Freeroam should be freeaim exclusive

I haven't played GTAO in a while, I guess I'm just taking a break from the lack of update and innovation and the fun factor of heists that worse off long ago.

I don't think this should apply to previous gen GTAO since the controls are a little clunkier along with the frame rate.

So I was wondering: Why not make freeroam completely free aim? This would include a R* patch that would attempt to fix both 1st person and 3rd person clunky controls and make aim assist unnoticable, if not completely removed. This would allow a new learning curve for players who only played on assisted aim and bullet firing weapons could then be tweaked and have more importance in terms of stats like damage and accuracy (seriously, the advance rifle is the only weapon with any noticeable difference in accuracy, damage and fire rate since in assisted aim headshots are too easy).

Players can still lock onto players in car IF the player has run over another player fatally once or more, this is to prevent the mayhem of cars being too fast of a moving target for players on foot.

Missions/heists still have the option of free/assisted aim since the core element of removing free aim only applies to freeroam.

Players under level 30 can still join assisted aim sessions but once they reach 31 or over they can play in assisted aim sessions BUT they can't level up stats or level and player/car customization is pretty much non-existent. Not too sure on this one.

I feel in assisted aim it's too easy to engage in a gunfight and win. If all players had to play Free aim FR would become more tame and less like a warzone. This is because it is harder to aim and master Free aim controls and less players will be inclined to attack other players since there is a definitive line between 'good' and 'bad' players in terms of gunplay.

I know it's a rushed idea that hasn't had much thought into it, but I just felt like posting on something that really nags me in GTAO and this is a very rudimentary solution that hopefully gets the ball rolling. Can't wait to hear why you guys have to say.

And here we go again. This is the way I play, everyone should play this way...

Leave people to play the game how they want, it's not your problem

I love free aim! In my eyes, no lock-on should ever take place (except locking onto enemy NPC's).

However, prepare thyself for a sh*t storm of crazy comments :)

Thanks for reading the title! But I posted more down below if you've noticed.

AA would still be available in freeroam, but there would be a much larger incentive to play FA since it requires more skill and longer playtime to master. Gunplay has gone stale and has become completely redundant in showcasing skill in AA, FA exclusive gameplay would entice more players to become competitive in a way that actually takes skill and patience to master rather than holding L2+R2.

GTAO is a game made for and mainly catered to casual players, making it free aim only would be a terrible idea and R* knows that. R* doesn't want very skilled players sh*tting all over casuals nonstop and ruining their experience and making them less likely to play or buy DLC etc. Auto Aim helps keep everyone on a minimum level and makes it a lot more fair for the casuals (the incredibly large majority of the player base)

No.

Play free-aim if you don't like AA rather than forcing your sh*tty interests onto others.

And, it starts.

Implying it already didn't start.

Free-Roam should stay the way it is, with AA players in their own, and FA players in their own.

You are wrong. A lot of "casual" games don't have auto aim (they do have small aim assist but no where near GTA) and yet you don't see anyone complaining in these games. Just bring a REAL aim assist instead on that auto aim garbage.

I still remember when Rockstar said that they changed the aim assist so you don't feel assisted and sh*t.. Whatever happened to that.

I believe it was in an article about an interview with rockstar.

Well, it kind of is my problem when I have such a hard time finding full lobbies in free aim. Yet when I switch to auto aim, I find full lobbies almosy always on my first try. Now my proposal was always something like, why not let ME(on free aim) join other players(with auto aim). This is what it was like in GTA4, and I see nothing wrong with giving us the option. The only players it potentially harms is the player with free aim that opted in to join, but it is completely up to him to do it.

The reason I would be okay with this, is I don't play PvP, and I don't care about playing with people who use auto aim in coop missions.

Currently the only way to play with free aim in auto aim lobbies is to not push down the left trigger down all the way, and that is pretty hard to do consistently IMO.

Great thread! I can't give OP enough cookies and "special massages" for their opinion, which is completely right.

I've played free-aim for ever lol it's still a war zone always. Maybe it's my fault but the only difference I notice between lobbies is free-aim ppl are elitist( I was one of them)While auto-aim people are more willing to have fun and laugh when they die.

*Sidenote The only thing that annoys me in AA besides the AA drivers thing is how ppl brag when they killed me lol Like it's not hard so calm down😂😂

That make perfect sense what you're saying, I get FR would draw a large line between casual and skilled players. But, if all players switch to FR wouldn't that entice casual players to actually become better at the game? The reason so many players don't keep advancing in skill level is because they only assisted aim and aren't being challenged and learning new skills. If FR only in freeroam is introduced there could be challenges and activities R* could introduce to help the lower-tier players get better at gun battles and aiming.

I know that there are also a lot of players that 'muck around' on GTAO and don't really want to engage in gunfights. That's fine; the only aspect of gameplay being changed here is that PvP lockon is for the most part disabled. Just because players will have a harder time aiming doesn't equate to freeroam being a lackluster experience.

I'd say it's a win win. Players who generally avoid other players in FR will now find it easier to escape and players who want to engage in gun battle will now find it more enjoyable to actually aim and think for a second rather than the mundane 'lock-on then fire' strategy.

I'll never understand why people talk about skill and whatnot when it comes to shooting and movement in this game.

Try to play Quake 3 and you'll see what shooting, movement and free aim means.

Anyway, since not everyone is an uber-skilled free aimer with robocop reflexes and precision (that's what free aim means, right?), all you would achieve is that people would just use Insurgents, Rhinos and Lazers even more than they do now. Good luck with that. There was already a thread here that vehicle griefers are hijacking freeaim lobbies.

See I wouldn't mind freeaim, but the majority of players will not learn and adapt. They'd rather just spam RPG's, just like current freeaim.
