Additional components requirements have changed with the release of ScriptHookVDotNet 2.0/2.1. Please read the "You need" section in the left pane of the VAutodrive download page.

 

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR USERS OF A VERSION PRIOR TO 5.0.0!

You MUST delete VAutodrive.net.dll because the new name of the mod file is VAutodrive.dll (without .net in it). Having both files in the Scripts folder would cause serious issues!

 

Hi guys,

I'd like to introduce my Autodrive mod to you. It's a migration from GTA IV and has a long history already.

This mod has a long development history already as it all began with GTA IV. The GTA V version is a migration and has undergone several improvements.

 

VAutodrive equips vehicles with an autopilot. No need to press and hold keys for minutes in order to drive. Enjoy the view and your dinner with your hands free.

- Simply set a waypoint, enter a vehicle and press J. This mod does the rest for you. You can change the waypoint at any time. VAutodrive will recognize it immediately.

- Set no waypoint, press J and you will be cruising around aimlessly.

- Works with cars, bikes, bicycles, boats, helicopters and on foot.

- Select any of several speed presets with a simple keystroke

- fine tune the speed up and down

- select from 4 different driving styles, from obeying all traffic laws to reckless and change them anytime during the ride.

- Let your character do the driving or get a driver spawned.

- You can work the gun of the Insurgent, the Karin technical or the Valkyrie helicopter while a driver gets you to a waypoint.

- an in-game configuration menu for all configurable things, even all the key bindings. No need to touch the VAutodriveConfig.xml ever again. This also prevents from accidentally messing up the innards of the file.

- The configuration will be generated at it's place if it cannot be found (also on first use). No installation errors regarding the configuration file anymore.

- Abandoned vehicle movers

- make other drivers flee from you to resolve traffic jams

- I found a native function that sets the driver ability (not contained in the ScripthookVDotNet). The crash avoidance has just slightly increased (no wonder) but the driver is remarkably faster through the curves now. This change will be in V5.0.0 which I can hopefully release during the next week.

- Detailed PDF guide with pictures, so you get the most out of this mod.

- All key bindings are freely configurable.

SPECIAL NOTE for LSPDFR users: Better set the KillEnemies property in the config to false or you might face that Autodrive kills suspects! Details about how to change settings in the ReadMe.

V5.2.2

- Compatible to the latest scripthook after the september patch.

- Menu crashed with this new scripthook because there is a bug in either NativeUI or ScriptHookVDotNet. I had to disable the informative buttons at the lower right for the fix. Note this is temporarily and you will get them back when the bug is fixed.

- Vehicle should not be invincible anymore after the autopilot has been disengaged. However, I wasn't able to reproduce this issue and so I can't tell

if this fix really works. If not then I consider it's some other mod which causes this behavior.

V5.2.0

- Landing gears of helicopters with retractable landing gears are now automatically deployed when you initiate auto-land.

- Changed the maximum speed preset for helicopters to 150mph as this is the highest value I have measured (Max speed was generally set to 85mph with V5.1.0 before)

V5.1.0

- now compatible to ScriptHokVDotNet V2.0

- you need to install Guad's NativeUI (also contained in this download)

- other preconditions have changed as well. Please read the "You need" section in the first post. I am sorry for this but the developers of the ScriptHookVDotNet have decided to go this way.

- changed the maximum speed preset from 180mph to 85mph (causes a max speed of about 95mph) because the AI driving function doesn't exceed this speed anyway and the handling through curves gets better.

V5.0.1

Minor bugs fixed.

- Driver stopped the vehicle before being removed when the autopilot was deactivated in the middle of a ride.

- Driver was not removed at the target on a slow approach.

UPDATE to V3.1.2

Let's hope this is the last bugfix release before I come to V4.0.

- more bugfixes regarding driver release and helicopter state transfer (just internal things, nothing has changed with the flight behavior itself).

- When you now turn the autopilot off in the middle of a ride you will immediately gain control back at the current speed. No more stopping before. So be aware of that. I think this is more convenient than having to wait for the stop and then accelerate in manual drive again. NOTE: If you cruise (that means no target) with a spawned driver he will, however, stop and leave before you gain back the control.

 

UPDATE to V3.1.1

- fixed a bug which caused a game crash when restarting script mods by pressing the insert key. That nasty little critter sneaked in with V3.1.0. I'm sorry.

