Why do people feel entitled to ride in my car?

Sometimes if I see a nice car, I'll try to ride wth someone as a form of a compliment. Or at least try.

That's how I feel. If someone wants to ride along they must like my car enough. I see it as a fun opportunity to show off my driving skill by skidding around corners and shooting through traffic to get to the objective unscathed. I leave my PV for everyone, and if it does get jacked I just grab something off the street. The absolute worst case senario is I have to call Mors Mutual after I finish the mission. OP I feel like you should maybe lighten up and enjoy the game more.

Exactly. I think some people forget that it's a video game and that its meant to be fun.

Basically OP is one of those annoying randoms who are reasons why I don't play missions with randoms. I'll much rather play by myself than with some pissy old farts that get bitchy for any reason or no reason.

"I lock my car because I'm too good to give someone a ride but I'll bitch about it anyway because I hate people even TOUCHING MY CAR! Those dirty scrubs TOUCHING! MY! CAR! THE NERVES!"

Ass.

I'm always happy when someone takes a ride with me. If I'm not in the mood for driving and someone locks their car and drives away from me, I know they are an ass.

Actually the OP stated good reasons in post 12 of this thread. As someone who also plays missions with randoms, I know too well what hell it can be sometimes. I don't blame him one bit for locking his car up, as I do the same. I've honestly lost count to the amount of times I've either had my car pinched from me at the start, blown up by a kiddie who thinks it's funny, had someone shooting at traffic instead of the objective, or just sat in there whilst I do the mission myself (Rooftop Rumble is a good example).

Only trust-worthy players are allowed in; e.g. ones I've played a mission with before or someone on my friend's list.

When I play missions with randoms,I either use my own vehicles or,if I didn´t have it out when I accepted the mission,I call my mechanic to deliver me my ride or ride shotgun if I notice the other player waiting for me to get in.

My vehicles are always unlocked for passengers and I always offer a ride to anyone who don´t have their vehicle with them, but I like to drive my vehicles myself because I know I won´t wreck them.I don´t see the point of locking all the doors,so what if someone just sits in my car or on the back seat of my bike.

And I don´t have any chrome Zentornos with $ wheels,in my opinion Zentorno is one of the ugliest cars in game.

I havent done missions lately but I remember a spawning bug when the mission started your vehicle would be like half way across the map.

If that happened to me I think Id be justified in shooting at your vehicle if you refused me a ride lol

I don't have a problem with people riding with me, in fact especially in missions I find it useful when they can shoot at the NPCs while I'm busy driving (or vice versa). That's also the case with helicopters. That's why I also have a Valkyrie after all, so other people can take care of the shooting while I'm busy piloting. That goes for the Buzzard too.

The only problem is if they use sticky bombs unresponsively and blow us up, but that happens pretty rarely and usually is also at least a partial fault of the driver.

The only times when I'm annoyed with having a passenge is in the heist PB setup mission - Station when stealing the Casco. When the passengers shoots someone, we get a wanted level. But in missions I don't find it to be a problem, most of the time cops don't even have any presence in missions.

Besides even if I would agree that there's enough reasons to not give someone a ride, the OP still behaves like a prick for making a B&M thread just about people TRYING to get into his car. If someone is so afraid of other people that they are afraid to catch a disease when a virtual person touches their virtual car, they shouldn't play multiplayer.

I will usually let other players ride with me during missions UNLESS I'm planning on using my Buzzard in which case I'll set my vehicle access to no one for obvious reasons. Just be warned though, if you're riding with me and start shooting for no reason then I'll introduce you to my car's ejection seat (aka. Vehicle Access "No One") and change your status from passenger to hitchhiker!

OP is a dick to people who need a ride, you're probably the kinda person that speeds there kills everything so others don't get a chance to help. But yeah you're grade A dickwad.

Anyway if someone needs a ride sure. Why I have mine always set to passengers.

This (and killing lots of enemies) is how I managed to make plenty of friends who invited me to heists while my 2nd character's level was low. A lot of people don't seem to spend much time racing.

I sorta agree. I always let people be a passenger, and usually they keep calm and mess with the radio on the way to the obective. However, the second they start shooting traffic and/or getting cops after us, i put the car to no-one and leave them.

Alot of you guys don't get it, as OP stated:

****He's talking mainly on the times when the first thing they do is attempt to enter the driver's side AKA TAKE YOU'R F'N CAR.

Then they try to hop in the passenger seat when they realize the driver's side is locked.

So for those saying it's selfish, no...it's not. Why give some d*ck a ride when he/she went to take your car in the first place?

Plus:

- Contact Missions payout more when with others vs solo, if you really want to work in a team based game do so with crew members or friends.

Don't say that locking your car is anti-teammwork, when 99% of the time a random player will drive off with your car anyway if given the chance.

- If a player doesn't have a PV at this point, even if new, they need to get one & not rely on others.

Steal a freakin low end car at least for the first free insurance. If a player over time has put themselves in a car-less position, that's their own fault.

- Issues still arise in police sensitive missions where once wanted, if a random player gets in they must get out or the wanted level never vanishes.

Unless they have a mic or can hear you, they'll sit stupidly in your car all freakin day with you, halting progress.

- As OP said once already, randoms are often reckless for no reason & cause unnecessary failures or wanted stars as sticky throwing a-holes.

* The players who then later in the mission shoot at you or even worse blow up your car in "revenge":

Just shows you were right to leave their immature a** behind.

