bensons
Hiho, is the car engine sounds located in the vehicles file? I can't seem to figure out what value it might be under. I found this for the bf injection vfxInfoName>VFXVEHICLEINFO_MOTORBIKE_GENERIC</vfxInfoName> could vfx be the engine sound? cheers Edited May 12, 2015 by bensons
MinnesotaFTW
Nope. VFX stands for "Visual Effects".

NaidRaida
I've found a way to swap the engine sounds: Inside the vehicles.meta file each car has this entry: <audioNameHash/> I took the Schwartzer and changed this to: <audioNameHash>VIGERO</audioNameHash> Now the Schwartzer sounds like a Vigero. Nice. I knew it was that section but I was trying to use the model hashes since the name is "audioNameHash". I tried to use the 0x425EF or whatever versions instead of the names. JennyC6
Anyone know where the actual sound files are stored? There's only so much we can do about R*'s terrible sound design when it comes to engine noises when the only proper sounding V8 in the game is the one in Trevor's pickup truck, all the I4s sound like food blenders, the supercars sound more like a V6 Mustang than a V12 exotic from Italy, etc.

Deceitful-Fox
Dumb question perhaps, but... where is vehicle.meta located? Edit: Nevermind, found it. Edited May 15, 2015 by Deceitful-Fox
NaidRaida
Nice one Naid! This info needs to be logged somewhere. No problem. This was simply try and error principe. I couldn't find anything else in that file related to audio. I even don't know if that is the "correct way" to swap sounds but I didn't find any sideeffect so far. Even the car name is displayed correctly. In IV you got a different car name on the HUD when you swap sounds. I've put a small tutorial here: http://gtaforums.com/topic/794759-how-to-switch-original-car-engine-sounds/ Edited May 15, 2015 by NaidRaida

I changed a cop-car to have a non-cop sound profile and I can no longer activate the siren (though the lights still work)
