DJowns
Haven't noticed any performance hit using the in game recorder. I also have used Nvidia Shadowplay but the difference with Gta 5 is you can not use shadowplay/any other video recorder clip with rockstars editor. Computer Specs: I5 4690k 3.9GHZ 16gb DDR3 2100MHZ Ram Gta 5 Installed on a Samsung Evo 840 250gb SSD. - > Also where the in game recorder writes to. Nvidia Shadowplay Clips save to a 1tb WD HD @ 7200RPM EVGA SC Nvidia GTX 970.

QuickGhosty
I tried it along with my buddy and noticed maybe a maximum of a 1FPS dip, that's it. In GTA IV it apparently helped performance somehow

SiN-13x
The performance cost is negligible with the in game recorder. (And I'm using a laptop with dual graphics). They did a really good job with its implementation and I would say it's on par with some of the best game capture services (D3Dgear, Dxtory, Nvidia Shadowplay). marto492
There's no any performance hit even with low spec pc's like mine: intel core 2 quad q9400 sapphire hd 6850 1gb 4gb ram ddr2... DDR2
Omarock
There is no performance hit for me. The only annoying thing about the recorder is that you have to manually activate it each time you boot the game / switch characters.
