a new apartment then would that not be possible?

That's possible?

How do the phone deposits work in this game? I mean my character doesnt actually put dollar bills into his cell phone. I'm like seriously wondering guys.

Shhh don't over think it. It's R* logic ;)

He will never do. He can't even walk a straight line.

Did not know this thread, thanks for posting. It absolutly makes no sense that the older high end apartments are in the right place and everything else is not, but I guess only the developers know the reason for that.

I think it depends on the entry point, it separates who are visible to who.

Then in high end apartments the building gets removed and the interior is loaded, they should be the same place you see out of.

Garages, medium and low end apartments are located in the sky and only one of each as you can't see out of it.

Ask funmw2, he is pretty good with V natives.
