Dr. Snakeyes
I picked up GTA 5 for the PC, and have been running it at a relatively stable 60 fps, however there are times that this number increases to 75+, and decreases to 30-. As a result I have been running it with V-Sync disabled and a screen refresh rate of 60Hz. If I increase my screen refresh rate to the maximum supported (75Hz) will this introduce issues when I play games (not just GTA 5) at a regular fps that is below this rate, such as 60. Another way of explaining my question is: I know that having a fps rate of over 60 with the refresh rate set to 60Hz can introduce tearing without V-Sync enabled, however the extreme loss of frame rate when my fps suddenly drops below 60 with V-Sync on is far more of an issue to me then tearing. As I have an AMD GPU (HD 7970 GHz edition) adaptive V-Sync (Nvidia) is not an option. Therefore, is increasing my monitor refresh rate to above my maximum fps an acceptable solution, or will this introduce bigger issues then the occasional tearing at 60Hz without V-Sync enabled?
