Honestly I only installed it because I hated the circular map. It just feels weird to me even though most GTA games had similar layouts

Tbh, I prefer the GTA V radar over the classic ones with circular layouts. The rectangular version sort of offers more field of view IMO. Not sure if it's just me.

Yes, that's also another reason why I like that radar variant. It's not exactly a flat map constantly. It zooms out depending on what's happening and it looks like it's tilted a bit in the direction you're facing

I think GTA V Next Gen's minimap is the best, I just like the way it blends into the game. GTA V's is pretty good too, but I don't like it as much, I'd rather have GTA IV's over it.

The IV map UI is a great improvement over what was seen in the III era, mostly b/c of how the health and armor was displayed on it. The color scheme was excellent, as well. Not sure if there's a mod to get that instead but I should look into it.

Also, welcome to the group, DOUGL4S. It's great to have you here :^:

I'm pretty sure there is a mod to get the IV hud on SA. It's probably buried in old GTA pages, between mods from 2008 or so. Back when V wasn't even a thing everyone wanted the elements of IV on SA.

Welcome Doug! Can I call you that way?

I feel ya. I hated the circular map, always and no way to quick zoom out like you can V. I know SA's map very well, more than any other GTA.

I have put over 5k hours into V to put that into perspective going from my GTAO playtime. Although SA is "technically" smaller, it feels bigger. I mean, I hate driving from one side of the map to other in SA more than I do V, even if I had a mod to make a straight line road, I'd still take a plane or a helicopter. Lol.

I like the weapon wheel but it's only useful when you can store multiple guns of the same category for quick switching. I like to swap back and forth in SA to avoid reload animatioms.

I like the classic hud for gun/money/armour/health/time in upper right but that might be just me. Sure you can see more now that it's minimalistic but idk. It's a toss up.

The only thing I hate about the V map was how they squished all health, armor, and ability bar all on the bottom. But then again, I can't see how they'd do the 3 bars with the IV circular map, since they collapse onto each other.

There's this GTA V Beta screenshot found in a dev's portfolio or something:

HighwayStretch2.jpg?format=1500w

It shows V's HUD in IV's style. Not very great, I still prefer the double-bar as in IV.

Dunno how many people here are familliar with the classic RCTs, but I've been doing a lot of it lately...

The first one is a ride I built in a public server on a small lot. The second is the first scenario of the original game remastered in OpenRCT2.

I grew up with RCT1, and it actually remains one of my all-time favorites.

Especially since the community made OpenRCT2, which updates and improves the game with all-new code, and is even compatible with the original scenarios.

Don't kill me but I never got to play any of the 2D RCT games. I started playing RCT3 around 2010 or so and had a lot of fun with it for a while. I currently own Planet Coaster on Steam but I have barely touched it lately. I just don't have enough creativity to make something interesting and worth showing.

I had a lot of fun today in Assetto Corsa. A one hour long session with classic cars on a classic track, Charade, in France.

How worth it is Assetto Corsa anyway?

It's 50% off on steam and I'm considering it, but I've been burned by too many racing games before.

Worth every penny, even if you don't have a wheel and pedals it plays fantastically well with a gamepad.

Don't expect open worlds, it's a track focused game. It has probably the best driving physics of any racing game, maybe with the exception of rFactor which is 100% hardcore simulation. There's tons of mods avaliable; cars, tracks, ingame apps, graphic enhancements, etc. It doesn't have the fancy graphics of GT Sport, but I think this game shines on things that are more important to the true enthusiasts.

Oh, and there's a new game coming this year, Assetto Corsa Competizione, which will be more focused on GT racing.

I never been so much on RCT, but I had the third game when I was a child and didn't know how to play it at all, but this track has always stayed in my mind.

Ah, yes. The tune that played when you zoomed out to appreciate the sights of your hard work.

Still don't know how they managed to cram every second with pure calming relaxation.

As much as I loved RCT1 and 2, 3 was still a great game in it's own right. It wasn't exactly the successor that was expected, and not nearly as loved (by some), but it was still a fantastic game.

Actually, on the topic of music, someone did make a pretty good remix of RCT2's theme.

I also remember trying to intentionally crash a coaster or try to delete catwalks/bridges while people are walking on them, to see if they would die.

f*ckin hell, I was a little psycho.

Might have to find my RCT Disk. I still have it somewhere. Never played RCT2 but I've had some gold days with RCT1. Hours of playing and it was still less frustrating than GTA:O.

A few months ago I found Sim City 3000 in a HDD here, so I tought I'd give it a try for the first time in over 10 years. I actually forgot how hard that game was (or how to play it altoguether), as all but one of the 5 cities I've created went bankrupt in 10 minutes, and the other ended up like a post-apocalyptic Detroit. 9 yr-old me was a better mayor than now me.

But it made me remember how much I loved that game, way before Cities:Skylines and all that. Building a replica of a real-life neighbourhood in my city was amazing.
