Introduction


What is "GTA: Carcer City"?


Well, GTA: Carcer City is a total conversion mod that will replace GTA:SA with the levels of Manhunt 1. Later on we'll connect these levels, and add our own content, CC style.


Later on I'll port the progress we've made here over to GTA:SOL Underground. There wasn't any MH conversion that followed the MH storyline and/or included the original levels.


We figured: Why not make a new conversion? And, just as a side note: This won't slow down my other project's progress in any way, that's why I'm porting it over to Underground ofcourse.



We'll use the SA engine ofcourse :)



The map


We cannot provide anyone with a planned map. Yet. :) But, a detailled map of all levels together might appear soon.

Nice, but how will you cope with helicopters? Will you complete the buildings so they have roofs and stuff?

EDIT: I'll complete the building, yeah. Ofcourse they would. Right now, I'm focussing on converting the MH levels, I've got 5-7 of them done already.

It's going to be amazing, trust me :)

And it'll be included in Underground even, where we have all 3D era maps. Anyways, let's stay on topic here.

I was gonna ask, why don't you do it for GTA III instead? I think it would look better in GTA III and the player is already limited to the ground

Looks nice. It might not be in your plans, but tell me that you'll change the timecyc. It's Carcer, you probably can't see the sun.

Would it be at all possible to replicate III's timecyc in SA? I can't see Carcer in anything other than that timecyc.

Also, suburbs WIP.

I just came to the sudden realization that I could do music and other radio stuff for the mod, seeing as I already got three stations done did up already.

 

That and the suburbs now have space for 150 houses. I dunno if that's a realistic enough size for them or not though, if it should be BIGGER to reflect suburbia or smaller to where not driving from one side to the other becomes a chore. But f*ck it, enough rambling.

EDIT: I've got some ideas about connecting the levels today. Drawing some roads using CC road textures. Making some taller buildings for Carcer City. How about that?

I was thinking of just using GTA CTWs radio stations for it so that they can become relevant once again in the GTA series

CTW radio stations? Nah. Anyways, i've got some plans about connecting the levels and moving them around a bit. I guess i'll come up with a layout plan or something, working ingame ofcourse. First idea: Connect the Church level with the Zoo levels. The suburb area would fit in nicely, wouldn't it?

because, where in the history of Total Conversions would you actually use Chinatown Wars radio stations?

because, where in the history of Total Conversions would you actually use Chinatown Wars radio stations?

 

Again, why be unoriginal and use radio stations from CTW while I can be original and make new stuff?

Thanks to all of you from showing your support :)

I did not expect this much support though, on both of my mods. Someone even PMed me and told him I could use his vehicles in Underground o.O

I am simply blown away :O

 

You guys have motivated me into further modding, things will be great once i've ported some more levels. And connecting them ofcourse.

I'd still rather redo the train yard with proper SA styled tracks rather than the ugly train track texture, but then again, that's just me.