TL;DR version: Bullet sponges should not be passenger seat sponges.

Actually, maybe the issue is that the OP is not secure in his driving skills. i can understand that. he doesn't want to be embarrassed by being observed and judged as he runs into everything on the way to the start point. :p

Valid point. Sometimes I like riding with people to see how their vehicle performs if I don't own it, or to see how many things they can hit on their way to the destination.

As someone who does missions with randoms often, I personally have my Vehicle Access on Passengers Only, I don't even let friends drive lol. Usually in missions I'll drive off solo because everyone is usually bent on self driving, but if I see someone wanting in, I'll wait for them. A few times though.. doing like Trevor/Ron missions, I've seen ppl with a BICYCLE and I'll usually get there attention or be blunt and ram them to get the point across "Get in.. I'm not waiting for you to cycle 6 miles..." but that's only been like 5 times or less I've had it happen. Never had issues. Also it's kinda funny when its a kid with a mic like "Ooooh! Everybody let's get in the armoured truck :D" I just hate when ppl bail while I'm driving to steal a car or get their pv.. I didn't have to let you in :/ I've rarely had ppl try to get in as driver since I 9/10 get in first. It's usually when leaving objectives like "Ooh! I'll drive us bk to the city ^_^" *locked* "Fine.. I'll ride again :/" I'm guessing op has run into alot of low lvls who hurry to try and drive? :p

This makes no sense, there's no reason to not give someone a ride.

There is one: More often than not I'm heading to take a Pegasus vehicle instead of the objective. And with Rockstar's infinite wisdom of leaving Pegasus vehicles completely unlocked I don't risk having a potential thief riding along.

there are only a few reasons why i hate it when people ride in my car, very rarely this happens and im usually nice and give a ride to my teammates to the destination, randoms and friends, when someone is left i go back to them.

1.they will always try to destroy it from inside

2.they attract cops on purpose

3.they break the windshield and glass and doors when im just cruising in my rides

4.they change my radio to stations i dislike

You are playing a multiplayer online game and in this scenario specifically playing in a cooperative manner. Or the opposite of competitive.

The fact you don't grasp that is called cognitive dissonance.

I would suggest playing modes that are not coop based if you don't actually want to play with other players.

Perhaps vs missions if you prefer to exploit others or use them as "sponges"? Or pretend to befriend people in free roam to then use as your "sponge"?

I do the same and it works. If you plan to do a mission run with randoms, it's always helpful to be the host and being able to get rid of some really annoying players. Its a videogame, but passengers in GTAO can be as annoying as passengers in real life, Whenever I get the feeling I`m driving a schoolbus full of 12-years-olds, I lock it, cause I did not sign up for that.

Goes for both sides, drivers and hitchhikers: You never know what the other player has in mind. He might just go for his chopper and has no need for you in his car or someone just decided that the Surfer is not the best mission car and looks for a ride in your Kuruma instead.

But yeah, there are also some very smart AFK players that would just hide in your Kurumas passenger seat for ten missions and more and I dont see a point in tolerating this.

I've played so many missions with randoms and all these issues raised are so few and far between for me..... Except the buzzard rocket thing.

I personally leave my doors always unlocked.....it can be useful. I don't see the problem with driving other people's vehicles as it is a team mission afterall. Frustrating if someone does drive off but three seconds and they're out. I just leave them to it.....it's funny watching people try to handle a comet.

Im a mission guy, and typically i run missions with randoms, not because i want to play with a team, but because i see them as bullet sponges, its nice not being the only one getting shot at.

Anyways, 9/10 times i do a mission there is at least one person with or without their PV, and that person ALWAYS runs to the drivers side of my car only to find it locked, then they go to the passengers side assuming that ill let them ride with me after i just watched them try to drive off with my car - then they have the nerve to get pissy and shoot my car as i drive away...

I dont usually let anyone ride in my car unless they are a friend, or ive done enough missions with them to know they arent a total scrublord and wont be a c*nt on the way to the objective.

So, you players who are too lazy to drive your own damn car, tell me why you feel entitled to ride in other players cars whn you undoubtedly have a garage full of chromed out zentornos with dollar sign rims.

You sound like an idiot.

OP calls everyone with valid points "butthurt" while it's obvious he is the butthurt (omg, i hate that overused word!) selfish c*nt. Since you need bullitsponges I assume you die easily. It's always handy that other players can use your car when you're dead and their car is for some reason not nearby. If you do get stranded you can always call your car through the inventory menu. So what others trash your car or destroy it? When you call it, it is fixed and when they destroy it, they have to pay for it... OP is just being childish and making an elephant out of a mosquito.

Oh, btw, your passenger (if you play auto-aim) has auto-aim, which since you're playing missions is kinda useful.

But carry on crying.

It's understandable to lock people out for the reasons you listed. I keep mine set to passengers most of the time and lately I haven't had the problem of people randomly shooting or blowing stuff up as we go places. I really don't mind if they do as long as they don't blow up my car, blow up cars directly in front of me, or make me have to wait somewhere for the police to go away. As far as attracting the cops I've had more problems with people driving their own cars and leading them straight to me while I'm hiding.

I do tend to drive my own vehicle instead of ride with randoms because either they'll crash into everything in sight and take forever to get anywhere or they'll f*cking leave me behind if it's a multiple point mission like Los Santos Connection. When I drive my Phoenix or Coquette people like to hop in but I haven't seen anyone try to steal it yet. I have had people jump out while I'm driving, that's usually good for a chuckle.