 

UPDATE to V3.1.0

- I removed the change altitude functionality. A) it wasn't working anyway with the native function I currently use and B) I think the automatic terrain follow mode that is currently used is even better. The manual altitude change was a remnant from the GTA IV version. Liberty City is very flat compared to San Andreas. A manual altitude setting wouldn't make much sense anyway.

- fixed a minor glitch on the helicopter autopilot (autopilot switched off when right over the target before you pressed the autoland key).

- In case you restart all .net scripthook mods by pressing the insert key, a spawned driver should be removed now and all tasks should get released properly. I don't even know if that was an issue before. Look at it as a precaution measurement. ( @Developers: implemented a Dispose override. https://github.com/crosire/scripthookvdotnet/issues/218 )

 

UPDATE to V3.0.1

- Fixed a glitch where the user was notified about the autopilot still being active right after deactivating it and quickly pressing any movement key. This was what developers call a "race condition". The autopilot was already deactivated but the reset of some flags was still in progress when the user pressed a movement key. I guess that caused some confusion.

 

UPDATE to V3.0.0

- Added an optional autokill feature (default is true). Shooting while the player character has the driving task is impossible but I offer you this compromise.

- Added an optional quick release feature (default is false). When you press any of the movement keys W, S, A, D, Q or Space, the autodrive task is going to be released immediately.

Please read the ReadMe for further information.

IMPORTANT! You must overwrite the AutodriveConfig.xml with the new one.

- Fixed a compatibility issue with a newer nightly build of the ScriptHookVDotNet at https://ci.appveyor.com/project/crosire/scripthookvdotnet /build/artifacts. If you face issues with my mod all over sudden then please install the nightly build and the new Autodrive V2.0.1. Don't forget to copy the VCommonFunctions.dll into the scripts folder as well. It has also been updated!

 

Good news. This mod is still compatible with the game update from June 10, 2015. :)

 

UPDATE to V2.0

Now you can change the driving style while driving. The default keys are Shift+ArrowRight for more aggressive and Shift+ArrowLeft for less aggressive.

You have 4 Driving styles to choose from:

- Normal: Obeys all traffic laws

- SometimesOvertakeTraffic: Disobeys red traffic lights, overtakes but stops or keeps behind other vehicles if there is too less room for a safe overtake. You know that mode from the taxi driver. :)

- AvoidTrafficExtremely: Disobeys all traffic laws and always overtakes. However you will crash if there is not enough room or time to safely overtake.

- Reckless: I suggest you only use this if you want to cause some mayhem with a tank because this style does not overtake in a usual manner but you will run over vehicles in front of you (or crash into them, depending on the size of your vehicle).

 

- MOST IMPORTANT! You must overwrite the VAutodriveConfig.xml with the new version provided with the download. A new setting has been added and the mod would deny working if you try to use the old configuration file. You would also get an on-screen notification about the incompatibility. Either copy the GTA V folder from the zip to Documents\Rockstar Games or copy just the xml.

 

Note: The fine tune barrier has been removed because it has become senseless. :)

 

UPDATE

Oops I forgot to remove some debug messages prior to release. If you find them annoying then simply download the new build (no change in the version number).

 

UPDATE to V1.0.0

- You can now use the turret on the Karin technical and the Insurgent but you have to make some changes in the config before. So please read the revised ReadMe file closely.

- Auto-swim didn't work anymore with V0.10.1. This has been fixed.

- walk handling now fully functional (follows a route and can climb over fences). However, keep the target distance within 250 meters routed distance or your character just stands there doing nothing walks in a straight line to the target.

- working helicopter autopilot. Yay! :)

Caution on high speed presets. You may possibly crash into a hill or a highrise. I also recommend you slow down to a low speed preset near the target waypoint.

Note about autoland: Once you reached the target you see a message "stopping...". Just press L if you want the chopper to land. It does not autoland on it's own because the player gets probably second thoughts or wants to hover anyway (ie for surveillance).

Known issues: Altitude change has no effect yet. You will be flown in "follow terrain" mode.

 

SMALL UPDATE (V0.9.3)

- First and foremost the location of the ModSettings folder has changed! Due to popular demand you must copy the GTA V folder from the zip (I mean the download) into your Documents\Rockstar Games folder now! When Windows asks whether to integrate into the already existing GTA V folder then accept the integration. If done right you should see a ModSettings folder inside Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V. Inside that ModSettings folder you should see VAutodriveConfig.xml.

 

- Character can now walk or swim (also under water) to a waypoint but only in a straight line. Please note that autowalk currently does NOT cancel the task when the character reached the waypoint. Once there you MUST press J again to abort the task.

