michiel1705
So I'm thinking of buying GTA V on pc, but before i make my decision I have a few questions about the online - Is the community better than on consoles? (are there less annoying screaming 5 year olds?) - How is the matchmaking compared to the console version? (Is it possible to get more than 2 people in your job after waiting 5 minutes?) - Are there as much sh*tty "ninja parkour melee fight 900000$ 80000 rp" deathmatches as on consoles? This is basically the reason why i stopped playing the console version, 90% of the jobs I find are horrible This may make it sound as if I hate online but these are just the issues that i have with it. I was wondering if these problems are less existant on the pc version. RoG Goat
undeadpolice
On PC online feels like a ghost town, Ohh ya btw some of the 5 year olds has migrate to PC side. Compare to WOW community this is slightly worst. Edited June 3, 2015 by undeadpolice

PCMasterRace46
Unfortunately some of those 5 year olds build or play on daddies PC too. I just rpg or sticky bomb them and move on. All the while flipping them off with vastly superior hardware. MCMXCII and ClareXoBearrx3R9
jimmyriddler
Almost every session I join now will have at least 1 hacker, I played last night and someone teleported in front of me, destroyed me and my vehicle with just an explosion from nowhere even though I was in passive mode, minutes before that I was playing survivor and one of the people had god mode on, so even that was ruined. I've now stopped playing online for now as its just pointless. Hopefully the next patch will fix the ridiculous amount of hackers. I really dont care.. They made the game fun sometimes.. I was weakly trolling people with a Dubsta 2 and a ignition bomb.. I did notice today a idiot with a trainer program come in and blew every one up.. I was in the car I mentioned and I noticed something parcular.. When the idiot killed me in the car I wasnt able to recover the car.. it says something along the lines of need to insure the vehicle bla bla.. If you noticed what I was doing in the beginning this car is insured and should have respawned when calling the ins company.. But didnt.. That is the only gripe I have wit people who use a trainer to have fun.. Other than that I am fine.. And why yes, yes I troll people.. mostly out of bordem but because it is funny as sh*t.. Sveittjpong
- Is the community better than on consoles? (are there less annoying screaming 5 year olds?)Coming from both PS3 and PS4. Behaviourwise its more or less the same. There's a lot less kids shouting over the mic, people breathing into their mics or just talking with other people in the room with their mics constantly on though, which is a huge plus. - How is the matchmaking compared to the console version? (Is it possible to get more than 2 people in your job after waiting 5 minutes?)Exactly the same as it is on consoles. A waiting-simulator. - Are there as much sh*tty "ninja parkour melee fight 900000$ 80000 rp" deathmatches as on consoles?Yes. It is however easier to get randoms from sessions to join your jobs since you have text-chat. People are very shy and reluctant to answer you though, so your speech-skill should be maxed out, with most perkpoints put into "Patience" and "Acceptance". EDIT: And the neverending spam of heistinvites ofcourse. 2 every 10 seconds. Edited June 4, 2015 by Sveittjpong DentureDynamite

DentureDynamite
All the above...the script kiddies/hax are indeed pretty bad (never know when you're going to run into them), and IMO it's not much different from the PS3 (gameplay-wise). Other than the boatload of bugs that desperately need fixing, the PC version is good and has a lot of benefits to it. Plenty of potential and room for improvement too... There are the occasional hackers here and there, but a swift lobby change takes care of it. And when I say here and there, I mean I'll find one outta every 10 lobbies. Community is miles ahead of console. Communication is much more mature, ESPECIALLY if you utilize the forums here to group up! If you find someone here on the forums, 9 times outta 10 its another mature person looking to play the game seriously (or seriously fun). There are a few of those ridiculous jobs I'm not going to lie ...but they can be easily avoided and are few in number compared to the good ones. DesiDog82
It's overrun with hackers and modders. Some just dick around and do funny stuff to each other and leave others alone. Many though just use cheats to kill everyone over and over. Last time I played I encountered a guy who was in passive mode but had a shogun that would shoot exploding bullets. Every time someone spawned, he would teleport to them and just blow up them and everything in the area.

