Welcome to the Ez guide to heists and the criminal mastermind challenge. Here you will find easy methods for every setup and heist, explained using custom maps, screenshots gifs and a few videos. Text will be kept as brief as possible and specific strategies aimed at the criminal mastermind challenge can be found at the end of each setup, under the heading mastermind tip.
 
This guide will be helpful to everyone from the street thug looking to graduate from two bit stick up jobs to the professional thief looking for the next score
 
While there are no wrong ways to do a heist, as long as you survive and complete the objective, there are definitely easier ways, and this guide will show them to you in a clear, simple, manner. Scroll down to the setup or heist you want to do and click the spoiler box to open it
 
To start there are some tips for heists in general, then each heist in order followed by some thank yous, a brief "disclaimer" and some links to other useful gtaf threads

After taking over a year away from gta, I've comeback to find that all these methods still work and can be improved upon. I've been through every heist and added new things to the guide, including lots of new gifs, some new methods, such as the definitive kuruma method for the pacific standard job and refined what was already here, I may have even caught all the typos!

 

Most of the new stuff will be in boxes like this but some of the descriptions have also been tweaked to reflect slight changes, there will be a more detailed change log in the comments

 

Last time I checked this guide had about 2000 views and now it stands at just over 7000! Meaning that even if just 10% followed the guide and got the criminal mastermind reward it would have made $7 Billion gta$ which is a hell of a lot of shark cards!

Tips For All Heisters
 
 

 

Slow Is Smooth, Smooth Is Fast
 
When on a heist do not rush, take your time and go slow.
Even during missions with a timer there is no need to rush, going slow and being safe is quicker than dying and restarting
 
Leave Your Ego In the Planning Room
 
Higher level players (60 +) can carry more armour and snacks so they will have a slight advantage
Sometimes you will be up front in the thick of it, dropping targets, blowing up helicopters, saving the day
Sometimes you will be waiting in the car, deal with it
 
Checkpoints Don't Always Matter
 
With a few notable exceptions (which I will cover) checkpoints do not matter, you can head straight to the objective more often than not
 
Colour Outside The Lines
 
Most of the time it's easier, safer and quicker not to follow the gps line, so cut corners and go off road
 
The Armoured Kuruma, Get In And Win
 
The armoured kuruma is 95% bulletproof and as such is the single most useful vehicle in a wide range of setups, if no one in your crew owns one, which is unlikely, buy one a s a p
Remember it takes money to make money!
 
The Best Weapon Is Your Headset
 
Do you need a mic to do every set up? No
 
Will it make every set up and heist a lot easier? YES
 
 
Go to any clothes or gun shop and purchase a heavy combat outfit or heavy utility vest, then save it as an outfit. In the lobby the host can change "heist clothing" to "player saved outfits" instead of from selection. This will provide extra armour in heists, and limit your ability to sprint but it's a price worth paying (see link above)
 

12/16 Update The Scarf Trick

 

When wearing a player saved heavy combat vest on a heist, go to style, accessories, and then equip a scarf. This will remove the vest, but keep the damage resistance it provides, it will also allow you to sprint. Use this at your own risk as being able to sprint is not necessarily an advantage

 

Scarves can be bought from clothes shops at the counter

 

Leave Your Menus Open
 
Most of the time you can leave your quick menus open and have your armour / snacks highlighted, then just tap a / x as needed. Saves time and is more effective than keeping your head down. The only time you shouldn't do this is after the tunnel on the pacific final or if you are using sticky bombs
 
The Best Offence Is A Good Defence
 
Where ever possible play defensively, stay in the car, stay in cover
Play smarter, not harder
 

 

 
Before Beginning Your First Heist
 
 

 

 
I would recommend being at least level 20 before heisting and at least level 40 before playing on hard
 
Tools Of The Trade
 
The dlc weapons, on the right in every gun shop, have no level lock so you can buy them from the beginning and are amongst some of the best weapons in the game
Purchase A special carbine, heavy shotgun (both with extended mags, scopes, grips and suppressors) and a homing launcher, remember it takes money to make money
 
Buy An ARMOURED Kuruma
 
While the $500,000 price tag is steep its worth every penny as it will make many set ups a walk, or rather drive, in the park. It unlocks after the fleeca job
 
Learn How To Lose 3 Stars
 
Take some time and get used to losing 3 star wanted levels, this will help later on. Outside the city go off road, inside the city use alleys, the ls river and subway tracks.
Find a way that works for you
 
 
The Second Best Weapon Is Player Saved Outfits

Doing each heist , in order, with the same team, without dying will get you ten million dollars. It sounds a lot harder than it is, use these methods and its easy
 
 

 

MASTERMIND TIP
 
Each method in this guide can help you do this challenge but there are specific strategies for some, these can be found at the bottom of each section under the mastermind tip heading
 
Practice At Least One Job
 
Before beginning you must do a random setup or heist first this will prevent a glitch that can reset your progress, but really you should run any set up you are not comfortable with, we all have one!
 
Michael, Franklin And Trevor Can Help
 
Outnumbered, out gunned, out of armour, staring death in the face? Switch characters, this is the fastest way to quit before dying and will not fail the challenge
 
The Losing Edge
 
If things aren't going you're way, fail. Failing any setup or heist will not fail the challenge so find a way to do so that you are comfortable with, for example say you take 3 rocket hits during the labs heist but manage to collect the ground team. When everyone is in it triggers a checkpoint so get everyone out and (well) clear then blow up the valkyrie, failing the mission but giving you are fresh chopper for the last bit
 
Ex-plosives
 
Avoid using explosives, or limit them to one man. Sticky bombs should be ruled out when moving too as they can be glitchy
 
More Armour
 
Fill up on armour and snacks when ever possible, same for the kuruma, stay in it when ever possible. Also have two parachutes at all times, better to have and not need than to need and not have!

