Something like that, story is great and all but it does nothing for a game when the gameplay is sh*t or lacking and it certainly doesn't magically fix a games flaws and stop a game from being a cash grabber.

funny enough, SA had like the worst Storyline (cool missions, but could a ghetto dude break into a secret base and steal a jet and blast some ships and run a casino....) although that, it got a lot of support.

Times change sadly, GTA San Andreas is still my second favorite GTA because of it's variety and diversity, not it's dumb gangsta story, GTA VCS is my third favorite for that matter, another GTA that was criticized for it's story.

Yeah I loved SA for its contents and stuff that you can do while playing. I could roleplay with ALL my favorite Cartoon characters all at once in the past and that's what I love in GTA.

 

anyways, sure. storytelling in a game is one of the main pillars. you need a storyline to know what the heck is this game about.

but what about GAMEplay? GAMEplay is the heart of the GAME. without a decent gameplay, its not a game. its a playable/control-able movie/book.

Agreed 100%, people assume I think story is useless, but that is not what I think, what I think is that story does nothing for a game with bad gameplay or one that lacks enough gameplay and that sometimes, story has to be toned down slightly to make gameplay great.

to me gameplay and storyline are like the arrow and the bow.

without the arrow (story) the bow will be useless.

without the bow (gameplay) you can't use arrows at all.

I've looked at it the same way with the wheels and the car, my problem is that people want cars so big that the size and shape of the wheels has to be reduced and changed to the point where it would be very uncomfortable to drive. in your case, people are expecting arrows that are so big that attempting to fire them would ruin the bow. I've also come across people who think that living the bow and the wheels is childish, hence the reason I have my sig.

What game are you playing where it is hard to climb ladders in the water? All you do is swim to the ladder, press triangle whilst moving to it, BOOM you're on the ladder! Its no different that walking towards a ladder...
