GrindingOnDatNRG
It seems the Forza 3 servers are offline at the moment and one friend told me they are shut down. I am very disappointed and think that is crap. It's not fair. I'm sick of how things work these days. I can still play Donkey Kong on my SNES but they can't even keep the online functions of Forza up? It's just crap they are taking away part of the game they made and advertised and people own to increase their earnings. I find that despicable and get really frustrated when things like this happen. How can they have the right to do something like that. It's bloody ridiculous. No more drifting with friends or other players, no more Auction House which means no buying/selling: cars, tuning setups and decals. People still played Forza 3. I find it stupid that it is even considered out of date! It is a perfectly functioning game. People these days are just brainwashed into buying the latest and greatest crap like the Xbox One. Xbox one sucks! My friend has one and they are seriously garbage. They have really good graphics but that's about all it has going for it. All in all I am disappointed. What happened to the days were you bought something and it lasted forever? I bet in 30 years when no games work online for 360 they will still charge people reoccurring yearly or monthly fees for live despite games not working. I mean I am paying for Xbox live now and payed for Forza so why should the servers be shut down. It's bullsh*t. And the worst part is the message you get when trying to use the online functions in the game is just this: "FEATURE UNAVAILABLE The Forza Motorsport 3 server is not available at this time. Please try again later." What a kick in the dick. Thank you to who ever added the Z! You know who you are! Moving Idiot
It sucks, but this is how things work with all online games. They can't keep the servers up forever, so as soon as the playerbase drops below a certain point they'll pull the plug out of them. I can still play Donkey Kong on my SNES but they can't even keep the online functions of Forza up? That comparison makes no sense at all. Niko Montana
Fun fact: Forza Motorsport 3 was the first game I got on my XBOX 360. Anyway, that's such a shame. I had so many memories with that game, both on and offline. Testarossa, GrindingOnDatNRG and TheOneLibertonian
GrindingOnDatNRG
Haha I know it's a stupid comparison and makes little to no sense but you get my point... lol It's such a grey area. Like, it's not like when you buy a game you get told that it only will last so many years... How hard is it for them to give us a server to play on? It's just dodgey. It shows that they are out for profit and not the fun of the players and fans. Everyone knows that but it's a sad truth. Makes me f*cking furious. It is taking a part away from the game we paid for. I didn't pay for Forza 3 to fund Forza 4 I did it to play Forza 3, on it's box it says it has online capabilities which is now false. So is the message I get when trying to connect. Saying "try again later". That's not how a business or company should operate. It's ridiculous and this sort of thing should be illegal. Dottie
It sucks, but that game has been around for years. looking at it from a business side of view, server shut down is inevitable with every classic game at some point. Forza 4 and both FH games will probably last until xbox live service shuts down for 360 in a few years. They could have kept F3 servers on until that point since its not that far out (~3 more years)
hvcciookay
Why not just continue playing Forza 4. I don't get it. It's basically the same game with better graphics, more cars, and probably more tracks sans a handful that didn't make the transition from F3 to F4. Xbox one has nothing to do with it as Forza 4 is still running strong.
SuperVeloce
Ah, well it's not doing bad considering its 5.5years old now, and FM4 is basically the same game but with more content, I'm highly surprised many people play FM3 any more at all. It is a shame, but give FM4 a go if you haven't already, it's got pretty much everything FM3 has and more, including operational servers (?). Flachbau
Somehow, I was banned from the Forza 4 servers, lol. It's pathetic. I don't even remember what I did. Back when I played a ton of FH1, I was also banned from the servers. To be quite honest, they don't give a sh*t. TheOneLibertonian
Forza 3 was a very fun game. Used to play it back then when I had XBL Gold. FM3 is a fantastic game, but FM4 is an improvement in many ways. FM4 was just phenomenal. The first racing game that blew my mind since Gran Turismo 4. Gran Turismo has gone stale now and I switched to Forza for quite a while back then in 2011. I stopped playing GT5, and played FM4 everyday. Good times..... Now I need to play FM2 and get a Original Xbox to play FM1. Hopefully it's as good or better than GT4. Fun fact: Forza Motorsport 3 was the first game I got on my XBOX 360. Anyway, that's such a shame. I had so many memories with that game, both on and offline. Me too, got FM3 in a bundle with my Xbox 360. GrindingOnDatNRG
So what if it's out dated? Online functions are part of the game that we pay for. How would you guys like it if GTA IV servers shut down because V came out? I guess I'll have to buy forza 4 then. So I have to spend money... Tchuck
GTA IV servers WILL shut down at some point, though. And I'm pretty sure if you read the TOS, you'll find that it doesn't say you are entitled to permanent online support since it has to end at some point. Or else they would keep it going until the universe collapses or they could get sued for not providing the service you paid for.

