Upgrading, need y'alls help.

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, looking for what's the best CPU+Mobo+Ram combo I can get for this amount of money. $300 give or take, work your magic. I think the GPU will have to come in at another time, for now it will do. If you guys have any GPU suggestions, go ahead!

Newegg preferrably, or whatever is good and respected in the US. Looking to run BF4, GTA5 (if possible?), Project Cars, etc. BF4 and PCars runs quite crap, and both are on low settings. I have a 21" and I use 1920x1080 res.

This has worked well for me before asking in here when I upgraded my system back in 2009 and I thought I'd ask here again (Thanks Warlord! for helping me last time). I'm sort of out the loop when it comes to the new tech that has been coming out, and I'm many generations behind:

Currently I have a

Intel Q8300

Asus P5Q

3GB DDR2

ati 5770 1gb (bought it last year as quick replacement, the 4850 I bought died after 6 years of good use)

EVGA 500w psu (The Coolermaster I had died few weeks ago after 6 years of good use, this is the replacement)

Thanks everyone, in the mean time, I'll see what I can dig up.

Something like that would do:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($68.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Memory: Team Dark 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($43.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $290.97

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Note that current motherboards do not have ATA ports, if your HDD/ODD uses an ATA connector it'd need to be replaced as well. There are SATA-ATA adapters, but those don't work very well.

Also, don't expect any of the games you listed to run great with the HD5770 on board. It also needs upgrading ASAP.
