GTA Free Roam Combat: Name Noob Tactics/Weaponry (Preferably explain)

The Poll

64 members have voted

  1. 1. Should b*tch/noob tactics be removed?

    • Yes, only then will GTA Online be considered a gaming utopia.
    • No, I have no dignity in combat so I use them all the time.
    • They should be altered so they do not interfere with PvP combat (e.g. Bulletproof helmet for cosmetic purposes only)
    • What is the point? The game is already dead.

Jammsbro that is my favorite meme ever created. I saved it to my computer 5 or 6 years ago.

OP-How did you not see all this coming?

I thought this would be a funny thread about the noobish things noobs do sometimes, going by your title.

I did see this coming, just not as fast. You are right however. All these things I listed are what noobs do/use.

I'll start:

1. Marksman Rifle - Takes little skill to use.

2. Insurgent - Don't know pain until you've fought a d*ck in these in Free Aim

3. Passive Mode - Totally negates the whole concept of invite only.

4. Anything that blows up (depends on current situation)

5. Jet b*tches - I don't even have to explain

6. Not directly combat related but the Realism to unrealism ratio in this game - Yeah have an impound and an insurance company but you pay a pedophile $5000 to waltz into a military base and steal a military grade, billion (probably trillion) worth piece of aircraft. Not to mention you can buy one too.

7. People who shoot you while you're down - The fact that I'm completely and utterly defenseless (which in most cases isn't my fault) yet you still shoot me is nothing worthy of appearing in the kill count.

8. People use the name "Free Roam" as an excuse to play how they want - RPG's, miniguns and any other bitch tactic/weapon you just name it.

9. Bulletproof helmets (Especially when they pull out the sh*tty excuse that it is part of their "outfit")

10. Assault shotgunners - Doesn't bother me that much but too much damage at ranges. It is GTA not battlefield.

11. People who drive cars in free aim while fighting - Have you no dignity? Step out and make this fun for the both of us.

I understand some of these options I have posted there is nothing you can do about them. But still.

I'm quite certain that you didn't intend it but that picture also works in my favour.

OP, do you play in free-aim mode?

Yep. Despise auto-aim but both have their pros and cons.

When you see this or a variant in a poll:

No, I have no dignity in combat so I use them all the time.

You know that it's going to be a whine session.

Personally, from your opening list, it appears you're playing the wrong game, however, you left out sniping from a high rise.

As I snipe from a high rise quite frequently, I know how much it winds people up to get shot from miles away for no reason. The cold hard fact is, there are plenty of ways to deal with that. And people frequently do. Sure it forces people to play the way I want, but equally, they only need to take me out once and I'm on the ground and out of my comfort zone.

Any of the situations you've called out as being "noob tactics" can be countered. Jets can be shot down, armoured cars can be blown up, assault shotguns have an effective range. It just a matter of finding the right strategy to counter and then controlling the situation. The man who controls the fight, doesn't have to fight.

And before you have a crack at sniping being no skill and dishonourable, consider two things.

1. That the level of annoyance generated by someone sniping is equal to the amount of time people will spend torturing the hell out of them when they un-nest them.
2. This clip (linked below) seems to fit the theme of your list of "noob tactics", but you know what, Aimed for, got and earned.

https://account.xbox.com/en-GB/gameclip/8ca804cc-a769-46e1-b51a-82944f47f90a?gamertag=NebulousGeek&scid=03a80100-9ff3-46ea-be76-e00e7fe465df

(I'd also question the sensibleness of questioning the realism of a game where cops chasing you for brutal acts of terrorism give up because you hid in a car park for a few minutes...by design...)

OP, you're f*ckig ridiculous. Adapt, or get f*cked by other players. Passive mode will help if you don't want to fight insurgets. Oh no, wait you don't passive mode neither because you're a douche that wants to wreck those who don't want to fighr neither.