THE FLEECA JOB
 
Not going to go into a lot of detail on this one because, frankly, if you are having trouble you aren't ready for heists.
That being said:
 
 

 

 
When stealing the kuruma attack from both sides, one man close with a shotgun, one at range with a rifle
 
There is no easy way to do the hack, use the d pad and stick with it,
same with the drill no trick to it just push forward slowly and don't rush

THE PRISON BREAK
Lets face it, you belong in prison, so put on some Johnny Cash and start making a shiv, because you're going to the clink, but follow the plan and you won't be there long!
Hs Plane
This one is very simple but can be a little challenging

 

Take your team in a kuruma to the airfield and drive straight into the hangar, once inside make sure its clear then have two men take cover by the doors and start dropping targets.
The other two can stay in the kuruma and drive around dropping targets too, or all four of you can be in the hangar or kuruma

There will be two waves of enemies coming from both ends of the runway so stay in the kuruma or the hangar till they're dead, there's also good, not great, cover on the opposite side of the hangar near the wood, you can run in the red container too
Once that's done get in the bulldozer, near the middle of the runway and clear a path for the pilot to take off, fly high, land slow

Hs Bus
Another simple one that's easily prolonged or failed without team work

 

Take all players in one car to the bus. drive in front of it and have a single passenger shoot the driver from inside the car
when the driver's dead one man shoots down the chopper, one takes out the follow car and one man steals the bus
have the bus driver go off road straight away to start losing the cops, while the other players get back in the car and act as a diversion, try not to kill too many cops just enough for them to shift focus to you and not the bus
Once the bus is clear lose the cops, head to the marker and your done
Below is, an admittedly sloppy demonstration, its not pretty but did the job

Hs Station
The team splits up for this one, cargo ship can be trickier so higher level players are better suited
Cop Team

 

Drive to an area with good getaway routes, say the edge of the city and dial 911 (press x on contacts to bring up keypad) a minute later two of lspds' finest will drive to your location, kill them and take their car then lose the cops
You can try jacking them to only get a two star wanted but this is unpredictable and you can do it anywhere so pick a good spot and three stars isn't a problem
Once that's done grab the schedule, destroy the car and you're done

 

Cargo Ship Team

 

 

 

Drive to the cargo ship and climb the first big blue crane ladder you come to, once at the top you will climb down a short ladder and be on top of the big blue crane
Walk past the small ladder, heading away from the ship, till you see a small platform with a rail around it, climb over the yellow engine block and turn to face the ship
From here you can easily take out the three guards standing on the containers
Now head back along the crane and collect the parachute, line your self up with the edge of the ship, to the left of the target, jump over, open the chute and turn 90 degrees to your right, ideally hitting the target container face first and hit y or pull back on the left stick and aim for the next stack over

This is tricky (you can practise in free mode but the target container is not there) if you do miss and fall in between the containers don't panic, take out anyone near you head to the water side of the ship and run to the front end. From here its easy enough to climb back up to the target and steal the car. Its still easier than fighting through close quarters
Once in the car lose the enemies chasing you and the cops in which ever way you want, you are near the ls river, an industrial area with lots of alleys and the train tracks

 

Hs Wet Work
Again this splits the team in two
City Hall Team

 

Take a kuruma and drive to the location, leaving the kuruma parked near the base of the ladder. climb up and head to the marker
Two targets will drive up and get out, one carrying a case one without. Shoot the man with the case almost immediately, this is important for two reasons, it makes the case easier to collect and causes the driver to panic and speed off, knocking the second target down. If you're not great with a sniper rifle (like me) you don't have to use it

Once both targets are dead head back to your kuruma ( you can fall instead of getting back down the ladder ) and drive round the block to approach the case from the opposite side
Once the case is on the drivers side, drive up to it, get out, grab it, then get back in while the passenger provides cover from inside the car.
This is far simpler than having the passenger grab it and still provides cover between you and the cops. Don't get drawn into a fight put your foot down, lose the cops and you're done

Mansion Team

 

Have one man wait outside in a fast car or bike, while one climbs the wall and heads round the right side of the house. Take out the guards as you go and stay quiet, once you reach the garden turn around and shoot the target
If you are spotted the target will run out in one of two ways, either literally running right past the man on the inside or towards his driveway, if its the driveway have the outside man drive round and kill him, leave the area and you're done

MASTERMIND TIP
Eliminate (what little) risk there is by sniping the target. Go to the house to trigger the cut scene together or separately then head directly south to the sports field, see map climb the outer wall and snipe the target. Have one man wait out side the targets house in case the shooter misses, its easier to see in game

HEIST : THE PRISON BREAK
This is a very tricky heist, there's no silver bullet, it requires teamwork. Instructions are split into two parts, rescue and extraction, then divided into roles
Set your highest level player as the guard and second highest as the prisoner, they will be doing a lot of fighting. Set your best chopper pilot as demo and your lowest level player as pilot
RESCUE

 

PILOT
Go to the plane and wait till the counter hits three minutes, it only takes two minutes, at most, to fly over the prison ending the countdown. This will also buy time for demo to be in the air ready before you are anywhere near and reduce the amount time you have to deal with jets drastically
Once over the prison fly behind the jets, they cannot hit the plane if you turn with them, if they do get a missile lock, loop and bank to shake it. Keep doing this until its time to land

DEMO
Steal, then destroy the bus, liberate the buzzard and take off. As a team decide whether or not you are going to attack the jets, each has its pros and cons
Not attacking the jets, just having the pilot follow one is safer, but will take you off course meaning the ground team are exposed longer
Attacking the jets means the pilot can stay closer to the airfield
If you are attacking start shooting down jets they will fly in from the west and north east so watch your minimap and you will have plenty of notice.
Keep doing this till ground team reach the exit and the jets will break off

PRISONER AND OFFICER
The prisoner will only have an ap pistol with limited ammo but you can stop and buy ammo and / or a gun on the way (patched) the officer can drop weapons for the prisoner, this can be inconsistent but now your only choice so find an area, not dessert, and try it out. Dropping the special carbine will not cost the officer, as it will be added again free during many setups
Once inside the prison start walking till you are under the building in the shaded area then shoot the guard in front, the two behind and the last one on the walkway above you, who can be shot through the walkway without risk to the shooter