 

- there is a fine tune barrier at 40mph. This barrier exists on purpose because it is supposed to prevent from accidentally changing from aggressive style to obey style. If you are on a low speed setting (0-35 mph) you can fine tune up to 40mph. If you want to go at 45mph then choose the next higher preset (50mph) and fine tune down. If you are on a high speed setting (50mph and above) you can fine tune down to 40mph. If you want to go slower then choose any of the low speed presets (35mph and below).

 

- You can use Autodrive for taxiing with an airplane (i.e. from a runway to a hangar). However Autodrive is NOT able to fly your plane yet.

Didn't run for me...have the latest scripthook.net...got some errors for ya. Been waiting for something like this, hope you can get it workin!

 

I've tried putting the GTA V folder in both Documents root, and within the Rockstar GTA V Docs folder, same result (Wasn't clear on exact location)

I just saw that

System.ArgumentException: fullOrRelativePath is invalid   at Cyron43.GtaV.Common.ConfigurationProvider.GetConfigurationFor[T](IModIdentity assemblyData, ErrorType& typeOfError, Boolean supressInGameMessage)   at VAutodrive.Core.ReadConfiguration()

and thought it's the same cause (config at the wrong place) as with the GTA IV version. Some people over there simply didn't read the installation instruction. I'm sorry if I have hurt your feelings.

 

One more thing @developers: The repo contains code for walk handling. While random walking works fine, the character just stands idle when I try to let him go to a waypoint. Maybe someone is so kind to have a look at the code (Walkhandling.cs) and tell me what's wrong?

No feelings hurt at all. Awesome Mod! Did some more cruising, it would be awesome to:

 

- Be able to use the weapon while in auto (give EVERYONE the finger)

- Have better dodge capabilities (they cut in and always whack the person in front from 45 and up) this could be a limit with AI

 

That's all i have so far. Those three idiots even use their indicators, like good law abiding citizens.

Awesome work, this should be on the Enhanced Native Trainer as well. Good to just cruise around in the passenger seat sometimes and just enjoy the view. Can't wait to see more updates.

 

And Im curious how sharing on gta5mods would risk infecting with malware? You can link to this page on the mod. What's to stop someone from changing it on here? If anything, it'll only gain more popularity and be noticed by more people. I just find that reasoning highly illogical. Either or, awesome mod and thanks for at least sharing it here.

Thank you, You are the best ---- I was looking very hard for this mod, I have a very bad eye condition, If i focus too much on driving i get a strong headake that hurts too much, I really needed this.

2- Perhaps, a hotkey to quickly repair/fix the car? since the AI crashes the car into others sometimes

and the last, yeah, the AI seems having trouble dodging other cars, specially that becomes obvious when police chases you and spawns directly ahead of you, you see that the AI smashes into the cop car. but as the dev of the mod just said, This can't be simply patched, might be something in the core and not accessible to fix.

Once again, thanks for this mod, My playtime increases greatly because i can give my eyes a rest while autodrive is on.

Thanks for the feedback. I changed the path just now but I haven't uploaded a new version yet. This is a minor thing and will come together with new functionality in a future update.

Enable shooting is on my todo-list and I will also add a repair key. However I can't do anything about the dodging. That's how the AI is programmed.

I will upload it there with the next version which also will have a different path to the configuration (Documents\Rockstar Games\GTA V\ModSettings).

 

EDIT: I got a PM from rappo. Heck If only I knew before that GTA5-Mods.com is his site! I know him well and I trust him. :)

Oh glad to see this, i made a little version of this before and i suggest you to add an invisible ped to make the car look like it drives itself (like with the Tony Stark's car at the end of Avengers 2)

Yes "shooting while the auopilot is active" is not yet implemented but on my todo list.

The driving style will be explained in all detail in the guide (which is not ready for release yet) but it's quite simple:

All speed settings up to 40mph use the "ObeyTrafficLawsOnLowSpeed" setting while all higher speeds (45mph and above) use the "ObeyTrafficLawsOnHighSpeed" setting.

On a second note: "Changing drive style while the Autopilot is active" is also on the todo-list and you will get an on-screen notification with that.

1. Choose between several speed presets by simply pressing cursor right (faster preset) or cursor down (slower preset). The presets are 0, 25, 35, 50, 60, 180.

2. You can fine-tune the speed in steps of 5mph by pressing either ctrl+cursor right (+5mph) or ctrl+cursor left (-5mph).

There is no way yet to adapt the speed automatically.
