Unable to connect to R* Servers really pissing me off

Bought a PS4 a week ago and updated my copy of GTA5 so I could play online. That was 5 days ago. I transfered my characters so that can't be done again. All sounds good so far, but from the day I first went online I've been getting R* servers currently unavailable and Unable to save; cloud servers currently unavailable. I've followed all instructions of resetting router (was never a problem), and waiting. I even went as far as to reinstalling and no joy.

Now it's one thing waiting a day, but 5?

 

Now that I've got the moan out of the way now to the point of the thread. I need to know firstly is anyone else having this problem and has anyone got around this problem?

 

Please note I've tried to contact R*, but they are a useless bunch more focused on pissing off other players with bans.

Are you using the Resume/Suspension feature? If so that is most likely you're problem.

 

Have you tried doing a hard reset of the console such as turning it off completely not putting it in rest mode?

 

If not turn off your console completely and then turn it back on, Because of port issues the Resume feature can't be used because it locks the ports and when you turn the game back on it won't connect to the game anymore.

 

If this does happen to fix your problem remember in the future to quit the game completely before going into rest mode or you'll have to restart your console everytime

Now to show some ignorance. When you say hard reset, do you mean stopping the game application and turning the machine off and not putting it into rest. If that is what you mean I have it completely off at the minute. I have use the ps function and resumed and used the rest function once when installing the update, but as a rule if i'm not playing I turn off the game and console (although i'm new to the tech so may have done something stupid). In saying all that, surely the only way to shut down a game is to go to the PS4 hub and close application which seems to contradict your line about not going to the rsume/suspension feature?

Thought I'd try something and it worked. I bumped the MTU to 1475 and it's working at the minute. Thank you for your help Trourbadour. I'm marking this as solved for now.

Yes closing the application is quitting the game completely, Sorry if you misunderstood what i was saying and doing a hard reset it Shutting Down your PS4 and turning it back on not putting it into rest mode then back on.