Make your way to the ladder on the right, climb it and follow the walkway round till you see the yard
Take out the guards on the ground and on the walkways, then once its clear have the prisoner move up and meet reschovsky reinchavsky the principle

This is going to be a hard fight so take your time
The (better armed) officer should take point and move cover to cover, grey box to grey box, concrete barrier to concrete barrier with the prisoner providing back up
Watch out for guards on the higher walkways and go slow, the combat mg works well but any assault rifle will do. There are health packs and armour dotted around if when you need them

Once you're clear get in the armoured van and head to the airfield (assuming that's your pilots landing site)

 

EXTRACTION

 

The faster this is done, the easier it is
PILOT
As soon as the jets are gone start to land, ideally touching down on the western end of the runway, as the ground team nears. Landing at the airfield is the easiest, most recognised way and provides plenty of space for the demo team to rain down missiles.
Position yourself for a good take off and don't forget you have to press right on the dpad to open the door for the team
When, and only when, the team and the principle are aboard take off, climb, then loop and bank to lose the cops. This can take a while ( it can also glitch but this is rare )
Once the cops are gone hit the checkpoint from any angle and parachute to the beach

GROUND TEAM
Drive to the airfield / plane and park on the side of the plane with the door on, if the plane is facing you it will be your right. Shoot any cops and cover the principle as he gets aboard, (the principle can be unpredictable so don't stop till you're ready), join him on board the plane, order a drink and take a well earned break till its time to parachute
DEMO
This is your time to shine! A well placed missile can mean the difference between success and failure
Hover near the end of the runway and cover the ground team as they approach shooting as many helicopters and police cars as you can
Try to keep the runway clear for an easy take off but be careful! When the plane is up shoot down any choppers you can, if they get too close the police have the advantage so drop down / climb and speed up to lose them
Lose the cops and follow the plane, wait well away from the beach for the rest of the team to make it to land, land carefully, pick them up and fly back to the city for drinks!

GROUND TEAM AND PILOT
Parachute to the beach, give the buzzard plenty of room to land then climb aboard and you're done!

 

PLAN B


You can land the velum nearer the prison but you must be sure you can take off and that the van can reach you, also that they know where you are! The field in between the prison and the satellite dishes works well, so does the road nearest the prison. Make sure the demo team is in rocket range but not too close to be hit by the prison anti air
The buzzard can also provide support to the ground team in the prison but the effectiveness versus the risk of getting shot down by the prisons anti air is debatable at best

THE HUMANE LABS RAID
Compared to the prison break, this is a day at the beach, a long day, with cold beer. The Labs require very little actual team work and there are plenty of tricks to keep you a step ahead
Hs Key Codes
An easy, but fun, one to start

 

When you arrive at the car park knock down the fence near the entrance, this will allow a clean shot with rpgs or gl rounds later
For now have everyone take their positions, ground team must holster their guns, and wait
After the cutscene, have the lookouts deal with the front, an rpg/gl shot past the knocked down fence works well if not rifles, then the south lookout should focus on the middle / front and the north lookout should cover the rear / front
Ground team should take cover by the cars till they can safely move to either side of the middle alley from here they can easily cover both the middle and rear
Most of the enemies will come from the middle and few from the rear keep shooting till the briefcase drops when it does north lookout should ideally stay put, however they can climb to the roof, in between waves. You may feel exposed but you are quite safe and will have a great vantage point
The case will drop, have one of the ground team collect and return to cover, this will trigger the second wave. While the whole team can drive out at this point its easier to stay together and fight clear as a team
Just like before stay in cover take out the feds then head home and you're done

MASTERMIND TIP
If necessary have ground team use the garage near the front to stay safe while the lookouts attack from a safer position

 

Hs Insurgents
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast

 

Drive the team in a kuruma right into the middle of the testing ground and clear out the guards

Get in the insurgents, two in each, put your highest level player on the gun and wait for the choppers to get close enough to shoot down

Follow the route slowly stopping to take out jeeps as you go, use the mounted gun and sticky bombs or grenades, you can go off road if you feel comfortable, but remember a bad roll can kill the gunner
The insurgents are virtually bomb proof, but have large non armoured windows so watch out, keep your menu open and watch your health
The gunner can press right on the dpad to duck back inside, and switch players to keep the gunner alive
While you can just put your foot down, this increases the chances of getting swarmed and shot to death

 

Hs E.M.P.
You are entering a zone of danger

 

Board the ship and move onto the lower deck taking cover and dropping targets, pay close attention to the enemies on the raised platforms and be aware of the explosive missiles and planes

Keep going till you reach the stairs at the back on the right, go up, equip a shotgun and go through the middle door
Clear the guards and take cover inside either door or behind the wooden box and start clearing the flight deck, move out and clear any remaining guards then get in the planes

Let the lasers take off first, one at a time, then have the hydra take off remember to press right on the dpad to switch to thrust mode once up. This will trigger the enemy jets
The enemy jets will chase the hydra so climb high and start flying around while the other pilots shoot them down
Take your time, watch your mini map give each other plenty of room get behind the enemy and shoot them down with rockets

After the enemy jets are down fly the hydra to the air field switch to hover mode, descend and land in a clear spot then switch back to thrust mode and drive into the hangar slowly using lb / l1 and rb / r1 to steer, this can be tricky so take your time
MASTERMIND TIP
Jump in the hydra to trigger the jets then get out and take cover, this will cause the enemy jets to fly around not shooting, although its not hard to lose a missile lock in the hydra any way,
you are far more likely to die from crashing into each other so divide up the air space by height one low, one middle, one high and the hydra on top

 

