[REL|V] Total Real Driving Simulator Mod (Realistic handling

baronesbc

Recommended Posts

Total Real Driving Simulator Mod (Realistic handling for all vehicles, damage mod included!)

This mod makes much more realistic the driving physics and damage to all vehicles in the game, including motorcycles, bikes and planes.

Initially I created this mod for personal use only, but subsequently I decided to publish it and share it with other people who like me prefer a more simulative game.

Every car now has its own characteristics that make it unique. You can feel the weight of the car when cornering, the braking times are much longer (with the possibility to lock the tires), lower and realistic grip, and finally is possible the drifting!

Revised also the damage, now much more evident.

I made changes to the traction, braking, suspensions, the weight of each vehicle including bicycles! I also removed that annoying false effect of turbulence in all planes and helicopters.

I strongly suggest you to play in this mod with a steering wheel, to have an even more addictive experience!

You will find a small tutorial on how to use it in the video informations.

READ CAREFULLY

Be careful to install in the right location the various "handling" files that you will find in the archive.

In order to change each vehicle on GTA V I had to work on several "handling" files in the directory of the game, so you must install all them to get the changes in all vehicles.

Installation Guide:

1- Download the mod and extract the contents of the archive in the desktop or where you want.

2 - To install the mod you need the program OpenIV 2.6, if you have not it, download and install. Read the instructions for the use. It will allow you to install in the right locations each "handling" file.

3 - Now open the folder that you extracted in the desktop, inside it you will find two subfolders:

main handling

dlcpacks handling

In each folder you will find the "handling" file and a document file that indicates the installation location of the corresponding file.

In the "main handling" there are the most vehicles of GTA 5, while in "dlcpacks handling" you will find the remaining.

4 - Open OpenIV (I suggest you to make a backup of the original files that you have to replace), and replace the original "Handling.meta" files with the modified files.

5 - Enjoy!

Can't you just make 1 handling.meta with all vehicles and put it update.rpf?

Share on other sites

I can't, because the handling files that I have modified do not are located in the same file update.rpf... So, I don't know how I can put them all in one file..sorry!

This is nowhere near being realistic man. Stock muscle cars spinning wheels at 60mph? What? Whereas with Turismo R you can't slide sh*t.

if you need to do critics can you do them in a constructive way and clear written (my English is limited)? and maybe with the knowledge that this is a free mod, no one paid me to do it and no one is forcing you to play it ... so there is no need to be aggressive.

Sorry if my comment seemed aggressive, it wasn't meant to be.

- STOCK muscle cars spinning wheels at 60mph on 3rd gear

- fast cars like Turismo R don't slide

I think that your affirmation is a bit 'exaggerated and not entirely true ...

First of all, the musle car are not all the same, some more than others slip, and some are really monsters they are difficult to handle (as in reality) inasmuch they have only power and little grip. Try to play simulators like "Power and Glory" GTR2 , you would understand what I mean.

The Tourism R is a modern super car, with rear engine, and a lot more grip than a musle car, it is clear that will not slip excessively, is natural... and moreover don't seems to me that don't slip anything.

I just tried to balance values, and believe me it is not easy to find a proper balance in all the cars, partly because I have to find the small compromises to adapt the driveability of the vehicle with the story/campaign of GTA V.

Just add lines for dlc cars to handling.meta in update.rpf, I just tried it for zentorno and it works.

Hey baronesbc,

I combined all the dlc cars into the main handling.meta but haven't tried it ingame yet but I think it will work because the guy who did the IV handling has them all combined in the main handling.meta :D. If you want I can send it to you. Of course I cannot upload it here because it is your mod. But if you want it just pm me and I'll send it to you then it is up to you if you want to release it :p. Hahaha :D

EDIT: Came from the game. The only complaint I have is some of the high end sports cars has too much wheel spin. Most modern cars today have traction control already. Other than that it is great. :D

EDIT2: Now I do not understand this. Seems like DLC cars aren't using the ones on the main handling file that I combined while I can clearly remember it worked on the IV handling mod here. Hmmm

@shonen, It works for me, i made a custom zentorno and put the lines in update.rpf handling.meta, make sure you only add the handling lines, no start and end lines.

