Are heists too much for Last-Gen to handle?

No it doesn't. I clean out my PS3 and replace the thermal paste with AS5 every 6-12 months. It has nothing to do with the PS3 itself. It's a bug that was introduced with heists...and that's all it is. If you have friends in the same session this will happen to everyone at the same time. It's not system limitations just an annoying bug.

I played on a launch PS3 up until a month ago and experienced exactly none of the problems you seem to have.

 

The only maintenance I ran on my PS3 was periodically cleaning out the vents with a vacuum cleaner, as well.

 

Only reason I upgraded is the bluray drive finally failed.

 

The PS3 is fine to run what it's given in GTAO/V. There's no reason to cut support because it has a massive install base and a huge chunk of them already own the game, as well. They're all willing to continue to sign in and play and buy cash cards when needed.

 

I'm sorry that your investment in a PS4 doesn't feel as solid because there's very little new and good out there for it, but you should stop projecting on PS3 owners.

 

Are you...are you high? I don't own a PS4...nor will I ever own that sh*tbox. When I upgrade it will be to a PC...but that is neither here nor there. As I already stated it has nothing to do with my network connection or the PS3. My PS3 is very well taken care of and it runs cool. I have two different hard drives, one of which was recently formatted, and the issue happens on both...not to mention that when it happens to one player in a lobby it's happening to everyone...

 

I am not calling for PS3 support to be dropped at all. This bug was introduced in the heists update and I would like to see it fixed.

the pause menu thing is a leftover of the "stack of signs" bug that affected some apartments since december. if youre having this problem just move to a apartment that dont suffer from this, Alta and Integrity are bug free.

Never will i pay to play online. PS3 is awesome and it works perfect for me.

take care of your ps3, all the things you mentioned in your post show that your ps3 is f*cked up and not being taken care off.

change HDD or just clean it inside. it has nothing to do with updates or heists, it's that your console has not been taken care off properly.

I wouldn't be that harsh. There are many reasons why people haven't or can't upgrade. Silliness like 8888's post reminds us though that they will be removing themselves from the gaming pool when last gen officially is cast aside. Keep in mind, Sony won't keep the free side of PS3 active forever either.

 

So either way, it's adapt or die. It appears 8888 prefers to die. Fair enough.

 

I have no problem with paying for my PSN. Although, I'm letting my XBOX live die in December. I'm not getting a XBONE and no need to keep the 360 alive when the great console split has forced me to say goodbye to many regulars I played with because they have brand loyalty to microsoft.

 

Lolololol I can't wait for the day when Rockstar cut off Last Gen.

I'm glad I upgraded and I bought a bone just for my dear dukes, but it was easier to find fellow spaniards to play heists with my old 360, and I actually completed a challenge with 4 guys I met online... I've yet to find someone to play heists with the bone

I only really buy used or I shop around for the lowest price new depending on how old/popular the game is.

 

No one is forcing you to buy a game brand new game and no one is forcing you to spend $60-70...

I really think it has a lot to do with the move from 16 people in a room to 18. That's when sh*t started going downhill for me. I'd have a few draw problems in Freemode here and there (driving in a sea of gray) before, but they're nearly constant now.

 

And it can't be my connection, because I do a fair amount of running around in an invite-only room and I never have that problem there. Plus, the fun side activities happen less frequently now, at a time when they added more of them for variety. Roll it back to 16 at least, or experiment with going slightly lower.

The OP isn't lying. I too experiance the things he said like pause menu never loading when I do it in my Weasel tower appartment. Also during the heist lobbie, if i pressed Confirm settings, it would litterly freeze their for a good 5 minutes before continuing. Also the freezes during heist...

 

I now bought the pc version and that thing runs very smooth!

Yeah I do man, I do.

I changed from ps2 to 360 because my uncle had a little comic shop and he sold me the 360 for a really good price, I had it for 8 years and since I loved xbox franchises like forza, halo or gears of war I bought a Xbone, but I've yet to find someone in my little town that has it. I didnt have that problem with the 360, a lot of friends had the ps3 but at least 4 or 5 friends had the 360 and I could still play fifa with them.

But they upgraded to pc and I did want to play the new forza and halo games and I had interest in games like Sunset Overdrive, so I bought a One.

 

I would never had bought one if they didnt try to make it more appealing to us europeans though. The price drop was also a huge reason for me to buy one.

Using the biggest Spanish forum I've found 3 or 4 guys to play GTA with, but its much much harder than it was with the 360.

I actually haven't brought a game full price since gta v on the ps3. Prices are still too high for me in Canada. I just don't play the game much anymore to care. I only play when update comes up and that's only a few days.

My PS3 runs very smooth,but every now and then I get the occasionally "pause menu forever" or the "full frame rate drop glitch" in SP but thats about it.

 

And thats the fat 80 GB one,upgrade youre HDD to a SSD,bump up the thermal paste and you should be fine.

Yes, but the p2p framework is hosted by their server. That's the other problem, it's only one server shared across, LG, CG and PC. So everyone has problems.

I still play on PS3 because my friend can't afford to upgrade, but it is incredibly stressful compared to Current-Gen. You can't bring up the pause menu while in an apartment. If you do, it sits there for 15-20 seconds before working, sometimes not at all. If you're lucky enough to get the pause menu up and try to "Find a New Session" the whole console freezes. You also can't even bring up your phone. This is in an "Invite Only Session" by myself. The lag, while expected for some, is just saddening. It seems like ever since heists were released on Last-Gen, the game has gotten nearly unplayable at times. My question is, do you think maybe it'd be better if they removed heists from Last-Gen? What if it got rid of some of the problems?