Hs Valkeryie
Merryweather don't surf


Drive the team in a kuruma and head through the warehouse straight to the valkeyrie. Clear the guards, making sure to get the one on the crane and the one behind the valkeryie
By this time the buzzard will be on you so take it out with a homing rocket and get in the valkeryie

Take off and take out the choppers with the front gun, you may get a few shots in with the minigun but the front gun is the way to go
As the pilot fly just above the enemy choppers and try to keep the nose pointed at them, turn with them, listen to the gunner and pull back on the right stick to look under the chopper to see where the gun is facing, you can also press right on the dpad to look though the guncam but this is slower and largely unhelpful, bank sharply or drop to dodge missiles, you can take a few hits but not many

As the gunner pay close attention to the bar in the top right of the guncam screen and where the triangle is. This tells you where the gun is facing in relation to the nose of the valkeryie
Think of it like a clock face, 12 o'clock is when the triangle is in the middle and the gun is facing dead ahead, 8 o'clock is when the gun is facing full left and 4 o' clock is full right. Avoid zooming, as it limits your field of view, and try to avoid moving the cross hairs diagonally, as it's slower
Put down the choppers and land slowly
MASTERMIND TIP
Drive through the gate to trigger the buzzard then reverse and get everyone out, then shoot down the buzzard from range. You can also land on the roof of the building you drove through and get out to shoot down the choppers, however this will take a long time and isn't really worth doing, you are better off getting some practice in using the valkeryie or bailing out if you take to much damage and restarting

 

Hs Deliver EMP
A solo sneaking mission


This is by far one of the easiest setup missions and can be done solo in around five minutes. Set it to hard for extra rp, designate one man the shooter and watch the video for a solo method
This video was taken with randoms, which is why they are following me, players should ideally wait in the insurgent and drive in to the car park as soon as the shooter reaches the gate
With a proper team its easier to have a second shooter clear the two guards near the parked insurgent, from behind with a suppressed shotgun, and the two scientists near the cages, from behind, at range, with a suppressed assault rifle, but only when the middle area is clear
Drive the insurgent in, hack the keypad then drive out in the humane labs van, without shooting

 

HEIST : THE HUMANE LABS RAID
This is a very easy heist and pays well. The pilot and gunner can make or break this heist they have two sets of instructions

 

PILOT AND GUNNER
The pilot and gunner need to work together on this, the gunner can only hit what the pilot shows them

Take the two front seats and fly the valkeryie to the checkpoint high above the labs so the ground team can jump out
Once the ground team breach the doors, drop down and fly low over the car park so the gunner can start taking out guards. They are little more than target practice and pose zero threat to the ground team, despite what the dialogue claims

The only threat is the enemy buzzards
As the pilot fly just above the enemy choppers and try to keep the nose pointed at them, hover and let them come to you. Turn with them if they pass, listen to the gunner and pull back on the right stick to look under the chopper to see where the gun is facing, you can also press right on the dpad to look though the guncam but this is slower and largely unhelpful, bank sharply or drop to dodge missiles. You can take a few hits but don't panic till the blades start cutting out

Watch the minimap as soon as they appear fly out to meet them but stop and hover before they get too close, the quicker you put them down the easier this will be keep repeating this until the ground team is out. Be aware that a buzzard exploding next to you will do double the damage of a missile
GROUND TEAM
Once you arrive at the checkpoint jump out and parachute to the car park, watch out for lamp posts. Blow the keypad on the shutters and head in, use a rifle and clear the first area, then switch to shotguns for the rest of the mission, they do not need to be suppressed
Go slow you will only encounter around four guards at a time so there is no real threat, take your time and make sure you put the guards down before moving on

Crack the double lock, its easy just watch each other, then get in the lift when the door opens there will be a guard in front of you, drop him and move to the cooling tunnel
Equip your rebreather by pressing right on the dpad when prompted, jump in the water and swim out through the tunnel
IF YOU HAVE BOUGHT REBREATHERS YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST THREE if you have rebreathers you have bought from the gunshop you will not get the four it gives you, only what you already own so if you only have two use them up or buy more BEFORE the mission starts
Once you surface walk on to the beach to trip the checkpoint, then go back and stay in the water while the valkeryie lands, if the pilot doesn't know where to land put up a flare and get back in the water. It is a lot safer this way if you die while the chopper lands it is your own fault.

Its far easier and safer to swim to the large, flat, open, beach directly behind the lab (see the bottom pic) then either trip the checkpoint from the chopper or walk onto the small beach first then swim to the chopper
PILOT AND GUNNER EVAC
When the ground team is out you will need to pick them up. The default beach is narrow and steep so land carefully and make sure the ground team is well clear, they should wait in the water but ideally they should have tripped the checkpoint and swam over to the large beach behind the lab. The gunner can also tag the ground team by aiming at them and pressing a, putting blue dots over their heads, and hopefully avoiding any rotor blade versus face incidents

The default beach is narrow and steep, its safer and easier to just land directly behind the lab on the large flat open beach, you may need to trip the checkpoint but you don't have to land, just get reasonably close
After taking off there will be four more choppers attacking. Hover, let them come to you and put the down with the front gun from range, the miniguns should be considered a weapon of last resort
MASTERMIND TIP
Keep the choppers at range at all cost. When you collect the ground team there is a checkpoint, if you want to use it, so get them in, let the objective change then get out, get well clear and blow the valkyrie to fail the heist, you could also do this at any point. If you get hit 4 times start again
You can exit the valkeryie and take out the buzzards from the ground with homing rockets, but this would be an absolute last resort and is only really even slightly viable with at least one mingun as a last line of defence. You would be much better off practising with the valkyrie

SERIES A FUNDING
An old friend drops by with an offer you can't, and probably shouldn't, refuse
Series A is an easy heist with some great setups, with a little team work and a few tricks, it can be done quickly
Hs Coke
This setup can be very easy or very hard, so go slow, stick together and use shotguns


As the boat team head to the yacht, slowing down at the rear to take out anyone on the back decks or in the engine room, when clear jump aboard, equip a shotgun and start clearing rooms while grabbing parcels

