ClareXoBearrx3R9
So probably the stupidest question of all time... but I noticed a recent photo that my friend said was a simple "Chrome" paint job. It looked beautiful. However, I've purchased "Chrome" on several of my vehicles and they all look like this Vapid Guardian truck: ... which looks black to me. Has anyone else experienced this? (The La Mesa in the next to it too is "chrome") Because otherwise, my tablet has been apparently trolling me this entire time with a "black chrome" despite spending $25K each time on it. I figured it was Rockstar's fancy version of a chrome job.

rrs
Yeah, it's the graphics card. My settings are stuck on low due to lack of vram and I can see the chrome w/o reflections. (not my chrome zentomo, just to demonstrate) Edited June 3, 2015 by thecharrr
ClareXoBearrx3R9
OK, yeah it might be my graphics settings... They are all set as low as possible but I thought I'd at least see the chrome colour My (tablet) specs are: Windows 2012 R2 Intel Core i5-3320M 4 GB DDR3 RAM Intel HD 4000 sh*tty I know, but it's all I can afford for now with school draining my bank account. I'll try increasing my settings temporarily to see if that fixes the issue. Thanks for everyone's clarification!
..GhosT
You dont even have a graphics card, what did you expect? Youre missing reflections thats why it reflects nothing and ends up being black. Why would you use chrome anyway, looks retarded.

And as for your last comment, to each their own. I don't use chrome on everything but I'd like to use it on some things. Saying chrome is retarded is like saying white is retarded. iTRiP
Anodized Electroplated Layer Of Chrome Paint Mix: Would be correct if it where in reality. Electroprogrammed Layer Of Chrome Texture With Reflective Overlay: Would be correct if it where in digitality. "iTRiP" Seen a clip on the net somewhere with a car driving through a tunnel somewhere, it had chrome, don't know what type, but it's the best resemblance of chrome ever, so far. You might want to go find that clip and post it here. Ok hold on I did the effort, hope the owner don't mind us reposting it here: Edited June 4, 2015 by iTRiP K20

I've just never witnessed something like that but in fairness, I'm not a graphics guy. I would have thought it would have rendered low quality reflections, but guess not Oh well. At least I can play the game
iTRiP
"iTRiP" Found that clip of the chrome car in the tunnel that best resembles chrome, have a look a couple of posts up. "iTRiP" I was hoping that Grand Theft Auto Five's PC version might look alike once one gets the correct hardware and setting variations, might only be possible with mods, I'm hoping the dev's get to it and patch it in. WildBrick142
Must be something on OP's end. I set everything to "Normal" (lowest possible) and chrome still looks ok. Also using Intel HD Graphics 4000. Normal Reflections with reflection MSAA off Ultra Reflections with x8 reflection MSAA
durpflip
chrome can look black-ish depending on what lighting there is. fiddle around with brightness and that bunch of stuff.

Rotorhead359
Yes, I realize this is a necro. To anyone with Chrome issues on low graphics settings: Set your Reflection Quality to High at least, not Normal. Reflection AA is not needed unless you use Ultra and have GPU power to spare. Reflections High turns reflections on, Very High and Ultra increase their resolution, and Reflection AA makes them sharper. Normal reflections turns shiny surfaces off so it makes chrome look black (because chrome is not a color but a mirror of sorts), so reflections High is a must-have setting. Even the Xbox360/PS3 have High reflection quality (everything else on normal, 1280x720, FXAA on, and 4x Anisotropic Filtering), Xbox one and PS4 use Very High for most settings, 1920x1080, FXAA.
