Since Ryder always insulted him because he left to Liberty City, he would finally give CJ the respect he deserved and we might even get a shot at CJ and Ryder hanging out along with Cesar. The three amigos. Just imagine how cool that would've been. Unlikely. Junkies like Ryder never (to rarely) change their ways. Carl was his competition, and Ryder only used Carl, he was not and never had been a "Friend" in any but the gang member meaning. He only grudgingly tolerated Carl, Carl being Sweets brother. Carl is totally against "Hard Drugs", so where would Ryder get his Fixes? Ryder's was only an asset to the gang for his ability to get Weapons. Once the move to being exiled, Ryder had no value to the gang in any sense of the situation. His termination was needed to "clean up" the story. Was only stating a scenario. It's just a video game. But i think this is what makes him a good protagonist after all. I don't like overpowered protagonists who are 100% hardcore and take out everything without showing any kind of fear or inhibition. Its just ridiculous and boring. Tommy was too badass, i mean seriously he didn't even feel human to me, like a robot who knows exactly what to do during the first try. Hell I like all the GTA protagonists (except Tommy, who's a selfish asshole). But CJ just did EVERYTHING to own a whole state and become a multimillionaire, not to mention took out all the territories and wiped out every gang in Los Santos. If All the topics of speculation regarding the games "loose" points and "mysteries" were to be stopped the site would be dead, as is the first one I joined. So, "it's only a game" has to be ignored for the most part. Beside which, the Rockstar boy like to see the conversations on their games. Dan Hauser has said as much in his interviews. 5 Dan Hauser Interview on the GTA: SA game generally . From an interview with Sam Houser, Dan Houser, Terry Donovan, Christian Cantamessa, Jeff Rosa, and another developer. I mean his brother gets killed in the late 80s, his mother gets killed just five days later, C.R.A.S.H. tried to frame him for homicide, and even though CJ makes many new friends following his return in San Andreas, he also lost two of his old friends from childhood. I mean CJ is the only GTA protagonist who has no rampages ! And just like Luis, CJ is another douche bag who will do ABSOLUTELY anything to get his d*ck wet, but compared to Luis, he's way less of a douche bag than him, and his.character is weak if you compare it to other GTA protagonists like Tommy and Toni, he just needed to be a Ibadass and a bit psychopathic... Cj, isnt much of an awesome guy but he never claims to be a good guy anyway. he’s a survivor, like some other guys however cj is a bit more violent and back stabbing at times. He's overrated by the SA fanboys who brag about how much customizable he is and underrated by the massive fans who constantly underestimates him and despise the game due to hating gangsters in general (never mind the fact that all GTA games have gangsters). Me personally, I'm a little mixed on CJ. While he can be inconsistent at times, I like that he is one of the first protagonists who has moral standards and, while not as intelligent as Tommy or even Niko, does show he's capable of implementing certain plans and businesses. Guest Posted June 21, 2020 Share Posted June 21, 2020 IMO CJ has a growth arc like no other and it was a really memorable one. The majority of the protagonists already have some prior fighting/criminal experience, which is fine since some backstory always helps. What I really like with CJ is that unlike the others he starts off as a complete rookie, so we get to see a protagonist from a brand new perspective. Sure he did work for Joey in LC and was involved in the gang life prior to that, but all that is relatively minor of a background compared to most other protagonists more storied pasts, or compared to the events of SA. So we get to see his full growth from a complete rookie to a criminal mastermind who's influential over an entire state. I liked to experience that kind of perspective, it felt like as a player we grew along with CJ as we played through the game. This made me connect with CJ's character a lot I'd also like to appreciate how Carl Johnsons nickname 'CJ' is so popular that it's how he's commonly referred to instead of by his actual name. Nobody really calls Niko 'NB' or Trevor 'TP' despite that they were addressed as such in game(granted they don't really push it as hard as they did CJ), but Carl, he's CJ! To me, all of them are equal and have their great way becoming a protagonist. In my opinion, CJ is a good protagonist.
