What are your best/favorite GTAO tactics?

One thing I've noticed when chatting with skilled/high-level players is that when the subject of tips/tricks/strategy comes up, almost all of them have at least one or two little-known secrets which make them a better player. I'd say most of you are probably above average and know a lot more about the game than the average player, so I figured I'd start this thread to see what I can learn from you. Here are some of my tricks:

 

-There is a very easy way to take out the helicopters in survival. Instead of trying to take out the gunners first, a lot of times you can lock onto one of them, then nudge the crosshairs to the side to target the pilot instead. It is a bit tricky getting the right angle sometimes, but often when they have just spawned and are flying directly towards you head-on, you can take out one or two of them very quickly and easily without having to switch weapons and waste your expensive RPG's and homing rockets.

 

-The mask trick for evading wanted levels works with glasses too. If you are like me and never wear glasses in game, this saves precious seconds cycling through gear via the quick interaction menu, since glasses can be accessed with the fewest D-pad presses, and if you don't use them, you always know the first time you equip them you will lose a star. May not seem like a big deal, but a lot of players don't know this. If you are out-running a 3 star wanted level, this will allow you to lose the chopper very quickly before it gets close enough to lock on and start following you.

 

-A lot of people think the gas canister is useless, but I have a pretty handy use for it. Anytime you are in survival or just need to blow something up, you can use it instead of an expensive rocket or grenade. Although it is a bit slower, it costs a lot less (under $100 per can) and can also be used similarly to how you would use sticky bombs to set traps for some cheap easy kills. May not seem like much, but over the long haul you can save many thousands and possibly millions of dollars doing this. Plus, it is pretty funny seeing and hearing peoples "WTF" reactions when you whip out your gas can.

Blow up incoming armored kurumas asap in FR, chances are they are going to f*ck you over.

when battling people in freeroam, go to a safe place, send a mugger, wait for it to knock down the player and score a kill.

 

cheap tactic but still effective!

drive a van.

they're great for cover since the big surface of the van, allowing you to place cover whereever you want, beside that it's a good driving vehicle capable of drifting and has the possibility for 2 players to shoot out of the back with assault rifles or MG's. this is extremely helpfull to take down any hostile player chasing you.

Setting proximity mines or sticky bombs to where people come out of their garage. eventually forgetting about it and seeing a message I just blew someone up a few mins later.

I like to think of myself as fairly decent with a sniper so whenever I'm trying to kill someone whatever the reason I like parking my vehicle about 20-30 feet away and landing a quick shot in the chest. Some might call me cheap but hey sue me.

I do a ton to stay out of auto-aim range. That sh*t makes it too even a playing field. I always want the upper hand.

If I see anyone in a jet getting cheap kills against unarmed planes I grab my mallard and annoy the hell out of them. Don't know how but I'm pretty good at dodging any missiles they fire at me. Then I try to crash into them when they maneuver to fire more missiles at me. Blew two up on Sunday with my mallard.

For jet fighters:

1. Use mercenaries to draw out players hiding under bridges, tunnels, or tight corners.

2. Use bounties to prevent paying insurance and getting bad sport warning. Also great for preventing player from entering passive especially when there's a lobby lag; the bounty has a delay time. Perfect for repeated spawning.

3. Diving perpendicularly to the ground for the kill to avoid getting locked on by the homing.
