Pooka Mustard
I just managed to get my hands on a Steam gift of GTAV. Except, my wish was (and still is) to have the pure version straight from Rockstar, the virgin version, the Rockstar Social Club ONLY one. I don't like Steam to begin with, so I'm offering a GTAV Steam gift in return for a GTAV Rockstar Social Club CD code. That unless you let me know of a way in which I can change the Steam GTAV magically to a RSC one. Any thoughts? Oh, and I got the gift... as a gift. I didn't mean to purchase it if you were wondering. Edited May 24, 2015 by Diego Mustard
mahanddeem
I too wished I preordered the Rockstar version rather than steam. But in reality they are identical(only steam is background)

Pooka Mustard
I don't want to deal with Steam. But I think I can close this trade off safely. Mods can lock now.

Kalvin
Once the PC version is associated with your account, you can download the game straight from Social Club afaik, I may be wrong on this though, I saw an option for it on there but I never went further. Nope, it still asks for a RGSC specific key. Kalvin 1 let your hopes and dreams turn into burning fire! Meegoo
Can't you launch steam GTA 5 directly from RGSC launcher? I mean steam is only starting R* launcher. Can anyone test it?
ClareXoBearrx3R9
I have the stock/RGSC/digital download version; I don't see anything particularly different or unique about it. I do start it from Steam sometimes, particularly when I wish to take screenshots. But then again, to each their own.
Phyxsius-
I always start it from desktop icon. No problems whatsoever from Steam version.
buskape
I dont see reason why you would dislike steam... Steam is like having Hitler control your game library, and you don't own the games you buy on steam, you only purchase the right to play for a limited time, they can terminate your account and all games associated with it for no valid reason at anytime as well. Doesn't work, it asks to launch the game using steam

Yeah right.. While I'll give you one point about the right to play, there is no limited time (and even if Steam would actually end up closing, you would still be able to play). Imagine if Steam was, like you said, terminating accounts for no reason on a regular basis, the backlash that they'd receive.. DRM-Free is always better, Steam still gives us great services. I couldn't have said this better! I own my Steam account for a while now, never had a issue with it, and removing games from your library, that YOU paid for?? I don't think they do that unless it's by request. Also, when Steam ever decides to discontinue their service, I read somewhere that you can backup all your games, so you will always be able to play them. I'm gonna look for the source now... Gforce
I have the disc version of the game and after registering the serial with RGSC, I can either download the game or install from disc, I did however originally play with the pre release R* installer before the game was released, so maybe you can use that installer for entering your game code and then download from R* instead of through steam, not sure if it's possible, but it's worth trying.
