[Q] How to Gamepad Support Menu's?

Recommended Posts

Orphan Carpet

The question is simple enough, how do i add gamepad support for menus like in the Endeavour Menu. Also on the same note if i find a menu i like that doesn’t have gamepad support is there a way for me to add in gamepad support to it?

Hi Orphan Carpet,

You need to include xinput library:

#include <Xinput.h>

and you can use this keys:

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/microsoft.directx_sdk.reference.xinput_keystroke(v=vs.85).aspx

for sample:

get_key_pressed(VK_PAD_X)

How would i add that to an .asi menu without controller input?

Not that hard to figure out and people probably won't spoonfeed you. Go find the logic where it determines whether the keys for moving the menu are being pressed, and add an additional check for the controller keys you want.

I am well aware of the scripting proccess its all pretty simple stuff i have done plenty of .gsc modding in the past i just do not know how to edit the .asi's. Few years back when i was doing this stuff i just had to open the mod files with notepad but that doesnt seem to work anymore. Is their a program i need to download to edit .asi's? I have googled around and found nothing.

You cannot edit ASI files. You need the source code. They are basically renamed DLL files.
