GTA: Carcer City - converting the MH map to SA!

i kinda prefer CC to be a mix between an abandoned city and a bit modern looking city , just like Gleeni91 said above.

I'll think about the looks a bit more then.

Right now I'm just dealing with the suburban district so expect a bunch of postwar ranch houses and maybe Starkweathers mansion unless it got torn down. Who knows.

What would be cool would be to leave the mansion abandoned, but still there, gated off, with condemned signs, etc. basically giving off a feeling that this is something people don't want to touch with a ten foot pole, knowing what went down there.

I kinda like your idea. It would fit in just fine.

Maybe I can do some nice props and parked CCPD cop cars.

I'm thinking about putting your idea to use :)

That project looks interesting, but I think Vice City would be a better choice to make a total conversion with Carcer City... I don't know, with SA, the dark and gritty feel isn't the same when made. I mean, the GTA LC conversion was a really nice replica of GTA III's atmosphere, I don't have Manhunt so I can't exactly tell how the atmosphere would be, personally I think it would be like Liberty City's one in III (I like the idea of using III's time-cycle). But that's my opinion, and I think it could be interesting to set the game in 2001/2002, maybe after the events of III. :)

Anyway, I hope to see more. :p

The thing is, Manhunt didn't have a timecycle, it was all set during the night for most part, and the scenes weren't dynamic. SO we can only guess, but what we do know is that it was northern, so gta 3's timycyc might be best.

I might ask permission from GTA:SA LC to include the timecyc.dat file and everyone would be happy.

EDIT:

More levels are coming...

Mansion interior level, and the mall. Maybe they should be enter-able.

The levels are split up into 3 parts ofcourse, later on we'll optimize the meshes and the result would improve.

I didn't add that yet. I want to have the levels done first.

I'd still rather redo the train yard with proper SA styled tracks rather than the ugly train track texture, but then again, that's just me.

Also it´ll be cool to redo the train cars from train yard as well, may be even made them usable.

And what about the CC subway, can it be made usable, so a subway train runs there? LC train can be used than. The train is already converted by me.

Sure we'll add it. The subway level is converted now, ready to be tested ingame.

And here's something from me. I've spent last three days trying to create this giant, using original, partially modelled building from Manhunt. So, here it is - complete, remapped, with cleaner mesh and few small improvements.

 

Fun fact: the model uses the same fire stairs I've made for Vice Cry 1.8, but with different textures. Because hey, why would I waste time to make something for the second time?

Maybe he's finishing the levels so we can blend our team progress together in one big and nice map, and start on props.

I think it would be a good idea for you guys to use the cut tunnel maps from III.

They would be fitting as some sort of catacombs.

I suggested using the Ghost Town from III as part of Carcer's commercial district and, if the opportunity comes up to do up missions, there could be one where you act as a getaway driver for a robbery or something to that effect, but DK said no to it. Hopefully he changes his mind on account of many folks seeming to think of that as part of Carcer City.

To prevent these alpha bugs, try to set the alphamaterials as the highest IDs in 3dsmax, should fix many alpha bugs. the "backgroundmaterials" need to have a lower ID. :)

Yeah, I'm adding these towns on my "GTA Underground" mod.

 

As for this mod,

I'd like to keep it with CC.No other towns/cities.

I said they are not being added.

I will add them to GTA Underground but I wont add them to this mod.

You misunderstood me :p

 

If you want to explore CC with surrounding area's, wait untill I release beta 1.0 for Underground.
