New PC build

Recommended Posts

F I S IHI E R

So, Tommorow is the day I start building my new pc and officially join the "Master race". I played CS:S a lot back in 06-08 but only off a basic PC with a couple cheap upgrades (I was 13)getting like 40 FPS and lagging hard every game, so now I've scraped enough together to make something a little more competitive and just wondering what you guys think of it.

The games I plan on playing are:

GTA V (obviously)

CS:GO

Dota 2 (trying it as of its popularity)

The Witcher 3

Some Battlefield 4 and a few other games.

The Specs are as followed:

Intel Core i5 4690k CPU

Gigabyte NVIDIA GTX 970 G1 Gaming edition Graphics card

Gigabyte Z97X-SLI Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 8GB RAM

WD 1TB SATA III Hard drive

Windows 7 Home premium 64 Bit (Hate Windows 8 layout)

Corsair CXM 750W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU

Samsung 24x Dvd Writer

Cit Vanquish Gaming Case

And a Logitech G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming mouse and Saitek Cyborg V5 Keyboard to go with it, Also got a 24" BenQ Full HD 1080P monitor.

What do you guys think of my 1st ever build?😃😄

All opinions and feedback, good or bad are greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.

Good build overall in my opinion, there are a few points to make though:

I'm not that good with PSU's, but I think you can find a better one than the CX-series. 750W is also more than you need for a signle graphics card. :) Yojo can probably tell you more about this.

You also haven't included a CPU cooler, if you're planning on doing any overclocking (which you should with that CPU) you will need one. If not, you can go with a cheaper non-K series CPU. :)

You're gonna overclock the CPU, right?

Anyways, I'd change the RAM (it has very high radiators, which is nothing but problems), and the PSU (you don't need anything near 750W; it'd be better to settle for a lower wattage higher end unit, like XFX XTR 550W, Antec EDGE 550W, etc.).

I'm also not sure about the case, CiT (formerly ColorsIT) is a crap company, but this model seems okay. Possibly outsourced from a better producer that normally, since they don't design or produce any cases of their own.
