[TUT] Use OpenIV "mods" folder & keep your original GTA V

I've followed all the instructions given in the first post but it won't work for me, though.

The mod I wanted to install requiered to edit the "x64e.rpf" file. So I copied it to the created "mods" folder and edited it in there. But instead of the mod the original car shows up.

I tried it two more times and with different mods but it still won't work.

Many cars have new copy of files in update try use search.

I wish I saw this before I moddified the original files LOL. I will try to do this.

So can I go online with the OpenVI asi launcher still in the folder? Or do I have to remove it before i go online?

Just uninstall ASI Loader in ASI Manager and you are good to go.

Try starting the game in offline mode..

How can I do this?

I figured out a method with the cmd and the launcher opens saying "Offline Mode" but the game won't start, it just give me the options to quit or to retry because there is no internet connection.

Have you loaded the game as normal? Just unplug the ethernet cable out of the port in the back of your computer, if you connect wirelessly I'd disable the connection.

Hi,

I have used this great feature to install an OIV package, but was wondering if it would be possible to install other mods into the mods folder without needing to copy the entire .rpf archive or whatever. Thanks.

@GooD-NTS, I think this your thread might be important for those wanting to install non-script mods in their copy of GTAV, and it should be also classified as popular. So it's possible you do put this as a PINNED TOPIC on top of this subforum, so it do stays on top of first page permanently instead to sink backwards with older topics? :catloaf:

I don't have rights to pin topics here. You can try to reach moderators here with your idea.

Can I use this to mod single player, then disable the mods to safely play Grand Theft Auto Online?

I've got this issue, had it for a while. I installed LSPDFR and OpenIV. Whenever I install anything into the mods folder, the launcher's log gives me this:

@@low_mz3 are you sure you replace the right files? Many cars have updated files in \update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday...\ folders and you need replace the latest version of files.

What I do wrong?

I try to install a mod (any), but game is crash everytime, when i select a car in the garage (LSPDFR). I created 'mods' folder, installed API Loader and openiv.asi. I also tried to just copy update.rpf without any changes in the mods/update/, but the problem did not solve.

P.S. When I delete openiv.asi, everything is work (without mods ofc).

Did it. I launched the game by OpenIV, got in the car and game crashed after 500 metres. As I understand OpenIV.dll can not load textures, objects or something like that from the original files.

I so sorry, problem was in PLD.dll (Player Position mod).

So, in order to go Online safely, I just "uninstall" OpenIV.ASI through OpenIV before going Online?

If you don't use script mods, then yes.

Thanks. Think I will have to do some more reading up before I attempt mods, it still seems extremely confusing.

It is better to uninstall ASI Loader, it will disable OpenIV.ASI (and all RPF in "mods" folder) and all other ASI mods.

I need help with an issue so I'm putting it up in multiple threads. I accidentally changed how rpf files open to OpenIV and now that's the icon that displays beside the file in the directory. How can I revert back to the file icon. From this,

Edit: I tried deleting game files and reinstalling, no change and I want to start modding GTAV again but I need to sort out this issue first.

So the Enchanced Native Trainer should work if I just move it's .asi file into the mod folder?

Only RPF mods support "mods" folder. ASI mods will not work if you place them into "mods" folder.

You can put any files into "mods", which would be opened by CreateFileA or CreateFileW. So that many other files will work, unless other WINAPI functions would be used. Which happens in case of ASI plugins:

FindFirstFileA and FindNextFile is being used in ASI loader and it won't scan for the files that exist in "mods".

Unless Alexander Blade has it explicitly restricted to RPF archives.

I was trying to install a car skin, but I can't seem to install it. I tried making folder versions of the *.rpf files but it didn't work. I tried adding real *.rpf files but the game can't find the custom car. I tried using enchanced native trainer but when I use folder versions it didn't change, but when I used *.rpf files versions it didn't detect the car.

Trying to get mods to work with OpenIV and Mod Manager but it's just not working. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Following

that tutorial but ScriptHook doesn't load up in Mod Manager for me.

I know one has to create "mods" folder where the game is installed, other tutorials say to make a "GTA V Mods" folder as well as "RPF" folders. Don't know which tutorial to follow or if they conflict with each other.
