Unable to progress story after choosing Offshore Merryweather heist

I didn't know choosing the Offshore target for the Merryweather heist would render the game uncompletable. I've done all missions for all characters up to and including By the Book, and I can't even get the setup missions to trigger. Why would you put an option in the game that effectively ends the game? I'd much rather have a refund than restart all my progress all over again, but I know that would never happen.

Your only other options are to load a save before it happened and making your choice in the mission or go online briefly and then exit and or take a long taxi ride or if you have any question marks on the map do them, they are strangers and Freaks missions, sometimes they can cause story-line missions to get stuck, and if your unable to proceed anymore, make a ticket at Rockstar social club site and there support page about your situation!..

There are no question marks because I've done all the missions. I really do mean ALL of them, including stuff like Maude, arms trafficking, and rampages. I've spent all day playing as Trevor hoping to get the call, and nada. Going online then exiting also didn't work. I can already see what good a ticket will do me (none), but I guess I might as well try it.

Did you find all the random events like Soapboxers like Jessy Jesus??? there's also the ATM robbery's and alley way lores and back alley robberies and the tap dancer jig guy to a old grateful dead song I think

Did you find all the random events like Soapboxers like Jessy Jesus??? there's also the ATM robbery's and alley way lores and back alley robberies and the tap dancer jig guy to a old grateful dead song I think

Wow, if you have to do all these random events just to progress the MAIN STORY, this game is truly f*cking awful.

You don't have to do random events to progress the story....

 

There should be Heist setup mission at Fort Zancudo (Cargo Bob)-- you should have got a text from wade to go there. If you didn't get this, you may have to reload an earlier mission and replay-- it would be a good idea to utilize multiple save slots if you don't alread-- every 5 or 10% keep an extra save to mark your progress (save in a new slot)-- turn off your autosave and use your quicksave feature on your phone instead of relying on your autosave.

 

If you are on PC, you should be able to find another save at this point in the story and use someone elses save if you can't continue.