Meanwhile put your highest level player in the back of the chopper on the opposite side to the pilot for maximum protection. Put your best pilot up front, fly to the yacht and make a pass all the way around flying low and slow, going round the boat no more than twice, so the passenger can take out targets. If you are shooting from the back leave your menu open with armour highlighted
Watch out out for police choppers. Try to clear the top deck before landing as approaching them on foot can be deadly

Fly to the front of the yacht and, once its clear, land in between the stairs and the hot tub. This is far easier and quicker than using the helipad. Land with the gunner pointed towards the bridge to cover the pilot. Landing here can also draw a few guards away from narrow corridors and into the open

The other advantage to landing here, aside from the fact its quicker and easier, is that it's far simpler to use the chopper for a safer escape. Chopper team can clear the top two decks then jump over the railing, through the glass and back out to the chopper, while boat team will literally walk right up to the chopper after clearing the bottom two decks
Equip your favourite shotgun then start clearing rooms and collecting parcels. Grenade launcher rounds can be fired through the glass to clear rooms. If you aren't confident with the landing ditch the chopper in the water near the back of the boat, while still in it, then swim up but watch out for police choppers

The yacht layout can be confusing just remember to all the way to the end then up a level, except for the engine room where you turn around
Pay attention to the arrows in the green dots, an upwards arrow means the package is above you, downward below you and no arrow means it on the level you are
When inside hold aim and use free aiming, this will keep your speed down and help drop targets that pop up. Be careful outside watch out for police choppers, especially when taking off
Regroup at the chopper and fly out, or the boats / jet skis, or both, lose the cops in the tunnel off the beach or in the air and you're done
MASTERMIND TIP
Before arriving at the yacht land the chopper on the pier and / or drive to the beach and snipe targets then move in, don't use the helicopter unless you are sure you can land safely, go in and out by sea and use the canal tunnel to lose the cops

 

Hs Trash Trucks
As close to an honest job as you're ever going to get

 

 

This is a very easy setup, avoid fighting and don't get off the truck till it stops!

Set your two highest players as collectors, they will be very exposed so the more armour the better, and the lowest as operators

The trick to this is to park nearer the bags, a lot nearer. The order changes but the strategy remains the same
There are no enemies at the first pick up but reverse down the alley anyway to save time
As the driver you should stay in the van to make any last minute adjustment to make sure the back is open and ready for the collectors, use the right stick to look
As a collector if the back of the truck is closed drop the bag and grab the next
As the passenger you should get out and go where needed, either covering the collectors or the driver
The driver will tell the others when to get off, here are the directions and safer parking spots
Don't fight any more than you have to, get in and get out

Hit the check point and follow the road to the right, turning in at the trees and stopping at the brick wall.

As the spawns are a little slower and the areas in which the truck will open are a lot more forgiving, it's now better to head straight into the alley, pull over a little to the left, stop and grab the bags quickly then head out through the left exit, turning right immediately to break line of sight with the attackers

Hit the checkpoint and take your first right, turning right again into the alley next to the gun shop, park between the two pillars and fine tune to open the back

When you've hit all three stops head to the warehouse, while evading the pursuing enemies. Leave your menus open and try to keep at a good speed but avoid long straights, have at least three players shooting and try to avoid destroying cars, unintentionally at least

 

MASTERMIND TIP

 

In the comments below you will find a video by Jimbatron demonstrating the use of personal vehicles, while this may be overkill, using a kuruma as a "blocker" car for the final trip back to the warehouse can be useful. Simply get clear of the last pick up and summon your pv, have the truck driver put a waypoint on the warehouse before the team get off

 

 

Hs Bikers
Born to be mild


This one can be tricky so stick together and leave your menus open
When you arrive at the lost camp send one man left and one right, move quickly to drop the guards on the outer edge then slow down as you take out the ones in the centre, this is no where near as stealth focused as deliver emp
The gifs below show the routes to take, first the left and then the right. The left hand route is the more important. It's also quite easy to have one man clear all the guards moving, quickly, left to right

After the guards are dead find the vans, they will be parked in between the trailers. Get in two per van, one driving, one shooting and move out
Lost will turn up almost immediately and block the exit, either go around the outside of the camp or ram them. Keep moving, following the line, take out the lost if and when necessary, but try to keep moving, dodge the road blocks and you will be fine
You can go off road but the bikes will follow you and the vans do not do well

 

Hs Weed
Dave's not here man


This one is is easy, and is basically the final in reverse. Mic'd players should use plan b
Set your two lowest level players to the ground team and highest to lookouts, the reason will become clear later. Cover the ground team from range as they move in, take out the guards on the roof and the walkways while the ground team slowly advance to a truck each
Wait at the trucks until the lookouts reach the technical then all get in at the same time to trigger the clock
Instead of following the route up the hill and through the tunnel veer off to the right and drive on the train tracks, see the gif and [url=http://i.imgur.com/wGyLviQ.png]map[/url]
If you see a train pull over and let it pass, if the train hits the trucks it will cause damage but it will not blow them up unless its a head on smash, easily avoided by reversing, sending the technical in first or by listening for trains before starting the clock

Follow the train tracks till they cross the river and meet back up with the route. Head down and follow the route back to the warehouse, with the trucks going flat out and the technical working around them to provide support as and when needed.
Remember once you are close enough cut the corner through the trees, cross over to the oncoming lane and drive under the slip road to the warehouse. If you are unsure where this find it in free roam first
MASTERMIND TIP
Follow the plan as stated but either wait till you see a train pass or send the vehicles through at five second intervals, technical first. If you see a train back up, or stop,get out and get clear and if the trucks are damaged by the train destroy them and start again
10/16 Update

 

MASTERMIND TIP / PLAN B

 

After collecting the vehicles cut across and join the highway to the west, then follow the route shown back to the warehouse, head right past the tractor and slowly down the dirt path, then left on to the highway