Slam_Jones
- You WILL run into hackers. The good ones will give you free money, the bad ones will blow you up. Enable passive mode to piss them off. - There are a fair number of "$9000000//1200000RP HACK DEATHMATCH ZOMGLOL" jobs, but you can easily ignore those. In my experience, they pop up 1 in 10 jobs or so. - A lot of heists and set-ups will fail... often many times in a row. Have a good group, or be prepared to be frustrated and waste a lot of time. - The matchmaking is hit-or-miss... I've had times where I'll open a lobby, and 10 seconds later I get a group of 20 popping in. Other times I'll have it open for 5 minutes, with only one or two people joining then leaving cuz no one else is joining. - It might just be me, but I LOVE making races and seeing people enjoy them. If I make a crappy race, I'll revise or scrap it, but seeing people enjoy a good map you made is very rewarding. In my opinion, it's still worth it, but your milage may vary. MaxSharps
I don't even care about the 5 year olds or random attackers. Hackers are what drove me offline because they actually corrupted my game. My steam feed is just friends who experienced servers littered with hackers. Me and my clan ONLY play in private sessions now. I used to love playing online against randoms, but now it's just not possible anymore. The PS4/XboxOne version is far better online because of this. Matchmaking is identical. You won't notice a difference. Thankfully, loadtimes are much faster on PC, but that has nothing to do with the servers. Of course there's still sh*tty ninja parkour melee fight. They're not very common though. DentureDynamite

ADropInTheOcean
Started playing GTAO on PC two days ago, transferred from PS3 to PC. Feels like an enormous improvement, the incorporated text chat makes all the difference when it comes to communication between players. I ran into far less assholes than I did on PS3, the community is much nicer in general. Or well, at least those are my first impressions, maybe I just got lucky with who I played with. Hasn't happened to me yet... maybe I've gotten lucky, but the only hackers I've run into spawn in UFO's and tanks and money bags. Again, maybe I've just been lucky so far. Edit: As of last night, I've been killed in Passive Mode. Seems like they have to target you specifically. The explosions they can spawn on all players won't kill you, but if the hacker/modder/whatever is physically close to you (apparently) they can break through your "Passive Mode Shield" as I call it. But this has happened once in the 100+ hours I've put into online, so don't expect it to happen constantly. NomadRider
Online is losing people fast. I used to see several friends online every time I joined. Now they are few. ClareXoBearrx3R9
Pretty much what anyone said is true. Online has quite a few script kiddies who are explosion and invisibility mode happy. I wrote a custom piece of software though that I seldom use to return the favor to them when they directly affect me. If I get blown up with a trainer explosion or get killed from some invincible idiot, remotely shut down their vehicle and lock them in. Then I join a new session. It's not necessarily moral to do, but neither is what the cheaters are doing either. At least my actions are reasonably justified.
