r0llinlacs
The old popcycle.dat in common.rpf says 25% of pedestrians and cars should be cops. popcycle.dat in update.rpf says 0% cops with a maximum of 1% in some places. WHY did they remove cops??? I KNEW I wasn't crazy. I remember cops on the PS3 version but when I got the PC version, I'm like wth, where's all the cops!? NOW I know why! But I don't know why they would do it! Now for the long and daunting task of fixing it... sigh. EDIT: Ok I am crazy, I was mixing up a modified file as the original, but still, there are 0% cops in the general population... why the hell would they do that. jdwohlever
Ok, after your edit I'm confused. Did they actually remove cops in gen pop ? I still see cops responding to random call-outs. But, I dont remember the last time I just saw one driving around. Please tell me you are working on a fix? If so, need a tester?

But, I dont remember the last time I just saw one driving around. Please tell me you are working on a fix? If so, need a tester? From PS3 to PC I believe they did remove cops, but I'm not 100% sure. I am however 100% sure there are NO cops wandering the streets or driving in regular traffic aka no patrolling cops. You're right that you will see the occasional cop chasing somebody, but that is rare in itself and cops are rarely ever seen unless you're wanted. It took forever (I literally spent probably 5 hours editing each single line, one by one) but yes I fixed it. It will be part of a two-part mod I'm going to upload some time today. I could improve it if I knew the calls for different police vehicles but as it stands now, the police in the country are the same cars as the city police. If anybody knows the different police vehicle spawning calls, it'd be great to know. I simply used VEH_COPCAR 10, and I'm not sure what the call is for country police. I will post back here after I upload it.

If you don't want the gang part of the mod just replace the popcycle.dat MacoroniCheese

Excuse me if it's not, but I'd always loved seeing that, it would make me laugh wondering who would win. r0llinlacs

It doesn't "add more random cops" because there aren't any random cops in the vanilla game to begin with. Random cops are set at 0% in the vanilla game (1% in some places, 2% in gang neighborhoods) and cop cars aren't even in the vehicle calls, so you don't see them ever unless you're wanted. It adds cops to the general population (25% cops, 30% cops in gang neighborhoods), "patrolling" the streets. With cops roaming the streets with gangs who hate them, it's exciting and you're right, always fun to see who wins. Also makes cops a little more difficult for the player as they're always around so it's harder to get away with crimes. It feels more like a GTA game instead of a boring city where nothing happens and gangs are somehow cool with everybody and never commit crimes and cops are nowhere to be found unless you kill 20 people. I have no idea what Rockstar was thinking there. Edited May 26, 2015 by r0llinlacs

I have no idea what Rockstar was thinking there. Possibly to accommodate the new police system, wherein the player can hide or escape the cops cone of vision as you've said. I can't remember, did Red Dead have sheriffs in the popgen?
MacoroniCheese
http://www.gtainside.com/en/download.php?do=comments&cat=600&id=73630 I don't have enough time to fully test it so test all you want! If you don't want the gang part of the mod just replace the popcycle.dat Thanks for this. Really need more cops in the game. Wish there was a way to add more "cruiser patrols" though I can't remember, did Red Dead have sheriffs in the popgen? Very, very randomly. Every now and then you would come across a deputy or sheriff chasing down an escaped criminal, but not actual "patroling" ones looking for trouble. Until you break the law, then they magically would start showing up of course. Edited June 14, 2015 by Wohlever