This route is longer but allows for a higher average speed as well as reducing, not eliminating, enemy vehicles. There will be a point where the line suggests you break from the route shown, ignore it, as it will take you through the hills and slow you down. You should arrive at the warehouse with a minute to spare at least. If you are still concerned about time the trucks can leave first, get onto the highway, then the get in the technical to start the clock. Enemies won't appear till you reach the tunnel under the army base by which time the technical should have caught up, the enemies can be a problem for truck drivers if they get in front or alongside but a good bump can spin them out. Don't forget you can cut the final corners by heading in under the slip road

Hs Meth
It's quicker than using smurfs


Take the team in a kuruma, or two, and start taking out targets, focus on the ones near the trucks to the rear and around the tanker itself, but try to avoid hitting the tanker or popping tyres on the trucks

When enough targets have been taken out the objective will change and the trucks will unlock, take one and collect the tanker, gently. Head out while the kuruma/s follows to provide cover
Follow the route till you reach the shores of the lake then go off road and follow the shoreline, it will be bumpy but as long as you don't spin out you will be fine. The kuruma should follow to provide support if needed, get back on the road and head to the drop off

Eliminate all the targets before taking the truck and be ready to abandon it if the truck health goes below a third

 

HEIST : SERIES A FUNDING
This is by far the easiest heist


Take cover in your position and fend off the attackers with rifles and your preferred brand of explosive, as long as the north team don't use proxy mines, you can also bring the the technical to bear but this is not really needed.
After a few minutes it will be time to move out, put your highest level player on the gun and put the technical up front while the trucks follow, without overtaking
Move out along the route taking out the choppers and cars till you start to see bushes by the side of the road

(1) Drive between the roads, keeping left, then going down the gully. Keep heading straight till you are on the train tracks. Follow the tracks north till you reach the bridge (2) then switch to the right hand track
Keep on these tracks till your reach the level crossing (3) then go back on the road. Have the technical stop and provide cover at the next corner while the trucks press on to the destination and you're done

THE PACIFIC STANDARD JOB
This is it the big one, with good communication, and a solid plan, its pretty straight forward
Hs Vans
This is the easiest setup its a one man job, two at the most


Put the navigators on a bike, or in a car with big windows, alone, so they can find and photograph the vans, just follow the vans till they stop at red lights, snap the pic and move on
Stay clear of the vans. The last van must be stolen so wait till it becomes the objective and shoot the driver from a bike with a suppressed weapon. Lose the cops and drop the vehicle off

Hs Signal
Do me a favour, don't go chasing waterfalls, alright

 

 

 

This one can be tricky, but easily done with the right strategy, plan b (detailed below) is the better way but only works if you don't have to restart
Reach the island, there are jet skis much nearer the the island under the large bridge. Beach the jet skis on the southern edge of the island, near the tree and climb up
Take out the choppers and attack the targets. This can be a tough fight as the sight lines aren't great so use cover and go slow

Whoever is nearest the hut when the last cop is killed will now have two important jobs, one, driving the boat, and two getting Avi to the drop off so decide who will do this ahead of time
Avi and his rescuer will now be in a boat so put two men in the back and one on a jet ski then head up river to the lake. Take your time, especially around the rapids
You won't be able to lose the cops till you almost reach the eastern shore so just keep going. Lose the cops on the water, stopping to shoot down choppers with rockets if needed then go ashore.
Land on the beach near the small inlet river, almost in line with the drop off point, to find a parked car, drop Avi off and you're done

10/16 Update

 

MASTERMIND TIP / PLAN B

Head to the location shown here and climb the western side of the building, go up the walls, then up the air vents to the helipad on the roof. Climbing the vents can be tricky remember to let go of the left stick to climb up instead of sliding over
Once you clear the island, Avi and his minder should head to the jet ski area, while the others shoot down the choppers then fly to pick up Avi. The helicopter can only carry four so you can leave one or two players on the island, out of sight. Fly the helicopter to near the drop off and start to lose the cops. If other players have followed, you may need to get near them and the drop off to trigger losing cops, but losing the cops in a chopper is not hard

 

Hs Hack
Another easy setup, made hard by those that rush

 

 

 

Set your lowest level player to transporter and head to the alley, or collect the van then head to the alley, it doesn't matter
What does matter is your plan of attack. Put a man on both, or all three, entrances and attack together,. Make sure the roofs are clear before moving forward, slowly.

If you are at the western end start by shooting the sniper

The large, blue, truck trailers at either end are the secret weapons here, a well place gl round will move them into a position to provide excellent cover and better firing positions, experiment to find a way that suits you
Once clear bring the white van in and move out in the black van. You don't need to shoot, or have the attackers follow you, so open your menus, put your foot down and take a right and right again, not a left as the line suggests. This will give you an almost straight shot allowing the van to move fast enough to out run most of the attackers but you can take whatever route you want, try cutting through the red car park or under the mall and off the jump to evade pursuers
MASTERMIND TIP
Kuruma the alley, bring two players in a kuruma with the black van as a blocker car if needed. Get in, put a waypoint on the marker and then get out

 

Hs Convoy
This is a tough setup........... for those without patience. For those with it's very easy!


