Amidst all the great reviews, does R* really think V is the perfect ga

"10/10" "Masterpiece"

GTAV has the reputation of being the 'perfect' game. Does R* think it really is? Like they reached the limit? I hope they know there's tons of flaws with V (just like every other game) and that its not. R* barely receives criticism and when they do, it gets covered by all the "PERFECT GAME" "10/10" and "$1BIllion DOLLARS" arguments.

Do you think they see it as a perfect game?

**PLEASE NO ONE SIDED, BIASED ARGUMENTS. KEEP IT RATIONAL**

I don't think Rockstar really think of that, they just produce and advertise the game. Then it's released. Then they support it until the next game. But I think they believed San Andreas was gonna be amazing judging by the RIP Opposition Unknown-2004 easter egg in SA.

My oh my was R*s ego big back then! Lol! ^

But San Andreas was great

I'm sure they don't think it's perfect. And even if it was, they would be aware that even a ''perfect'' game would become boring eventually, so they're probably thinking on how to approach the next one, what to include etc.. to make it different.

Not really, every major GTA game gets the same hype and reviews.

No. V is the most hyped up GTA till date. About $135 milion was spent on advertising/promotion.

Then again, IV got a 98 on Metacritic....

It would be real sad if R* thinks they've reached the limit and think that V is a masterpiece. This would mean overconfidence, which may end up in VI being a mess. All we can do is hope that VI doesn't turn out to be below par.

I hope they read these forums and take note of the valid critisicms. This is doubtful, since they care more about the Online these days.

The game does have it's flaws. I don't know about it being absolutely perfect, but it's still an amazing game, worth the wait. I just hope that Rockstar won't focus on online the whole time later on, that worries me. What about Singleplayer? San Andreas is awesome too, I think it's a bit better than GTA V.

I don't think R* is that pretentious. They know they delivered a great game with V, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. No game is perfect if we look at it objectively. And if I remember correctly, they once said they want to do better and better with each new game. Now obviously they can't please everyone, but the least they can do is please the majority while still keeping the series fresh. I hope R* continues to deliver different experiences with the next GTA games. They said they have 45 years worth of ideas, so I'm eager to see what they have in store for the next GTA's.

From reading their interviews, all they care is about the quality of their games. They simply follow on the marketing, taking the game slowly and steadily towards the goal, namely, success of the game through sales. Which is why for some people the delay for the launch of ONLINE was not because of what they told us, but it would risk lowering those perfect scores for V.

I think the better question should be why people STILL give the game perfect scores despite all the disappointments? lol

In the end, Rockstar will surely take the user scores more seriously.

Most creative people never feel like anything they create can be classified as perfect.

I doubt the Rockstar devs are different. I bet they knit pick it worse than this board does.

Don't let the PR team that runs the NewsWire form your opinion of the actual devs.

They will. Whether or not they come to same conclusions as you is not guaranteed.

The the things they hate or see as failures or decide to cut may not be what you want them too.

I fully believe Rockstar thinks V is the most perfect GTA for one reason: GTA Online! You know because it's all Rockstar ever talks about now and it's where all of their resources and priorities lie.

Usually when you see devs talking about games, they have the praise like its a step forward and its our best game yet, but many say they only see what can be improved, looking at things thinking that's sh*t! We can do better. You can't improve perfect, unless there's a double perfect or super perfect? So probably not.

Trust me, they nitpick it more than you can imagine. Solely because they are the one's that created the game in the first place so they know the ups and downs inside out. Dan Houser said in an interview that V was the most ambitious game they've made till date but even then, a lot of things didn't make the final version of the game that actually could have possibly been better than what's in the game right now. If they were overconfident every time, GTA would have been declining at a scary rate even before San Andreas.

If they ever look here, I'm sure they don't think that. Or they think we're ALL wrong...

Think about it like this, almost every GTA has focused on vastly different elements than it's immediate predecessor.

GTA games have been getting 9.0-10 reviews for over a decade now.

If they were so influenced by those scores and praise, we would have been getting the same game for years now.

SA, IV, and V were all received with massively positive reception from critics and yet look at how different they are.

Praise doesn't really dictate Rockstar's direction.

No, R* knows V isn't perfect.

I'd say the same thing. Deep down, Rockstar know they kinda messed up with V.

Rockstar may have gotten high scores for GTA V, but I don't think they're arrogant enough to think GTA V is a perfect game. Nothing's perfect. They know that there are problems within the game.

Nothing is perfect but I am sure they are proud of it which they should be.

I don't think V is perfect, neither is IV. However I feel that IV is a more complete game.

I must admit that I think that Rockstar does not think GTA V is a perfect game. Nothing is perfect, but seeing Rockstar's current behavior, I do think that they made a mistake with GTA V and it's Online counterpart. Fans always wanted a rich and perfect SP experience. Instead, they focused on GTA Online, and R* know that fans of the series since it started were always fond of a true, rich SP experience. I hope that at least in GTA VI, they focus on the SP since they f*cked it up with Online. I did enjoy GTA V, I don't hate it, but there is still room for improvement for many years to come. GTA IV was a revelation, a masterpiece, but it had flaws, so does Red Dead Redemption, a true masterpiece in every sense. Rockstar is still top dog when it comes to developing a video game and they are a template for other up and coming developers for future games. No matter what you guys think of Rockstar right now, just remember that they gave us Grand Theft Auto, they made it, and they are the reason why it was so successful and critically acclaimed. Without Rockstar, we would not have a surreal, rich, and cinematic experience like Grand Theft Auto. Even Hideo Kojima praises GTA a lot and he is arguably one of the best video game director/developers out there.

Its obvious that Kojima wont criticize as both MGS and GTA games are different pertaining to the degree of freedom in the open world. He was impressed looking at the trailer of GTA V before release, someone should ask him, did he still seem to be impressed with the amount of "freedom" after playing the actual game?

Yes, MGS and GTA are very different games, but Kojima is a huge movie buff. As said in his Twitter profile and in his cameo in Peace Walker that he is 70% made of movies. He likes GTA since like MGS, offers a rich, cinematic, and movie-like experience. He even made a trailer for MGS3 referencing Vice City.

The only way to tell is to wait for them to stop making GTA games and then figure it out.

they might call it "perfect enough" why try to reach for the stars when the stars fall down anyway sometime.
