When is the meteor prop actuality used?

So as some of you may know there is a meteor prop in the game, but I was just thinking, why is it there in the first place!? when is it used? is there going to be a future event in Los Santos where a meteor comes down from space and destroys the city?

 

But seriously, does anyone know why it is here and what purpose it serves?

Well I know on one of the radio stations one of the presenters says "scientists say the asteroid known as QC7 will be dangerously close to earth next week" so who knows!

I always thought it was just one of the massive rocks located out in the ocean. But I guess they don't move but it does.

I've always thought the dam overlooking Meteor Park (hmmmmmmm) was very.. foreboding?

 

But then they've boxed themselves in by setting it 6 months before SP, meaning any massive map changes would need substantial retconning.

I swear there is a building on Vinewood Blvd that has that meteor on top like a WTF store or something. Also looking at the texture of it maybe it's in the ocean somewhere. The one R* put so much work into so we can never use it lol

The textures would make you assume this is an LOD model, which essentially means that it is only meant to be seen far away. If you see this prop again and the textures are higher resolution after a patch, assume it will get used in gameplay/ cutscenes closer up.

 

For now, yep probably just a TV show prop or something not important, but later down the line, who knows...

I would say it's most likely a left over that's meant to be used in all that alien crap in SP.

Some props are used in some of the shows on TV. I've noticed a few things which are not in game, but show up on there.

You're assuming the prop was meant for Online. Just because it's accessible in Online, though, doesn't mean it wasn't meant for story mode.

You're assuming the prop was meant for Online. Just because it's accessible in Online, though, doesn't mean it wasn't meant for story mode.

 

True dat. If anything it would be story mode related. Maybe future dlc will make all of this clear.

in case the alien's egg , it glows in night which suggest it's not used studios scenery prop . but i have no clue about this meteor , aside it's modder's trick on their sleeves to crush a player with dozen of meteor