I'm not the one whining. You've misjudged me, I'd rather be sniped from a skyscraper than sniped across a street. Can easily just look up and find you. This post was more to do with dignity rather than finding a solution. I shouldn't have to sacrifice a rocket for the guy to get another jet/armoured car. Solutions are only temporary.

I can't answer the poll but I'll explain (imo):

1. Marksman Rifle - Takes little skill to use.

Playing a video game takes little effort... evens out

2. Insurgent - Don't know pain until you've fought a d*ck in these in Free Aim

Kill the driver not the armor = life hack

3. Passive Mode - Totally negates the whole concept of invite only.

Can't a man go out and enjoy a smoke after a long heist?

Plus wouldn't you rather know a player isn't in the mood before you drive/fly/run all the way to their location for nothing?

4. Anything that blows up (depends on current situation)

Real men never look at explosion... we know the rule thanks

5. Jet b*tches - I don't even have to explain

True

6. Not directly combat related but the Realism to unrealism ratio in this game - Yeah have an impound and an insurance company but you pay a pedophile $5000 to waltz into a military base and steal a military grade, billion (probably trillion) worth piece of aircraft. Not to mention you can buy one too.

Military hardware in a military base... wtf is this world coming to?!?

(I agree the response should be stepped up if that's what you're saying)

7. People who shoot you while you're down - The fact that I'm completely and utterly defenseless (which in most cases isn't my fault) yet you still shoot me is nothing worthy of appearing in the kill count.

So it wasn't your fault you crossed the street without looking both ways first? Must be your parents fault then.

8. People use the name "Free Roam" as an excuse to play how they want - RPG's, miniguns and any other bitch tactic/weapon you just name it.

Should I shoot down your fighter jet with a pistol like Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan???

9. Bulletproof helmets (Especially when they pull out the sh*tty excuse that it is part of their "outfit")

BP tires and vest are also for pussies then ...take it like a man!

10. Assault shotgunners - Doesn't bother me that much but too much damage at ranges. It is GTA not battlefield.

Blame the tool not the tools that use the tools.

11. People who drive cars in free aim while fighting - Have you no dignity? Step out and make this fun for the both of us.

Ahh yes, a fair fight in GTA will happen one day. I don't think i'll be around to see it but i'm looking forward to it anyways, i bet it'll probably be on CNN when it happens.

____________

To be honest I don't see the point of the thread since you would have to erase half the game to get the result you seem to want. I like a challenge too but not everything in my life needs to be hard just to make me feel like I accomplished more. Feels like you may be harping on too many things at once to be justifiable.

I think R* need to open the door to modders on dedicated servers. Seems like some players like the game but don't like the way it's being handled by players. I can surely agree with that, I still find it fun though.

Why should he have to sacrifice another 10-15 minutes of his time getting another Jet because you decided to blow his up?

Dignity, is internal. I'd argue that what you're talking about is honourable combat. GTA free-roam is a griefers paradise, but it's also a tacticians dream.

It's all about how you choose to look at it. :)

I just want those BP helmets to not affect DM's LTS's or Free roam. Or maybe just be cosmetic until you yourself put one on, they're just annoying.

So what do the "play-how-I-want" guys so when they get stripper of all little noob tactics and weaponry? The majority of the Online community plays the way they want because they can. That is why you see no one playing gun-only death matches anymore. They don't like fair fights so they don't play them. They don't adapt to it. They just keep playing free roam because in a death match they don't have their jets and tanks to grief people with. Just think about that.

I have adapted to the Marksman Rifle. Simply because I had to. I only fight with what I'm fought with.

Why don't you just go to invite only sessions just like me? Did you know that in these sessions there isn't all those things you've described? It would save you from bitching from now on too.

1. Marksman Rifle - Takes little skill to use.

Assault rifles, handguns, machine guns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers and pretty much every weapon in the game takes little skill to use. Marksman is a free aim weapon for everyone, that evens it out.

2. Insurgent - Don't know pain until you've fought a d*ck in these in Free Aim

Why are you fighting people in insurgents? Waste. Of. Time.