vesi
the high cash/ rp lobbies pop up here and there. I don't see them that often, but they are out there. not hard to avoid them. I find tons of normal jobs. Matchmaking, idk. Whenever I host a room I can get people in pretty easily. 5 year olds, well I'm sure plenty of kids still play but I've only heard one or two squeakers on mic so far. as for cheaters even though you didn't ask, I probably see one god moder every 10 full sessions I go to and maybe once out of every 15-20 jobs. annoying, yeah but I just find a new session/ job and problem is solved. I have never ran into modders killing everyone instantly or anything. my experience has been mostly pleasant. maybe I'm just lucky idk edit: yeah, just lucky past 2 days I've been constantly running into servers where people are blowing up everyone in the server and spawning tons of money on everyone. completely ruins the game. guess its as bad as everyone says. don't even bother. On PC online feels like a ghost town Lmaoo what? http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ Gta is peaking 80k+ players a day on Steam. Online is very active. I don't think neither that Online is a ghost town (but the feeling of a ghost town can be possible).... Except when a scriptkiddie empties the streets (as it happens to me this night). We were 20 players (approx.), but after this scriptkiddie make spawn at least 100 fake NPCs (looking like a player), there wasn't NPCs nor Cars (only parked cars and car players) in the streets, and after that i was disconnected from GTA Online (switch to GTA 5) without to be able to reconnect to the Online (but it's rare, it was the first time for me to see this kind of "empty street" session). But yes, 80k+ players? .... Nothing to celebrate, the Online begin to be deserted. Because a peak of 80k+ players is low (plus, this stats is about GTA V. Many players don't play to Online). There were double of players the two first days (week where GTA 5/Online was available on PC, when the retail version owners can't play without this f*cking 5gb patch downloadable in 2-10 days with the amazZzing Rockstar servers...). On console 85% of players play on the Online, but on PC with this anti-Mods propaganda (confuse with Cheats and Hacks, cause the hypocrites Rockstar and its trolls army who take pleasure to promote the confusion between Mods and Cheats/Hacks, and Console players using same PC Words without to know what they are talking....) many people prefer to play SP only then, with these scriptkiddies and kids ruining the Online (blame Rockstar to do nothing, except to encourage assholes behaviors because generate much more Shark Cards) many player prefer to play the SP... or to play another game (Witcher3 is out with some peaks of 50k+ players.... a fall of 50k potential players on GTA V/Online then), and many PC players (playing to GTAV/Online for the first time) are totally disappointed by this anti-GTA game which is this "GPTA AC Online". The T2 CEO said (to the shareholders only interested by the product generating money => Online with Shark cards) 70% of GTA V owners play to GTA Online. 70%... Ok then..., 85% of console players play on GTA Online (T2 and Rockstar Games claim this there is some months), then there is huuh what?! ... 40-50% (at max) of PC players who play to GTA Online ?!... 35 millions on Consoles (old gen and other called "next gen" instead "obsolete and anti-innovations Gen for the 5 next years... again....") + at least 6 millions on PC for a "old" game (nothing new) after 2years (while many console players in this case will play another game and wouldn't have waited.... but it's true Rockstar doesn't care, they prefer make money only without care about kill the GTA serie and doesn't care to respect the real GTA fans, and doesn't care about people allowing to "promote" GTA V during this 5 last years with GTA IV & Mods....) = 40-41 millions 70% of 40-41 millions = 32millions. 85% of console players = 30millions ==> Rest 2 millions on PC then = 33% (for 6 millions copies).... In fact, T2 and Rockstar Games are f*cking liars.... All these numbers are totally wrong and impossible. But they don't care, journalists, trolls and shareholders are ready to believe everything, specially bullsh*ts, they don't know sh*t about all this. Almost 2 month and the game (Online) is already losing half of players.... Some days, since this last week, yes I fell the Online like a Ghost town sometimes, where there are only 10-15 players by sessions and where it's impossible to find more of 2 people to play missions, activities etc.... (even when I join a 30+ players session, in 10-15 minutes half of them are quitting the game because they haven't ammo anymore (and prefer quit to come back without their friends the next day to beg some money towards "modders" as they said, who in fact are f*cking idiots using Scriptkiddies), or quit the game because cheaters & scriptkiddies, because assholes, or quit the game after to be disconnected from the Online cause a scriptkiddie crash the sessions (and finally, players think it's " useless to come back for now...")... and the worst, quit the game because unable to find some people to play activities.... vesi
.. well of course. there's always new game hype. it wasn't going to stay that busy. almost everyone on my Steam list played it for the first couple weeks then went back to another TPS because they were bored of it. I'm used to playing games with much smaller playerbases so even 20k online is awesome to me. plus I can always find a full session or activities and don't often see cheaters so yea it doesn't feel like a ghost town to me in the slightest with that said, I agree that the cheaters are killing the game and it'll only get worse.
