MangyKat
Has anyone managed to get high textures with a GTX 960? It seems to be that you can't, even by turning everything else down.
Le Dude
I can set them to Very High on my 550 Ti and still get 60 FPS most of the time. At night I get some stutter. But my GPU is weak, I honestly thought anything better than a 660 can run the game with Very High textures just fine
erik9631
i can get high textures with my 760 and everything else on ultra. If I go higher the game starts to stutter.
durpflip
i can get high textures with my 760 and everything else on ultra. If I go higher the game starts to stutter. i get the same on a 750 ti OC,but instead of stuttering it only lags in the countryside (i.e. blaine county),whereas LS has none. Unimag
It's weird how I'm getting 7/8 FPS more in the countryside with grass set to high. Running 980M's in SLI on laptop coupled with i7-4910MQ and 32GB RAM. This is in 4K with most things set to high or very high. I'm rarely getting less than 50FPS even in busy scenes so quite happy. bensons
Yes I have the 4gb evga 960. It easily does very high textures with other options on high.
PortugueseOwnage
Anyone has a 750ti ? is it true that it performs as good as a 970gtx ? I mean the gtx970 costs nearly 3 times as much but i saw so many videos where the 750ti has better results ?!?
bensons
I use fxaa though. Edited May 4, 2015 by bensons
Goldbringer
I have everything on High grass very high on 1080p. I get 60-80 Fps on my system : I5 4570, GTX 960 only 2 GB though.. and 12 gb Ram im thinking of changing the gpu to an GTX 970. Anyone has a 750ti ? is it true that it performs as good as a 970gtx ? I mean the gtx970 costs nearly 3 times as much but i saw so many videos where the 750ti has better results ?!? Thats not possible. the GTX 770 comes close to the GTX 970 but it simply outperforms it. The GTX 770 is faster than the 960 GTX but its not that much. Edited May 4, 2015 by Goldbringer CrisFormed and bensons

You must be watching some rubbish videos, the 970 is like 3-4 times faster than the 750ti. The 750 ti is more on par with the performance of an old 560 ti. CrisFormed
I run very high texture and grass at 60fps. Not ultra grass, but very high. This is my most stable 60fps settings, they can even be turned up but I like it this way and there's a weird unexplained MSAA on/off trick there that you might like as well: http://gtaforums.com/topic/791650-stable-60fps-1080p-config-weird-quality-trick/ I have 960 and i54590. What is your processor? Have you defragged since install (especially if digital version)? Run Auslogics Disk Defrag on Optimize one time, and then forget you installed it for a while til you have problems again (do not over-defrag, and do not defrag an SSD) If you never had a problem with PS2 GTA and enjoyed IV and V on console, then 30fps is a very viable option for anyone who wants the PC graphics that look different, rather than the 60fps which also makes things different. But for me, I am floating around the PS4 quality (seen in config link) with higher textures in places (consoles are mix of normal/high/very high all in one, biggest wherever possible) but at 60fps. GTX960 users should try my config and also tell me what you can turn up higher so I can try too Edited May 5, 2015 by CrisFormed
smokinjoe
I have a 2gb gtx 770 and am seriously considering getting a 4gb gtx 970... I just want to be able to have all settings (especially textures) on ultra or very high at 1920x1080 and get 60+ fps
CrisFormed
You won't get that even with one 980 though really. You should try my config too please and tell me how those settings run? and then start comparing it with other settings that can go higher, there aren't many that can go higher and they aren't very noticeable except for the grass ground shadows, but I don't miss them tbh. It basically only sacrifices ultra grass, and even a 980 drops a lot of frames for that grass. I think the titan x manages like 65fps in SLI with ultra grass. MajorVienna
Here are the settings I use on my 660 (2GB) if you want to try: Ingame: Dx11 & 1080p, 60hz FXAA – On MSAA – Off TXAA – Off VSYNC – On Texture - Very High Shader - Very High Shadow - High Reflection Quality - Ultra Reflection MSAA – Off Water Quality - Very High Particles Quality - Very High Grass Quality – Ultra Soft Shadows – Softest Post FX – Normal Motion Blur Strength – Off Depth of Field – Off Anisotropic Filtering – x16 Ambient Occlusion – Off Tessellation – Off Advanced: Long Shadows - On High Resolution Shadows - On High Detail Streaming While Flying - Off Extended Distance Scaling - Off Extended Shadows Distance - Off I'm getting 60fps a bit less now (down to about 80% of the time I have to admit) after the recent patches but a few of the non-MB using features could probably be turned off/down. smokinjoe
Recommended specifications:OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1 Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHZ (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHZ (8 CPUs) Memory: 8GB Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD7870 2GB Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible HDD Space: 65GB DVD Drive didnt Rockstar take like an extra 6-12 months for so called 'optimization' ? my system exceeds the recommended specifications... I still think Im going to get a 970 just for the extra 2gb of space to raise the graphics settings... one thing that is very annoying is Im getting screen tearing and a weird 'ripple' effect that goes up the screen, even with vsync on (though I find the game runs better with vsync off) and all the settings on low, this still happens. someone told me to get a g-sync monitor, will this fix the screen tearing / rippling ? erik9631
I think best visual/fps combo you can get is: Set everything to very high / ultra. Keep shadows on medium and and grass on high. Set population variation to 75%. Set shadows to SOFTEST. You get ultra effect without any frame loss even on 2gb gpu. I personally think that shadows look better with medium and softest than very high and softest. In real life shadows are not super sharp, they are a little blurry at the edges and you can not achieve this with very high - high shadows. DentureDynamite
i can get high textures with my 760 and everything else on ultra. If I go higher the game starts to stutter. Pretty much the same here on my superclocked GTX 760; I use the latest GeForce Experience optimization settings, and it vacillates between stuttering and smooth... with no traceable reason(s); though I do wonder sometimes if it isn't just pure lag issues from GTA Online?
