I don't understand, there's a link in the OP that directs to the download page without surveys... in fact I just downloaded the file again super easy. Evilebob Posted June 4, 2015 Share Posted June 4, 2015 Downloaded the latest version and tested quite thoroughly two things of which I can now say quite confidently. *There is no amount of objects, cars, planes, pedestrians, carts, crates, containers, etc that will add enough drag to stop a train. *The latest version is much much more stable... I tested the hell out of ropes and trains with some ridiculous physics happening... no crash. Bravo sir, donation made. One future request if you happen to tweak this script further. It would be nice if the attach worked the same between peds, cars etc. Example.. If I right mouse aim, shoot a ped, release right mouse, then that will attach the ped to me every time. If I follow the same steps to another car from my car it does not attach my car to it. I have found with car to car the attach process is a timed double shot in the same spot. I donated for the grappling hook mod from appreciation, but then on trying to download the shark-o-matic(same author/site), I tried working through the survey process, but one link leads to endless others and I never got an email(or spam) or a working download link. I tried about 6 times diligently across three different browsers which reaches my limit of combining diligence and surveys. I went ahead and donated for the download, but by the time I reached this point my overall download experience was so soured I was about ready to repost that fking file everywhere on the internet I could think of. That's just one download because of course if the mod author does an update, at this point I would HAVE to donate for each version. I've read the author responses to complaints and it's like he's only reading half. All the users who report the survey system is sh*te or broke are ignored or told to go to the site support. It may be the fault of the hosting site that their system doesn't operate correctly, but the Author makes the choice to ignore user reports of issues and continue hosting in a force to pay model. If the creator wants to charge for their work, they're perfectly entitled to. Access to other peoples work isn't a right, and Julio doesn't owe anybody anything. If you enjoy a modders work, you should be grateful for the effort they've put in, not expectant of more for nothing. I'd prefer a better system for compensating Julio for their work than the survey/one time download method, but if thats the way they wanna go about getting paid then thats totally cool and up to them. I think they deserve a hell of a lot more than they're probably making off of the current system, and if they went to a pay for permanent access model exclusively I would totally support it if the prices were reasonable. You don't go making a mod expecting to be compensated, you do it because it's a passion. The joy of creating something. Once money is involved, that passion is gone. Optional donation systems are great, it's just a nice bonus that you don't expect. Also see PlasticTangerine for example, he churns out quality mods on a regular basis and doesn't even have donations turned on. A based mod author right there. I could go on and on about what happened with steam workshop. Stolen mods, half assed cash grabs and "pay to update" mods. It's disgusting and needs to go, there's a huge reason people got angry with the workshop. A big part of mods is that they are like free DLC. If you really want GTA modding to go to sh*t, by all means. Lets have exactly what happened with the workshop happen here! Look I absolutely love this mod, but I am not paying a f*cking dollar to update it from version 1.0 to 1.01. I'd say a lot of users who would of used this mod and who possibly would have donated willingly didn't because of the survey in the first place. All and all @julionib you're a terrific modder, perhaps the best modder (especially when it came to IV) but I think you would get more publicity, users, donations, and just a general happier mod community if you were to place your mods on gta5-mods and place a donation button on them. Hopefully you'll consider doing this. In the end you would still make a profit and the community wouldn't have a reason to look past your mods just because of a survey. I personally can say I fall into that category, but that's def not due to your modding ability. Again I think what you do is amazing and I support you, just wished you would find a better way of monetizing your mods. *Edit: Just so we're clear I tried to download the mod, I used your "survey free" link https://gta5base.com...load/cxgkTKihRB from the front page. I clicked on the big green download button. Only two options appear. "Normal Download- Complete Market Research Offer" "Fast Download- $1 Paypal Donation" if I click on the normal download, I'm then prompted to do a survey. So I'm not understanding this "survey free" stuff. Please consider what I wrote above and thank you for making bad ass mods.
