So, assuming you still would be able to play Singleplayer with mods, when you get banned - what experience would you sacrifice?

1. Playing GTA: Online

2. Playing in Singleplayer with mods

Edited poll: everyone may correct their vote, if he wants to.

GTA:MP and FiveM are looking to allow dedicated online servers outside of GTA:O. I hope they continue to make great progress and give players more options.

After owning/running over a decade's worth of servers spanning multiple games online all the way to BF3 era... I'm done w/ online multi, period. I could not care any less about GTA:O (& their shark cards money grubbing for that matter). Give me SP & SP modding, & I'll be perfectly happy w/o online.

Also: as a retired admin/owner; cheaters suck worse than a stellar mass singularity. The only thing that exceeds cheaters level of suck, is those c*nts coding & releasing exploits in the wild.

Edit: I should note that I ran everything from bone stock game servers, to fully modded maps/weapons/trick jump/low gravity/etc, and even had a couple servers where aimbot on aimbot crime was allowed (only aimbot server, for old school bots & another for anything goes). So yes, it can be separated, if they and serverside admins put in the effort. The most difficult part was keeping humanized botter's off the clean servers, both stock & modded.

I agree with most of these guys. Once FiveM is released, GTA Online can rot for all I care. It was a terrible idea and terribly executed.

Considering i hate gta:o and will never play it anyway this is really no choice. I would never even know the ban was issued! the sole reason i'm rebuying on pc(i played on ps3) is for mods! Once openiv has write access to the archives i will get a disc copy off newegg and go nuts.

I'd take GTA V SP with sjaaks SNT (When it releases) and other mods over GTA:O in its current state any day of the week.

I think people aren't answering the poll right... Instead of picking the one they would sacrifice they are picking the one they prefer :-p

Whoops, I made that mistake too. Fixed, but I'm sure there are plenty of people that mistook the poll for "Which do you prefer?" Given how popular mods are for GTA IV, I don't see how many people could even think of sacrificing mods for online. GTA V's online isn't even that good.

I think you're right. I did exactly the same thing.

This poll is badly worded. You should delete it and make the options more explicit, otherwise the results will mean nothing.

I seriously had to stare at this poll for a minute. It's not even worded that weird, but I think my brain just wants to choose the thing I want more, instead of what to sacrifice. I would sacrifice GTAO easy.

No, it is worded bad. It's like you're asking two different questions at the same time, but the one above the actual choices is just basically saying "pick one".

It's not badly worded, it's just that we are reading it too fast... I voted wrong too, just corrected.

With mods all the way. Won't care if I get banned from online...

They managed to release a great sandbox world with two modes, and capped both. The great features from SP are not in MP, and viceversa...

Well it is either bad or brilliant depending on what the OP wanted to achieve.

  • The thread title sets you up psychologically for a yes / no answer
  • The poll title itself, which is smaller and thus less obvious, phrases the question in a different way.

The thread title has already primed you to pick your preference (positive).

The alternative interpretation to "badly worded", is that it has been brilliantly constructed by a person with an anti-modding agenda, who has an understanding of psychology. Someone in marketing or a lobbyist etc...

If he wanted a true reflection of voters views, it is badly worded.

Online sucks, and is one of the main reasons GTA V is worse than IV.

V with mods over online everyday!

Online to me is the equivalent of World of Warcraft, just completely designed to make you addicted and be rewarding when you put loads of your free time into it. No thanks, modding is my choice.

The question isn't badly worded as the answers represent exactly what it is asking:

What experience would you sacrifice ? GTAO or GTA 5 with mods ? *pick one of them*

It's only your problem that you find the question misleading or as non sense.

I picked GTA 5 with mods, GTAO ftw.

Even if I had to decide between Online and Story mode without mods, I'd still go for the latter.

That's not really the point. Some of us did pick correctly, but how many people picked incorrectly? It's not worded badly because it's worded "incorrectly" it's worded badly, because people are getting confused and choosing something that doesn't represent how they actually feel. It's that simple. So saying "It's only your problem" is missing the point. It's a poll, so it needs to be as accurate as possible or it's everybody's problem who voted. Not a big problem, but still makes this pretty pointless for everybody.

It's an interesting poll, so I would like to know the actual results, if somebody can possibly change the question.

Yes it could have been written in a better sentence, but it's still partly fault of the people who read it wrong.

You...actually think GTAO is better than anything mods could ever provide?

...What is your daily life like? I'm curious now.