No more drifting with friends or other players, no more Auction House which means no buying/selling: cars, tuning setups and decals. Except Donky Kong never had Online gameplay so it's not even comparable? How can they do it? They did it because it's an old game it had a good run of 6 year and besides it takes money to run and upkeep servers so why keep putting money into something that's not very popular anymore? FYI, There is a new Forza game out why don't you just play that instead? & To be honest you just sound like a whiney entitled brat who is mad over something stupid as this. GrindingOnDatNRG
For those of you who don't get it you just don't understand. The least they could do is tell is or give us a warning! The game gives an error saying the servers are not available now try again later. The game wasn't designed to be played without the servers. It's a part of the game! The game I paid for. They have the money to maintain it they just don't give two f*cks about the people who want to play it online still. Saying just buy Forza 4 is ridiculous. I'm sure Forza 4 might be a lot better but it is not the point here, I don't care about that. I want to play Forza 3 because I have a lot of money and cars on it. I had just spent $90 on a Horizon Modding Tool Diamond Membership to mod Forza 3 credits and to play online with cool cars and I'd give people money on it and make friends. I don't want to start from scratch on 4 and have to spend money just because the company wants to save money. That's ridiculous. It effects my offline playing of the game too because I would buy custom decals from people and now I can't which sucks. You guys just don't understand because you don't like the game and don't play it. I'm not a sook, I have a point. It hasn't even been 10 years since it came out. I don't expect it to last forever but I expect it to work while PEOPLE ARE STILL USING IT. They could offer a discount on Forza 4 or at least warn us in advance. If my friend didn't tell me I wouldn't even know the servers aren't coming back on. That's not right. Shutting the servers down for the interest of the company and disregarding players views is pure greed full stop. The world shouldn't be based off of the majority like that. If it was there would be no underground music, art, movies, GAMES and stuff because thousands of people don't listen, look, watch or play. I played this a lot, I didn't just think hey I'm going to play Forza 3 for old time sake and see the servers down. It was one of my favorite games that I loved and played often. I'm not the only person that played it. Quite a few people still did and it's not fair on us to just take away our ability to play together with no warning, no explonation and no consideration. I'm in my rights to be upset about this and to say what I have to say, I am not whining by doing so.
Ai®a©ob®a
Wrong thread.. You guys just don't understand because you don't like the game and don't play it. That just it a lot of us do get it....We may not be diehards for F3 but we've all played other games where the servers were eventually turned off. That's just the way it works when the company is loosing money it's just not viable to keep it on anymore just like how everybody loves GTA IV and will be playing it for years to come those servers will eventually get shut down as well it's just life gotta move on. GrindingOnDatNRG
Yeah but the thing is they DO have the money to run it. They just don't want to spend it for the people who still play it. Which I think they should. It all comes down to figures but I know from first hand experience that Forza 3 still had players on that enjoyed playing online at the time of it being shut down. This is my opinion, it's not going to change anything. I just want people to understand that that is not acceptable. The people have little power these days... Is a game not created to be played and to have replay value and fun anymore but to be used to make profit? The world is messed up. Pretty sure all games state that Online Functionality may be retired at any given point. It's the way it is these days unfortunately, and tbf with how old the game is it was bound to happen, especially given how many Forza titles are getting released. It's a fair point though (to an extent, until you started acting like it's the worst thing to ever happen in your life)...I had the same annoyance when they took all the BF: Bad Company 2 servers down, especially since I had just purchased the Vietnam DLC. Which I think they should. If they had the money to justify continuing keeping the servers operational, they would do so. But as it stands, the servers have potentially now been retired. Ergo, it was no longer financially viable to continue having them. So unless you have intimate knowledge of Turn 10's finances (you don't), I'm going to label this statement fantasy. But on the other hand you have to realise that this will happen with just about every online console game these days? As stated, servers cost money, so why bother upholding them for an old game? GrindingOnDatNRG
Well how much does it cost them to keep the server running? You guys don't understand, this is really not right. Niko Montana
@GrindingOnDatNRG You've just got to let it go man. Forza Motorsport 3 was released in October 2009, which is almost 6 years ago. The company can't afford to keep a 6 year old game's servers up, especially since there has been more Forza releases since then, and that with each new installment the playerbase of the last will decrease. All they care about is profit and the newest tech like the Xbox One. If the player base sits at an extremely low level and there are multiple sequels that have bigger populations, how does it make any sense as a business to keep them up ? It's a numbers game and F3 just lost. Be thankful it lasted this long. EA has been known to shut servers down much sooner.
