MEMORIAL DAY, do we get fireworks?

Go buy some IRL.

Maybe its illegal for some people?

How could that be the case?

Uh ..depending on where you live, some places have laws against fireworks.

Oh I agree, but I was commenting on the purchase of the fireworks and surely the only legal requirement is that you're over the age of 18?

No, in many states it is 100% illegal to purchase fireworks.

^ Must admit, I've only been to the States twice but thanks for the info - I honestly wouldn't have thought that would be the case considering your 2nd Amendment.

Georgia is a state where it is illegal to purchase "exploding" fireworks. Open carry of all firearms is permitted though. Lol

Yeah and the first time I was over there, it was explained to me all the various different types of firearms carriage licenses that are available - and what surprised me was how many people had concealed carry licenses! But fair enough, you've got a way of doing things!

Game's about cars and crime not war.

Exactly! That's why this game has rocket launchers and grenade launchers and miniguns and sticky bombs and assault rifles and machine guns and tanks and jets and various sorts of militarized attack and transport helicopters as well as various other militarized vehicles and body armor and militant gear for your characters. Oh wait...

Just like the other 3D GTA games then.

I don't see the issue people are having. Yes people died and memorial day is to remember the dead but wtf do you think they died for? Us to sit around and act like pussies? Today is the perfect day for fireworks, going to the range and let off some rounds, and remember the fallen.

I agree with this. :)

Not really. Let's look at GTA IV for example - it had the annihilator, and then DLC threw in the buzzard and that APC. The same DLC that threw in the buzzard and APC also threw in stickies and that automatic shotgun with the explosive rounds. Other than that, and excluding the RPG, practically every weapon and vehicle wasn't much too absurd for a criminal to have.

Think I'll be setting off a few red, white and blue ones all timed properly on the beach in various PC lobbies later on... As long as I have enough left. I didn't use any on the Independence day update anyway so should have 20 (?) left of each?

GTA IV was the exception. Look at the others.

GTA San Andreas has the Hunter, Rhino Tank and Hydra, as well as a vast array of explosive material too, and tiers of weapons.
GTA Vice City was just the Rhino and Hunter, as well as three tiers of weapons.
And GTA 3 was just the Rhino.

So, with the exception of GTA IV, Rockstar have been adding this equipment as the series has progressed and now with their latest masterpiece (GTA 5) they want to show off more of their abilities.

And then you slowly realize how over-the-top San Andreas was, and that it wasn't the realistic feel that R* had switched to with IV and is trying to go for but isn't do a good job with in V.

I am seeing more and more people that talk like IV was the first GTA.

IV was sh*t content wise.

SA'MP was not produced by Rockstar.

Yeah sorry I had edited the post too late.

And I don't consider San Andreas, any of the Singleplayer missions, or the up to 200 player multiplayer to have been over the top in anyway.

Okay, well perhaps having a blind guy race a car was a bit too much but yeah.

Go buy some IRL.

Maybe its illegal for some people?

Who cares on a holiday like this?

Its not illegal to buy fireworks, most states have dedicated fireworks stores, from what ive seen on my road trips across the nation. Whats illegal, is setting the off inside of city limits. Just take a 30 minute drive and find somewhere in the sticks to set your fireworks off if youre that worried about it.

Hell, i was at walmart yesterday grabbing a few boxes of ammo and a couple fishing rods for today, and there were fireworks on sale right at the entrance lol

And that is bull about GA. I lived there for 20 years. Spent every year going across the border to SC to get fireworks that shoot into the air.

It doesnt even matter if theyre banned, no one ever gets arrested for setting off fireworks on holidays such as today that commemorate fallen veterans, its entirely illegal to set off fireworks in city limits, yet every year on 4th of july, damn near every city turns into what sounds like a warzone. While it doesnt happen on as large a scale as the 4th, memorial day sees its fair share of fireworks being exploded.

My grandparents live 2 doors down from a police officer, and when he's not on duty on holidays such as today and the 4th, guess where he is? In his driveway with his kids, setting off ungodly amounts of fireworks, and guess what? He doesnt give a sh*t if everyone else is doing it either.

I know this isnt a political forum, but i cant stand this liberal "follow the law out of fear" crap. Its a holiday, and i will remember my fallen family members regardless. If that means "illegally" setting off fireworks in my driveway, so be it, come take me away.

Nobody is talking about setting them off. We are talking about purchasing them. If someone lives in the middle of MA, chances are they dont have the means to drive to the border just for some fireworks.

Yes, people do get arrested for it.

Yes, I will obey my countrys laws.

The world is bigger than just you and your experiences.

Hmm I can't comment on how it works in the states, but the city I'm from doesn't allow fireworks legally except during major holidays. It isn't that we ignore the law during the holidays.. it's just special events are the only exception.

My time living in the states has been mainly in California, and I've always been told arial fireworks are a big no. Unless you're permitted to use them I guess. I don't know nor do I care enough to look up if that's true, but I'd rather not do it and find out lol.

i remember when people used to honor our fallen on Memorial Day by lowering the flag to half staff and giving a moment of silence. where people get the idea that fireworks and shooting guns off on Memorial Day i will never agree with nor fully understand.

my respect and condolences to those and their families who have lost their lives for us Americans.
