Anyone else experiencing lag on the ps4 controller?

So I've been experiencing lag on the ps4 controller for a while now. At first I thought it was just my controller but it seems to only occur when I'm playing GTA 5/online. Basically what happens is there's a lot of delays in movements and braking in vehicles. I'll be driving along and when I go to turn nothing happens and I try again and it turns the vehicle violently. Same thing happens while on foot. So has this happened to anyone else?

It was an issue when the game came out on PS4, but I believe Rockstar fixed it. Make sure your controller isn't broken or anything, and check the controller settings.

I am. Thankfully you mentioned this as I have been a ticks hair away from buying a new controller.

I miss combat rolls regularly and sometimes switching weapons doesn't work and I get killed due to it.

Do you have anything between your Dualshock 4 and your PS4? My controller has this weird problem where if I lay back and raise my legs up and my legs are breaking the direct line of sight between the DS4 and the PS4 it will start acting funky like yours is. It will start taking much longer analog stick input than I'm giving it, like I'll be rotating the camera or aiming a gun and suddenly it won't stop turning for a full second after I let go of the stick. But as soon as I put my legs down and my controller has a direct line of sight again it has no issues at all.

Actually my monitor is infront of my ps4. That would make sense.

Did you turn the deadzone down to 0 and/or turn the sensitivity up in the controller settings? I got a PS4 one just for GTAO and don't notice any delay after fiddling with the pause screen ingame settings. Have to admit I only use the K&M for the editor now :/

For weeks now it has been doing funny things like the auto-aim aiming at the ground and then you have to re-aim, all the while getting shot by the enemy that ypu spotted first and had a jump on, only to get killed instead, throw in the enemies with lag and its hell.

The past week has been the worst though as now at times i will auto-aim and my dude does a 180 and i get assault shotgunned on the back of the head.

I even tested the aiming sensitivity and all that other jazz and nothing got better. im a veteran of the deathmatch scene, so i know when something is up because im not going to just start to stink overnight.

I've gone from a confident run and gunner to a paranoid semi-camper because I cannot trust my shooting.

Come to think of it, i started to notice the issues once people began glitching the heist duffell bags and most recently the invisible shirts,

Hopefully a patch is in the works and we can get back to normal because its frustrating to die because the game is not responding in the manner you are used to.

  • 5 years later...

I was using a basic TV(without any special function such as HDR or Picture modes) and PS3 and I never experienced this issue. I switched to a 4k smart TV(with HDR and some other little complexities such as picture mode).

I noticed the frames of my GTA V were skipping with the new TV unless I put the TV picture mode in Game Mode then everything was okay.

I upgraded to PS4 and I discovered there were no significant frame skips in the GTA V while the TV was not in Game mode so I played it in Vivid Mode because it was brighter.

Later on, I discovered that driving in GTA V wasn't as easy as it used to be on PS3. I later figured out that there was some kind of latency in the pad input. I tried everything possible but to no avail.

Later on, the frame skips started surfacing also which forced me to switch my TV display back to Game Mode and luckily for me, while in game mode, the latency in pad input also disappeared.

Then it became clear that the lag was not from PS4 or the DS4 PAD rather there was a delay in video output from the PS to the TV which was caused by the Picture mode the TV was.

Only the Game Mode on the TV played the game smoothly without any delay in video output.

I hope this helps somebody

This post should be made sticky. Everyone should run their TV in game mode while gaming on it, yet it is so easy to miss. Gaming mode gives lowest latency and does not process the image with filters to make it look better or anything, so you see exactly what comes out of the console. Same if you use a TV as PC monitor

A necro that's actually contributory and helpful. You don't see that every day.
