GTA IV Mission Alternatives Thread

For Jeff's second random character encounter where you meet him in a garage with his wife's body in a Blista that you need to dispose of instead of following the GPS route out of the garage which will always lead you infront of a cop car parked outside of the entrance turn left instead and find your own way to the destination to dump the car into the ocean.

It might not always work, but from my experience the majority of the time doing this is a good way of avoiding a wanted level. It's nothing major, but a handy tip nonetheless.:)

Mission: Call & Collect

For: Francis McCreary

It's easy to do this mission with a PCJ 600 or NRG 900. Any bike will do, even a Sanchez if you can get one. It's also a good idea to start this mission at night, basically any time between 2000-0400 is fine. Reason being is there are less pedestrians in the lookout location. The guy with the flash drive is always wearing a yellow and black jumper and will be sitting down or standing near the railing somewhere.

Francis will send you the blackmailer's number but you don't have to call it because he is always wearing the same clothes.

Now go back to your bike and ride down the stairs, smash into the guy a couple of times then jump off your bike and get the storage device. Now you have two stars so get back on your bike and proceed north along the path next to the river. You'll find it easy to get out of the search area then wait for the stars to disappear. Then keep heading north until you see a flight of stairs to your left and head up. Just across the street to the destination where Francis is waiting and mission passed!

In the mission "Snow Storm" for Elizabetta Torres you have to get his coke from the Abadoned Hospital. When you get the package, you get a nice wanted level. Most players just get a car and try to lose the cops but this is not so easy.

I got a better idea! When you come out of the building, shoot down some SWAT guy and run through the fence and jump in the water. There is going to be a boat :) You can easily get out of the cops sight and lose them.

Mission: Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend

For: Packie

Do the mission as per normal, when you get to the part where 3 cars turn up downstairs, just throw a few grenades to dispose of them. If police officers turn up you can dial Kiki or Francis to get rid of them. Pro tip - to finish mission with full health and armor, when you've killed the last two guys, go back to the first ramp where you went up. The armor should have respawned by now as should the other med kits to be found in this mission. You can leave Packie where he is, go get the vehicle and pick him up. He'll climb down the ladder on the side of the complex.

How to Fast Track dating Kiki Jenkins -

Kiki Jenkins is great for eliminating your wanted status. So here's how to get Kiki as Niko's girlfriend as quickly as possible.

1. You must complete Out of The Closet date with Rivas and then complete Blow Your Cover which opens up Algonquin.

2. Nearby PBX safe house is the internet shop so head there, go to the Love-Meet website and go to Kiki's page and press DATE.

3. Do a couple more missions or check back a day or two later. Kiki will have responded with an email for a date.

4. Dress Niko in his basic outfit, usually default clothes or Modo clothes. Don't wear any suits. Vehicle can be anything except exotics. Motorbikes are ok but don't crash. Kiki doesn't like Niko to speed.

5. Dating tips - This is the key to get her to activate the 'special police wanted star level removal' phone call. The dates you go on are Comedy Club-Comedy Club-Cluckn Bell. On the 2nd and 3rd date remember to go 'try your luck'.

Call and collect.

to do this strategy make sure you have a motorcycle.

This strategy is much better if want a quick getaway after you kill the target.

After you've located the blackmailer get onto your bike and ride down to the blackmailer and preform a drive by to kill him and then quickly grab the USB drive, get back onto your bike and peel off. Continue going straight following the park walkway and you'll lose the heat in no time.

Alternatively you can push the blackmailer into the water and then kill him. if you do this option then Niko will call Francis and tell him that he won't be getting that drive because it fell into the river. after the call ends the mission will complete.

Mission tip for Revenge mission - A Dish Served Cold

***Finishing with Full Health & Armor***

As you exit the ship through the mess room, there's med kit on the bench just as you leave onto the open deck, now proceed to the northern end of the ship, where the gang walk is, go past that and climb up a ladder, turn left and climb up again to a platform where the armor is, grab that then exit the ship. Completed mission and full health and armor!

***Pro Tip for getting to bridge on ship fast***

After meeting with Jimmy Pegorino, go and grab the helicopter next to the Booth Tunnel if you haven't already got it. Then fly to the Platypus ship. The cutscene will begin of the mission coming up. Then you'll see the heli is landed so all you have to do is fly in close to the bridge then make Niko dive out and land on the ship, hopefully up near the bridge. Forget the heli it will crash somewhere. You will lose a bit of health but that's ok. You've just avoided a big gun battle fight and saved a lot of time.

I don't know if this has been mentioned on this thread yet, in the mission Off route if you want to avoid a shootout with the police you can steal a police car and drive it into the parking lot and the cops won't get suspicious of you. Park as close as you can to the prison bus because as soon as you exit the cop car the police will open fire at you.

I always stand outside at the first corner, then as the bus comes towards me, bang. It's always weird how the driver is dead yet walks out the bus.

It's an Animation Bug that's the cause of that.

Wow, the IV community are out of action for 2 hours.

shut up

Guys , you can kill Jeff's wife after taking a pic in the first encounter , and you dont fail the mission

640px-Jeff_Shirley_muere_1.png

The other 2 encounters will never happen

So if you want to never see him again after the first encounter , do this .

Its an alternative .