Take a Kuruma to the bridge and block the southern end, take cover behind the car and wait. There will be a single chopper off in the distance so take it out with a heavy sniper before its anywhere near. If no one has a heavy sniper use a normal one but be ready with a homing launcher

Wait till the truck itself is on the bridge, then open up on the guards in the lead jeep. This will create a bottleneck, often causing the armed insurgent to stop behind the truck greatly reducing its field of fire (even if someone fires too soon) and reducing the amount of guards that can shoot at you. Take out the gunner, clear the guards and move up slowly till all the guards are down, try to avoid damaging any of the vehicles
Leaving the truck on the bridge will also prevent the savages from getting a missile lock, but they shouldn't get anywhere near that close. You can also deploy tear gas as the convoy stops if, for some reason, you are carrying it

Now take the insurgent and position it so the gunner can cover the northern road, sometimes there will be one or two jeeps that approach while dealing with the choppers, send a man to the southern end and have the last man get in, then out of the truck.
This will trigger a single jeep from the south and the helicopters to spawn, take out the jeep and start sniping the choppers, again if you don't have a heavy sniper on your team use the mounted gun (aim for the tail rotor) and homing rockets
Once the choppers have been dealt with put your highest level player on the gun, and a driver in the insurgent, truck and the kuruma. Move out slowly with the insurgent up front, the truck in the middle and the kuruma bringing up the rear.
Have the insurgent drive a short distance ahead of the truck stopping the convoy to take out the jeeps. Moving slowly with the truck slightly behind will cause all the jeeps to attack at one location in pairs (see pic), driving right into the insurgents, devastating, field of fire.
One or two may come from the rear but most from the front
Keep moving up slowly till all the jeeps are gone, then take out the roadblock allowing the truck to move up and head to the drop off

Hs Bikes
One last quick and easy setup before the big one

Drive a kuruma through the front gate and clear the bikers, then grab a bike each and wait at the gate. Move out, going straight then taking the second, not the first right as the line suggests. Leave your menus open and keep moving and you will be fine
There are many routes you can take, try the ramp out the back or off road through the park if you are struggling
MASTERMIND TIP
Minimise risk by taking two or even one bike at a time while the other players provide support from the kuruma, or clear the route first

 

HEIST : THE PACIFIC STANDARD JOB
This is it, the big one so gear up and move out. The more you communicate the better you will do


Inside The Bank
CROWD CONTROL
Shoot in the air to fill the bar and avoid any accidental shootings, when the bar is full stop shooting if you don't it can trigger the swat team, and you don't want that.
As soon the demo man breaches the first gate move one control man behind the counter and cover the staff, watch out for the guards that will come in from the door at the top of the stairs, above the second gate. Keep the bar full till money is collected then head to the front door. You can equip an rpg to intimidate the crowd without shooting

DEMO AND HACKER
Demo will be carrying all the money, this will cut your losses in half immediately and allow three players to fight instead of two. Lower level players are better suited to carrying the money
Breach the first two gates then head to the basement where you will find two guards, take them out, hack the vault then the hacker should head back upstairs and cover the door above the second gate to deal with the guards, stay there until the rest of the team are at the front door
Demo will then breach the final gate and start grabbing the cash. After you have cleaned out the vault head back up to the front door

Outside The Bank
Have the money man stay in the bank while the other three clear the way, open the doors and come out fighting. Grenade launchers are fantastic for this so have at least one equipped if available.
Take out the cops in front of the bank and the two near the alley. When, and only when, its clear have the money move up and as a team move into the alley

10/16 Update

 

The money man can now wait inside or just outside, the bank until the bikes are destroyed and someone deliberately dies to trigger checkpoint, remember just because you're waiting doesn't mean you can't be useful

 

You must trip the checkpoints but you don't have to be very close
From here you face a choice, risk fighting and keep all the cash or run and lose a little.
If you are running head straight into the alley run past the trailer, turn right where it says keep clear and jump the fence under the overhead wires, move forward and jump another wall again head forward to trip the checkpoint then regroup

10/16 Update

Holding the left stick back while climbing will allow you to land feet first and roll, jump off to the right. Take cover and refill armour if needed

 

If you are fighting send two men forward to clear the cops in the alley and have one man cover the rear while the money takes cover behind the concrete barriers or dumpsters. As soon as the front and rear are, at least mostly, clear have the money move up and jump over the grey brick wall, then follow. Trip the last checkpoint and regroup

Have the money wait near the checkpoint while the other three clear the road, when clear jump the low wall and move across together. A cop car will approach from the right, coming down the hill and another from the opposite end of the alley, take them out quickly

Forget the take have all four attacking
The Escape: Bikes
From here on out any money you lose will stay gone, even if you restart. Try not to focus too much on this you can always restart the whole job once you are familiar with the route
The easiest, most consistent method is the bikes (10/16 update, the kuruma method can now be done consistently)
There are other methods listed below, but once you learn the route it's not hard to consistently clear $1.2 mill, don't shoot the cops unless it's absolutely necessary
You are now going for a nice, relaxing, sunday afternoon, ride in the country. Follow the route but slightly off road, if you see a cop, brake, this will cause him to swerve allowing you to drive round him and refill your boost. The boost is a double edged sword so think before you use it
This video is made up from 3 clips of 2 runs, both following the same route, both without losing cash while on the bikes, the final section has no cash loss at all starts around 4:30, the same route was followed each time massively reducing the amount of cops
Follow the route till you see the giant tv and drive under it (1), follow this line over the hill and smash through white fence (2). Avoid the brown posts, head into the field and follow the ditch near the road. Follow the ditch, cross the road at the giant beer mug (3) and head up hill.
This is a great area to stop and regroup.
Head back down through the trees and across the fields till you see the large red barn on your left, then head north. Go as off road as you feel comfortable with, heading north towards the train tracks, slowly head up on to the tracks and head across the river (4).
From here ride up and down the hills till you see the bridge, stopping on the hill opposite to deal with any cops on the bridge, rockets are the safest option, but most of the time it isn't necessary
Get back on the line to cross the bridge, then head left and up just before the flat truck trailer (5). Have the lead rider clear the cops at the tunnel entrance, then head through.

After exiting the tunnel take the first left along the dirt road and cross the small bridge, this will trip the checkpoint. Follow the road round till you see the fort on top of the hill then rejoin the line and head to the jump
Use the timer and leave five seconds between jumps, you should have at least around two minutes left and there's no point risking a horrific / hilarious mid air death now
Glide slowly to the boat. land in the water, get in and stay put to prevent a rather annoying glitch then, slowly, head out to sea
Follow these methods and you might not lose a single dollar!