From my experience with script mods in GTA 4, where I used 2 script mods and 1 of them is a feature which we officially have in GTA 5 (FPS view) and the other one is SNT, I have no idea if GTA 5 will bring any script mod which will be somehow useful, stable and still interesting to me. I don't mind not having script mods in GTA 5. I have never actively used any car mod in GTA 4, due to problems of car mods crashing mine or others game in MP mode. Map mods are usually adding more gameplay and cosmetic mods, such as texture improvers provide better experience to some players. Considering I'm having a good time in GTAO (unless a group of turds get in an insurgent and kill everyone on sight), it wouldn't hurt me if there were no mods allowed.

...What is your daily life like? I'm curious now.

How is that question relevant ?

Through all this, R* answered us our question, mods are allowed in SP, but it looks like cosmetic mods for GTAO which don't affect gameplay are allowed too.

GTA: Online. Seriously If it wasn't there then I would not have missed it. Look I love realistic and difficult games.

Can all of you remember the Commandos series. You know those games that could crack your skull open from all the thinking. Or the Hitman series doing everything absolute Silent Assassin. The same goes with GTA - GTA5.

When I was young I was just driving around with the very nice beige Mercedes Guldwing in GTA. Yes I was running over people and also shooting but I was also in my fantasy(I WAS YOUNG SO S*UT UP) really enjoying the game.

Then GTA 3 came out and I could see the road. Really perfect. But eventually we came to GTA:SA which was nice but a lot nicer with all the mods. I can remember that there where mods with 50+ savehouses. You could sell drugs, Buy cars basically you decided what and how you did your GTA:SA experience.

Then I heard that they would start over with GTA. Starting with GTA:IV so I was looking forward to the second edition of Vice City but it was not there. Instead we get the most amazing game world in GTA:5. LOS SANTOS.

But I was shocked when I heard that it was online and been in shock for at least 5 minutes until I came to the part of the text that it would also feature SP campaign. Look Online could be perfect if everyone was exactly playing like me. Minding your own damn business and just play the missions or the heists. But seriously missions and heists. So not capturing a damn flag.

Because all those things are not realistic. Never ever did I shoot my way through town to capture a flag. Also soccer hooligans are not even so violent as some of the f*****s out there. But that are humans some like to play the one way the other wants to play different. We could fix that by a simple question list that you have to fill in before you go online:

What would you like to do?

1. Kill every single last person on planet GTA => Goes to server for killers.

2. Rob a bank or two, and go to a titty bar => Goes to server for mission oriented players.

3. Check if Ponsonbys has a new suit already. => Goes to server for none violent(or at least a little)

So you answer that question and Rockstar connect you to the right server.

So what happens with the ass***es

Ow you choose 3 and start killing everyone just because: A, You are stupid and can't read. B, You want to irritate everyone. C, You are not good enough to fight against killers. You get the message in screen:

Sir/Madem We are terribly sorry to conclude that your play style is not appropriate for this server environment we hereby transfer you to the correct server. (BEHIND THE SCREEN THIS PERSON GETS PLACES IN FRONT OF THE FIRST RANDOM MANIAC AND WILL BE IMMEDIATELY KILLED!) HAHA that would show them.

How expensive is real life? Not as expensive as GTA:Online

When you buy a car and you buy 30 inch chrome spinners on it. Do you know how much this costs minimal: 4.000 USD to a max of 15.000 USD.

So you can imagine that I was in total shock when I wanted to put some nice chrome wheels under my Super Diamond. First I felt cheated and angry to see hundreds of rims that are not in SP(REALLY HOW STUPID IS THAT MAKING CONTENT NOT AVAILABLE). Then I saw the price and disconnected internet. First of all I needed to buy a Super Diamond in a game called GRAND THEFT AUTO. Wrong and wrong. Solution in the beginning your character does a race after the race you are introduced by Lamar to the cargod of the carstrippersworld who lives in "Paletto Bay" he tells you that you can steal any car and drive it to him and it will become yours. (So you are lazy you buy and it is in your garage). You are a real GTA player you nick the damn car and drive to paletto bay hopefully doing a beautiful getaway as well.

What did i really do in GTA:Online

Not much I never get to the heists parts. Because you need to be a level 12 or something and own a big house. I have the house and 1 car with original rims I am not paying 78.000 for a chrome wheel. Even if it is ingame money.

My last two solutions for GTA:Online

Make it available for all the players who like it! And make it so that all the others can fully disable it. But still can go online with the SP and MODDING!!!

OR

Make everything doable with only one person(yourself) and make it a damn game. A real full story line that is constantly updated and keeps on going.

I wished they just put all the effort from online into the SP and make the story last for weeks instead of 31 to 78 hours(http://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=4064)

Have one clean installation with all the DRM crap for online.

Have another sandboxed installation with a pirated version for SP mods.

Sigh. I miss the days of Quake and Unreal when you could just load up a mod with a shortcut/command parameter and play with other people with the same mod. Now get off my lawn.

Holy TL;DR Batman!
