Travel to North Yankton mod v1.0 - by NewTheft (aka TaazR on gtaforums) (youtube.com/newtheft)

What does it do?:
1. Allows you to go through the Los Santos Airport doors which brings you to a fully working North Yankton!
2. The mod spawns traffic in North Yankton!
3. When you are in North Yankton, you can pick up and throw snowballs by pressing 'E', or DPAD-LEFT if you are using an Xbox controller.
4. You can access the North Yankton bank interior!
5. Replaces the Los Santos map with the North Yankton map while you are in North Yankton.
6. Whenever you go to North Yankton, it will be either snowing regularly, or there will be a snowstorm!
7. You can return to Los Santos airport at anytime by going to the plane blip on the map.

Just like my Open All Interiors mod, this mod is amazing for exploring and making videos, especially with the Rockstar Editor!

Installation instructions:
1. Make sure you have Alexander Blade's ScriptHookV already installed
2. Download this mod and unzip it
3. Copy and paste NorthYankton.asi to the GTA V directory

Mod instructions:
-There will be a new blip called 'Airport' at the Los Santos Airport, go to it, walk through the doors, and you should be teleported to North Yankton.
-Press 'E' or DPAD-LEFT on your Xbox controller to pick up a snowball while you are in North Yankton.
-Return to the Airport blip in North Yankton to go back to Los Santos.
-PANIC BUTTON: If you get stuck or fall through the ground, press NUMPAD 9 to teleport back to the North Yankton spawn.

Warnings:
1. Remember, North Yankton isn't meant to be freely accessible so a lot of it may be glitchy and you can fall through the ground. There is nothing I can do so don't bother complaining to me about this.
2. Do not switch characters or save the game while in North Yankton.
3. Don't go to North Yankton while you are in a mission!
4. There is an invisible wall on the road to the left of where you spawn in North Yankton which may block your car. Again, there is nothing I can do to fix this, simply go around it on the other road.
5. Remeber, the PANIC BUTTON is NUMPAD 9. Use it if you fall through the map or if you do something stupid like switching characters.

Love the use of doors and stuff to get there. certainly adds bit more depth than just porting. :)

One interesting thing I've noticed with this is that the dispatch lady actually identifies your location as North Yankton when you get a wanted level, so R* actually record dispatch lines for North Yankton it seems.

Well the game has prescripted police scanner for inside missions, I have a crapload of them, but the more specific radio related to callouts and crimes in open play are controlled by a more creative version that deals with specific cars, places, etc. I've yet to find out how they're doing that, but I know what the audio files are called, roughly. "01_crime_11_351" + "01_crime_assault" which could translate into the woman pinpoint specifics that this can't:

 

 

AUDIO::PLAY_POLICE_REPORT("SCRIPTED_SCANNER_REPORT_AH_MUGGING_01", 0f);

 

 

Trying to make that sh*t work as the use of all that audio goodness (01_crime_assault and countless others) is just sitting there doing nowt. and the police report thing just seems to be too specific to the mission it was intended for. Hopefully someone smarter than me cracks it.

Nice mod. I will try it when I get a chance.

 

Soon, we can finish the map and make it more explorer friendly. But on last gen, the invisible wall wasn't there. I wonder why they added it.

Forgot to mention, I have two ideas for the mod.

 

1. Add a location that you fly a plane into in the north east corner of the map which teleports you to North Yankton. When you leave North Yankton, you end up in the plane you were flying in heading back to San Andreas.

2. When in North Yankton, Michael and Trecor's outfit are what they had in the Hatchet mission. I am not sure what Franklin or Online characters would wear. When returning to San Andreas, they are in the cloths they had when they left.

Legit, great work. I've thought about this multiple times. Using the airport as (imagine this) an AIRPORT, to travel. Once modeling is possible we need to make different maps and use the airport as a hub and be able to travel to other maps. Thus my idea of GTA: WORLD was born. Keep it up.

Is it possible to replace LS police?

Everyone's asking about this, and I honestly did try to implement it, but sadly there is no function which changes the LS police cars into snowy North Yankton ones. It seems the only way is to manually spawn snowy police cars whenever you get wanted which would be FAR too much work for just a small detail.

You sir are a legend! Love how it seemlessly integrates the airport and takes you there from the airport.

 

Feels like you can go on a little trip to get away from sunny los santos. Makes the game world feel even bigger now. I had hoped we would see peds and activity in North Yankton. Someones got to do a fargo tribute now in the editor :-)

 

I do hope we will one day see that online xmas snow in los santos, for single player mode.

This mod is very nice and it's very interesting to have the possibility to travel to North Yankton and explore it.

 

I have an idea how you could make your mod even better.

Implement an option that you can take your car to North Yankton.

 

Like, i don't know - "drive to this point to the airport if you want to bring your car with" and then you'll be spawned at the North Yankton gate... just with your car.

Would be much better than be reliant to steal cars or even spawn some, because there are players who don't cheat and just like to give GTA V more possibilities and realism.

Would be cool if i (and not just me, for sure) could explore North Yankton with a modified car of mine.

 

I hope you like my idea and i would appreciate your feedback!

I hope your mod comes with this ability in the future!

/edit: And yeah, peds and North Yankton police would be a great idea, too (and even a possibility to change the respawn button). But i don't want to go too far. Too bad you won't implement this.

Agreed. That would be great. What would be even better is some kind of physical connection between NY and LS maps, some road, bridge, tunel, I don't know if that is even possible.