10/16 Update

 

The Escape: The Kuruma 31/01/17 It's been patched! Get on the bikes

 

Now that this method can be done consistently I'm going to include the definitive way to do it, but I still recommend trying the bikes combined with route first as it doesn't cost you anything and it's very easy

 

Before starting the heist purchase the apartment behind the alley where you left the bikes and store your kuruma in there. Start the heist and carry on as normal, remember not to drive the kuruma to the bank

 

When exiting the bank leave the money man inside (this will no longer fail the heist) and have the other one, two, or three fight / run to the bikes,(12/16 update see tips section for "the scarf trick" which can be useful here)

remember just because you're waiting doesn't mean you can't be useful

 

When approaching the bikes the owner of the apartment should head to the garage door (not the apartment door) and try to get inside. This will only work if you are out of view of the cops. If you can't get in, wait until all the bikes have been destroyed and kill yourself, (obviously not if you are on a cm run) restart and you will find all 4 players at the bikes. You will also have a brief window to get into your apartment

 

Once inside drive out in your kuruma and have another player blow up all the bikes, making sure that they are all destroyed and the objective changes to "head to the canyon" then get all players in the car (which is no longer "locked" within the city)

 

If needed, head back to the bank to collect the money man then drive the route through the alley to the bikes to clear the checkpoints for the money man

 

Instead of driving straight to the boat, follow the line to the canyon, this way you can lose the cops. Remember 4 players in the car will affect handling and you can still lose cash. Try cutting through the camp and over the steps to reduce the risk of falling off

 

Once you reach the final check point drive to it slowly and trigger it, then reverse back and drive under the small bridge and down the mountain (the risk of vehicle explosion has been drastically reduced)

 

Head to the boat and you're done

 

While this may seem like the obvious choice for cm runs, it's a double edged sword. If you aren't completely confident you can get in the apartment first time, every time, without requiring the window that killing yourself and using the checkpoint gives you don't do it. You will leave the team exposed, be forced to quit and restart meaning you will have to fight your way to the bikes again and again, exponentially increasing the risk of death. Using the outfits will also slow you down but not using them will get you killed at the final hurdle, you are still better off getting some practice in on the bikes with the route and having all 4 players fight their way there

 

12/16 Update

 

You don't need to suicide to get in the garage, have the first man run past the destroyed bikes and over the side wall to shake cops, climbing back up and down can help too. Even if you can't get in, get safe and have a second man run through the alley and get an out of area fail to respawn at bikes, again this would be an option of absolute last resort

 

 

The Escape : Jet Skis
From the bikes head directly to the pier, near the pegasus spawn point you will see some jet skis and / or a two man boat. The jet skis are not always there so you may need to ride up and down the beach till they spawn or put a driver and the money sitting in the boat and have the other two stand in, head slowly down the beach till you see another jet ski moored or being ridden by civilians, this will not lose the cops

Finished the first major update, replaced and added new screenshots ad title pics and gifs detailing new methods, including changing the way I do coke the way I do the first series a setup for the better

 

Cleaned up the text and simplified it where possible. Added more tips too

 

I could really do with some feedback,

 

Does the guide load well for you?

 

How does it look on phones and tablets?

 

Is it clear and easy to understand?

 

Has it shown you anything you didn't know? If so what?

Great overall. Just improve some grammar/spelling @ times and you're good.

This is such a great guide.

 

The amount of time and effort you've put into this is outstanding.

 

I'll definitely be using this whenever I actually attempt the challenge!

It really didn't take that long thanks in no small part to xboxdvr.com helping me get the pics and videos quickly, everything apart from the video editing and the title pics was done during heists

Someone posted a vid about the convoy setup which has disappeared for some reason, so repost it if you want but there is no easier method for convoy than the one in the guide already

 

Updated with new title pics, fixed semi broken vids, added new sections to reflect better methods and added a few new pics

Outside The Bank
Have the money stay in the bank while the other three clear the way, open the doors and come out fighting. Grenade launchers are fantastic for this so have at least one equipped if available.
Take out the cops in front of the bank and the two near the alley. When, and only when, its clear have the money move up and as a team move into the alley

a couple of times we had an issue where it fails because somebody (likely the money guy) stays too long in the bank (even when the road is not yet totally cleared from cops).

i'm not sure if this is an occasional bug because sometimes it was also triggered when the money guy has already left the bank.

maybe nobody of the team is allowed to run back into the bank for cover after a certain time.

When we first tried this Trash Truck screwed us over - I came up with an extremely cautious, border-line cowardly way of doing, but it's pretty much fool proof. The timer doesn't start until you reach the first pick up, so you can deposit an Armoured Karuma at each location.

Added the scarf trick to tips, sprint while wearing heavy vests!

Will be hosting cm runs, open to all, no experience, no mic, no problem

I can afirm it, you cannot go inside your apartment and garage when doing the Pac Stan heist finale.

 

In fact, I heard it is also not available in all other heists finales, setups and even contact missions.

 

However, I cannot verify it for last gen consoles as I have upgraded three months ago.

What about getting the helicopter? Has that been patched cos that wouldn't spawn either

Try the route shown, the swat van is literally the worst option. It's a massive increase in risk, for a minor reward. Getting to the bikes increases in difficultly, getting the van creates risk and you have to transfer to and escape in the boat with a wanted level. It's a poor choice start to finish

 

Buy a carbon rs, behaves very similar to a lectro at a fraction of the price, practice the route in free roam

 

Once you learn it, it's easy

Myself & some friends tried your bike route at the weekend as we thought it was probably the best one yet. But the cops were driving off road in front of us and behind to the point where me and a buddy both got knocked off the bikes. Same happened on the second run so we quit and reverted to the Noose truck method.

 

I'm wondering if the cops have been buffed since the Gunrunning update as I've done quite a few different off road routes in the past and never encountered cops going crazy like that before lol. Have you tested it since the update? We're training for CMM so I'd rather not take too many risks but would like to do it on the bikes as I feel like I'm cheating taking the noose truck.
