GriffinC
Hey all, So I've been trying to install texture mods during the past few days and can't seem to get it to work. I have a store bought physical copy of GTA V and am using OpenIV 2.6. I tried installing a few textures such as 4k blood or modified police car textures. I also tried just closing the archive and rebuilding it too but nothing seems to do the trick. As soon as I launch GTA V it downloads roughly 3 gb of data and the textures don't seem to be implemented regardless. This only applies to editing files located in archives such as x64a.rpf however archives located in the update folder seem to work. Please offer me some suggestions on how to fix this. Thanks! darkmage1991
put the mod in the update.rpf, the game loads files in the update.rpf over any files in ther other 64.rpf files. ex: if you trying to replace file in "x64a.rpf/textures" instead put the texture mod inside "update.rpf/x64/textures" Edited May 24, 2015 by darkmage1991 kawabunga
GriffinC
I checked update.rpf and can't seem to find the models inside there. Are you suggesting that I should import x64?.rpf into the update.rpf folder?
darkmage1991
if the mods your trying to install are .ytd files that say to put in 64a.rpf/textures just put the ytd files into update/update.rpf/x64/texture just the ytd files dont copy the entire rpf archive into the update update. heres an example: https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/space-sky-2k the instructions say: 1. Open OpenIV and select GTA 5.2. Navigate to x64a.rpf3. Click on textures folder.4. Replace current skydome.ytd with downloaded skydome.ytd. to install it in update do this: 1. Open OpenIV and select GTA 5.2. Navigate to update/update.rpf/x643. Click on textures folder.4. place downloaded skydome.ytd into the folder Edited May 25, 2015 by darkmage1991

grandola
From what I understand, the game has to be played offline for the texture mods to work. That means you have to go into your firewall and block GTA V, GTA V Launcher, and GTA V Pre Launcher. Worked for me.

Click on textures folder. 4. place downloaded skydome.ytd into the folder Didn't work unfortunately - I went IG and it spat out an zlib error or something of that nature. I manually clicked add and added the ytd file into the update/update.rpf/x64 folder. From what I understand, the game has to be played offline for the texture mods to work. That means you have to go into your firewall and block GTA V, GTA V Launcher, and GTA V Pre Launcher. Worked for me. When trying to launch the game it wouldn't go through with offline mode. It would give an error to retry or go in safe mode - neither of the options worked.

GriffinC
I have solved so: no rebuild file .. But before I deleted and reinserted openiv.asi Did you use the new beta OpenIV or old 2.6? ---- I tried both rebuild/non rebuild archive - I however haven't yet deleted/reinstalled openiv.asi. GriffinC
So I updated my OpenIV.asi file and created a mods folder - this seems to have helped with various textures in particular car textures. I have also manually replaced each file and rebuilt the archive after use. The only thing that isn't working is textures other than those of vehicles - those textures result in a zlib error and cause the game to not load. Anyone have a possible solution for that? You need the OpenIV beta asi plugin, which will allow you to create a "mods" folder in your GTA V directory. Say the car texture you want to install is in x64e.rpf, you will copy your original x64e.rpf file and paste it into the "mods" folder you created. You'll go into Open IV program and open the mods folder and then open the x64e that is inside the mods folder - but not in the original GTA V directory. You'll click edit and manually replace the ytd file and will then rebuild the archive. You'll hit the edit button once again when you're done and then you'll exit. adderall
The same thing happens to me aswell? Expect I can do it in the x64 file but when I try and change a car texture in an update file it says "Server Error" when I start up the game and then makes me do a 3-4g update. After the update is completed and I run the game the textures that I tried to change in the update files haven't changed. Please help it is so annoying, I just want to use the rx-7 mad mike mod but i cant.
