Not sure I understand what is wrong with white people saying "lit" or "fam". I say "fam" all the time... I don't know what "lit" is short for, unless it's getting drunk or high. Then I use than one too. Sometimes I hang with the fam then go home and get straight lit. I need to, you ken?

Obviously I can't speak to every single possible use of the word, but as slang everyone I knew was using "get lit" to mean "get f*cked up" at least as far back as like 1997. Both as in getting high, and catching a beating.

 

Example: Talk like that would get you lit the f*ck up.

And/or: How about instead of beating this moron's ass for being stupid, we just go get f*cking lit instead.

Props = Objects in general you see in the lots

 

Prop pox is the case when those objects start missing from your city, every simcity 4 player fear this ancient evil. It usually happens when somehow a savefile bloats too much (the subfile that store props reaches 6Mby) and there is an half-assed prop pack in our plugin folder. Once it affects a city tile, the savefile will shrink each time a player save the game because some props are lost in the save process. So after exiting and entering the city, some props (objects like fences, trees and stuff) will be missing from the city, it's useless to try to replop every object that's missing stuff, when you exit and enter the city, the savefile will shrink more and more stuff will be missing from our city. There is little to nothing we can do about to save that poxed city but using a back-up of the city before using that "half-assed" prop pack or whatever other event that caused the prop-pox. It's literally the cancer of Simcity 4.

 

In my case, the game froze while "saving and exiting to region", so I close the game via task manager, then I came back, played on the save for awhile and I noticed that some props were missing and I started to get desperated, when I comfirmed the issue, then I started to throw meteors, to call ovnis and finally using the apocalypse tool to eliminate that savefile.

 

In my case, people from SC4 devotion told that it happened because I f*cked everything up and I ended up corrupting my savefile by exiting the game mid save process, but I'm investigating an particular dependency I suspect that might have aggravated the situation :S

I don't know. I've always thought it was short for "family" too, like how "bro" is short for "brother" from the hippy days.

 

Like I said though, I've never heard it used before a few months ago, I don't know why everyone has suddenly started using it.

 

If I'm not wrong, 'fam' is often and most typically used within some Black American communities, in other words the 'ghetto'.

 

'Ghetto-memes' are usually made on Twitter and what ever seems funny on Twitter is cut out or screenshot'd and posted on Facebook, 9GAG, Memecenter and who the f*ck knows where else?

 

When these memes reach out to more people, they will be aware of the certain word and may or may not start to use them.

 

I'm personally not a fan of using the term 'fam' myself since it's a little too black for me and would only make me look like a wigger. I prefer the terms 'bro' for strangers and males I know only a little, and 'boi' for close friends.