3. Passive Mode - Totally negates the whole concept of invite only.

People can go passive any time they want, it's their game.

4. Anything that blows up (depends on current situation)

Are you saying you don't like things that blow up? Meaning grenade launchers and stuff? When someone is hosing you down from a flying death-machine, I like to have a little explosive support at hand.

5. Jet b*tches - I don't even have to explain

They are annoying. But either ignore them or take them down. Same as insurgents.

6. Not directly combat related but the Realism to unrealism ratio in this game - Yeah have an impound and an insurance company but you pay a pedophile $5000 to waltz into a military base and steal a military grade, billion (probably trillion) worth piece of aircraft. Not to mention you can buy one too.

You really have no idea of the cost of an aircraft do you?

7. People who shoot you while you're down - The fact that I'm completely and utterly defenseless (which in most cases isn't my fault) yet you still shoot me is nothing worthy of appearing in the kill count.

If you leave someone alive when they are down, when they get back up, they will shoot you. And you are an idiot for letting them do so.

8. People use the name "Free Roam" as an excuse to play how they want - RPG's, miniguns and any other bitch tactic/weapon you just name it.

This is just whining about players not playing GTA exactly the way you want it.

9. Bulletproof helmets (Especially when they pull out the sh*tty excuse that it is part of their "outfit")

Easy, don't shoot the head, free-aim ace.

10. Assault shotgunners - Doesn't bother me that much but too much damage at ranges. It is GTA not battlefield.

Play smarter. Weapon choice goes hand in hand with what range you are at.

11. People who drive cars in free aim while fighting - Have you no dignity? Step out and make this fun for the both of us.

Shoot them.

This all sounds a lot like you are unhappy about hot getting to kill people more and probably a fair bit of whining because you keep dying with what you think are unfair tactics.

Well, got news for you. This is a game where criminals vie for power and they are all dirty, sneaky, backstabbing, underhanded untrustworthy buggers. Deal with it.

Really? That's how all of the rest of us play the game.

Man up kid, it's a tough game with players who want to kill you and don't care if you think it's fair or not. In fact a lot of them go out of their way to make it unfair. Find ways to deal with them or stay out of their way. If you can't hack it find a private lobby with friends or you'd best find another game.

When you really come down to it what we need is lobby filtering like GTA IV's online lobby options but better. If I wanted to find a session with people not driving nooby vehicles and not using nooby weapons I should be able to. At least then the people who want to fight like as if the game is Battlefield can have their own sessions. After all, "it is my money."

A lot easier said than done??

Ah, you must be one of those elite players who can do everything.

I once got trounced by three guys who were just all over me. Two cars and one in a fire truck. I could barely get a shot off due to the fire hose constantly knocking me over and killing me.

They killed me probably three or four times to every once I killed them. Was it fair? No. Was it fun? Hell yes. It was a hell of a challenge trying to kill off that firetruck so I could get some shots in on the other two. I managed to kill it and got three of them on foot. They were good and there movement showed it.

Started to get some kills under my belt and then...one of them shows up in a firetruck and hoses me down again.

Held my hands up, jumped into passive and told them that they win this one.

GTA ain't fair, doesn't mean it isn't fun. And it doesn't mean that you have some sort of right to an even win or something. If you get your arse handed to you all night then that's just tough.

Son of Lucifer

Gah

B*tch and moan.

/thread

I wasn't bitching and moaning. I was merely expressing my dislikes for the game's highly unfair and unbalanced combat system and the players who abuse it. The sooner you realise that the better.

Nope. But you sound like one of those whiny players who can't do anything.

Yes, you are supposed to blow the guy in the jet up. That is the whole point.

Stay alive by any means.

Right, but that is not GTA Online. It's not getting lobby options, ever. Almost 2 years now and it has basically stayed the same. It is one and the same world for everyone that plays. It may be your money, but it is Rockstars baby, and they set the rules from day one.