Hey Thanks for this :)! If you want to pass me the files in private would be great, but could you explain better how to make a single file handling? The fact is that I don't understand one thing:

I have to add all the strings of each vehicle from dlc handling and copy them into the main files handling? But then I have to cancel DLC handling or not? they will conflict if I don't delete?

It is my first mod on GTA 5, and I do not know much about modding, then I would be very grateful.

These days I am going to update the version of the mod, and I've done so many changes from version 1.00 .. so it would be easier for me that I know how to merge the files.

Hey I cannot pm you it says that you cannot use the messaging system or something like that. So I'll just put it here and everyone that reads this can learn too hahahaha.

and do you still want me to send the file since you said you already made a lot of changes so I might as well just tell you how I did it. Btw I already made them work I just removed some of the start and end I mistakenly put in there.

So here's how you do it. Look at the very end of the original main handling. You will see these:

</Item>
</HandlingData>
</CHandlingDataMgr>

You want to put the next handling below the </Item> but take note, you only copy the next DLC handling from the first <Item type="CHandlingData> to the last </Item>. Example:

I am going to grab from the beach handling since that is the first one.

From here:

<Item type="CHandlingData">
<handlingName>bifta</handlingName>
<fMass value="1400.000000" />
<fInitialDragCoeff value="8.000000" />
All the way up to here:
<Item type="NULL" />
<Item type="NULL" />
</SubHandlingData>
</Item>
Do NOT copy the <HandlingData> </HandlingData> that was the mistake I made before and that was why it did not work.
After you do this, the two:
</HandlingData>
</CHandlingDataMgr>
should still be at the end of your newly merged handling line.
So it should look like this. I will also put the end part of the main handling line so you can see it clearly.
This is the end of the Blimp since it was the last one on your main handling
<fOnGroundYawBoostSpeedCap value="1.000000" />
<fEngineOffGlideMulti value="1.000000" />
<handlingType>HANDLING_TYPE_FLYING</handlingType>
</Item>
<Item type="NULL" />
<Item type="NULL" />
</SubHandlingData>
</Item>
<Item type="CHandlingData">
<handlingName>bifta</handlingName>
<fMass value="1400.000000" />
<fInitialDragCoeff value="8.000000" />
<fPercentSubmerged value="85.000000" />

and that was the start of the beach handling. I think that was it. If you still want me to send my merged 1.0 just ask :).

baronesbc, can you do these things to make the driving more realistic?

- Removing the auto-countersteering assist on the vehicles
- Removing the auto-brake on vehicles, when you let of the gas, especially visible on slopes
- Removing traction control of motorbikes, because burnouts (not brake-pushed burnouts) and sliding / skids are impossible now

- Making the inertion and weight shifting of the cars more beliavable

If you want, you and Stoyan could work together to make an ultimate realistic driving mod:

http://gtaforums.com/topic/794187-vrel-realistic-driving-handling-mod/

thanks

Hi, unfortunately for some things I can not do anything because the engine gta 5 is limited... things like auto-countersteering or auto-brake I do not know how to fix it, for motorbikes

its possible to fix traction but if I decrease the value, some bikes fail from a steady climb ... I have to find the right balance, unfortunately the handling for the bike is really bad.

As regards collaborate with other people, already collaborated with another person, and I am okay with him. Thanks for the advice.

This [http://gtaforums.com...ntry1067544960] can help with removing the auto-countersteering assist? I wonder if being able to edit these files could make possible to disabe auto-countersteering assist, auto-brake and traction control in bikes, etc.

p.s. nice mod btw i just want to go back to the gta 5 handling that's all, BUT if you somehow can't that's fine with me
