[WIP|V] Texture Toolkit

Recommended Posts

I can reproduce this bug only if i delete the file "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\msvcr120.dll" which belongs to the Visual C++ 2013 x86 Runtime. So check if you have this file. If not, install Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 x86 version (the 32bit version, even if you have a 64bit windows).

I'll just reply to you here instead, since it's probably relevant to more people. What I've done and works flawless:

1. Open target ytd in the texture toolkit, export, edit then import your images, save the file.

2. Add the modded file to update.rpf using the method described here: http://gtaforums.com/topic/388289-rel-openiv-including-openformats/page-118?do=findComment&comment=1067461798

Of course you have to use the corresponding relative path for your file.

Be aware that some models have their textures baked into them. For example yesterday I tried to mod some billboards but for the time being we can only edit the high res textures which the game apparently doesn't even use (might depend on the model). The normal res textures which the game actually uses are baked into the model file and thus no change can be seen in-game. Maybe that's your problem after all. Which texture are you trying to edit?

How do I use this?

I copied the files from the rar in the GTA 5 folder, when I open the editor and press load I get a message that the program has stopped working.

EDIT: I managed to make it work on my laptop, but when I import an edited texture, the texture tool deletes the texture from the ytd file.

EDIT OF THE EDIT: Ignore last edit, it just places the new file at the bottom of the ytd file.

Heh. While source code is indeed a good indicator that the file is probably clean and the author trustworthy, remember that everything happens at the compilation and not before.

I'm not saying this file is malicious or anything, i'm just saying that the source code alone isn't enough to consider a file really secure.

why would someone manage to do a breakthrough in modding just to make a virus? it's like someone managing to get models working and he did it just to distribute a virus

Well, it's obviously not the case here but i could see some reasons. First one being that such a "breahthrough" would generate a lot of downloads for a start.

Thank you , I missed it this .dll now it works :rol:

So I've been editing a bunch of the blood textures to my liking... but I can't seem to find the ones that appear when you ram someone with a car/smack your face against the ground or whatever. I've replaced what I felt like is just about every blood texture (and can tell because they're all huge gore piles) except the little skimpy spots on the road and my car that look out of place compared to all the other modded ones that appear from gunfire only. Anyone have any ideas where to look? So far I've modded fxdecal.ytd & peddamagedecals.ytd but they don't seem to hold the key. They've definitely helped, but there's another one out there I'm sure...

hello guys i tried to retexture i did all good then i did rebuild archieve and now it says

OpenIV - Error occured while opening file
Unable to open archive: Archive is corrupted.
also i cant even launch the game can please someone upload x64v.rpf to mega or something i am lost :barf:

it says it has a malware gen. no thanks

What says it has malware?

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I'm 90% sure that's a false positive. He was probably using a useless antivirus. In addition, he published the source code, so that pretty much ends suspicion.

Yea I figured since the source code was posted there is nothing to fear.

Only reason I was curious when I saw that post is because my firewall picked up a TCP request when I first ran the texturetool.

I blocked the request and didn't think anything of it until I saw that Marqurs post.

virus-total said it bro.

Damn, R* messed up again. The Galileo Observatory loading screen background is twice lower resolution that the rest of them. Though the same texture present in PS4/XOne archives is large like all the others, but if I try and export the console texture to dds file, no image editor can open it.

Open DDS files with Photoshop: https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop

Convert for example PNG to DDS: http://online-converting.com/image/convert2dds/

@author: you will add the ability to import/export in other formats other than dds?

When the .YTD archive changes with the tool and replaced in OPEN IV it becomes corrupted. It can no longer be viewed or extracted from the .RPF after any change.. (Vehicles.rpf files for example) I rebuild the archives with the OPEN IV tool but no success so far.. Any solutions for this yet ?

I have the same issue, I can't seem to find a solution. It seems as is some textures dont like having an increase/decrease in file size. I even tried making a resolution smaller yet it still corrupted the archive.

This wouldn't be so bad, but even when backing up my x64v.rpf, and replacing it once it goes bad, GTA V Launcher still has to redownload all 1.81GBs and I can't seem to do anything about it.