What happens if you kill that "friend"? Oh and btw during his 3rd random encounter, get your SMG and shoot the moron in the Turismo as fast as possible. If he's shot, he should slow down considerably, if he runs Jeff over it won't hurt him. They should be frozen in one place. To end the mission, kill the guy in the Turismo or Jeff, up to you, but I usually kill that Brit, I liked Jeff.

Why would you like Jeff? I never did.

The Brit is a bit of a prick though, I mean he calls an ambulance, but drives right off!

WTF DUDE

HIT AND RUN IS WORSE

DONT

Not an ambulance, the cops. Dafuq? "Helluh, is this the poleece?" I liked him cuz that guy was a wreck from his childhood, it wasn't his fault his parents divorced. I know that feel myself. And he seemed to like Niko too, in a friend-type way of course.

Someone should create a thread like this for GTA V. Oh wait....... :p

"Mission Failed: You Went Out Of Bounds". :p

It would be nice if i could go through ONE GTA:IV thread without a bunch of GTA:IV fanboys looking for reasons to hate GTA:V. -_- Seriously, this is getting rediculous...

Mission: Undress To Kill

For: Dwayne

I found this was the easiest method.

Head to the strip club, ensure that you have full health and armor, although not really necessary for armor, just have at least 50%. Remember to park your car or motorcycle to block the rear service door. Head up the alleyway and enter the club. Get the first two guys standing near the railing to reveal the manager's position in the office. Walk down to the back left to reveal Javier talking to a stripper. Then head back to the manager's room and beat him up.

Exit the manager's room and start heading outside. Choose your favorite weapon of mass destruction (mine is the uzi) and fire off a couple of shots. The bouncer will come for you so shoot him and the bouncer outside.

Now the last two managers will be trying to escape so quickly run down the alley to the right of the entrance, spin around and wait for the managers. If you are fast, they will be running straight into you. Alternatively, throw a grenade at their car as they get in.

Mission: Out Of Commission

Finale mission thread to kill Jimmy Pegorino

Here's a couple of tips that you might find useful to conserve your armor if you find you are having a tough time. At the part where Niko is left hunkered down behind the vehicle at the old casino, turn around and run back then head left around the brick wall. Head up the stairs and you'll see a staircase on the side of the casino. Go up and head left again. Peer around the corner and you'll see the goons that were shooting at you from the roof. Once you've killed those guys you'll have a good spot to snipe everything down below, stay back from the edge a bit and throw grenades and go to town on them. You'll find right up on the roof of the casino there are some holes which you can use to shoot enemies inside but be careful Niko doesn't fall in!

The next part to save being shot to shreds is when Jimmy escapes up to the roof, shoot the two goons on the roof the quickly slide down the ladder then run straight to the water and jump in. Swim alongside the edge till you get to the jetty where the Sanchez is. This way you avoid all those goons firing at you and you save losing a lot of armor.

You know, this is a really amazing thread.

I was never aware of most of the options posted, neither did i ever do it a different way than explained.

I was playing through IV i think 8 times now, 4 times to 100%, the rest was story only.

I really think about re-playing the game again and trying to do most missions differently plus using the special abilities on friends.

Deconstruction for Beginners: Easy Fun Way

Snipe the guys on the cranes, then take Playboy's Patriot or the Cavalcade and drive up onto the construction site drive by killing everyone, sniping the first union guy from above, then literally drive by shooting everyone else.

Super fast and super fun LMFAO.

Uhmm, a few things I like to do. In the mission Pest Control where Niko is tasked with killing Ray Boccino, I like to use one of Packie's car bombs to eliminate him. After Niko is given the assignment, phone Packie, get the car bomb and drive to Ray's location but BEFORE pulling into the marker place the bomb on the rear car. Follow Ray like normal and when he stops for gas blow him and his goons to kingdom come by phoning it it. Fun method.

In Deconstruction for Beginners, after you snipe the lookouts you can actually snipe many of the guys on the actual platform before making your way over there.

In Bull in a China Shop, Niko doesn't actually have to use the brick indicated on the radar to smash the window. Niko can smash it with a bat or his fist. I've not tried shooting it but I'm sure that would work as well. Small but neat fact.

In Easy as Can Be Niko is tasked with stealing an Oracle for Brucie that belonged to Lyle Rivas. When Niko gets in the car, a gang will ambush Niko. The best method for dealing with this is to just get out of the car and kill them. It's much easier than trying to outrun them. There'll be two guys behind Niko, a car to the right, and another car waiting for Niko at the "exit" of the alley which if you're following the GPS will be straight ahead.

For The Puerto Rican Connection, I like to follow the train to it's destination and when it stops drive over to the subway exit tunnel where you'll see a brown car parked (I forget what the make/model is but it's always brown and parked in the same location). That is the bad guys' ride. Simply duck behind the car and pick them off as they exit the tunnel. Very strategic way and not messy.

In Holland Nights, it's entirely possible to snipe Clarence from across the street if you know which one he is thus avoiding a huge firefight, but you obviously would forfeit the optional life or death segment. You will only get a brief second before he runs away though so make it count.

In Smackdown, after you chase Bucky Sligo back to his house you can duck behind a little brick wall on the other side of the street, directly across from the house and call the cops. The cops will kill most of them and it's fun to watch but you'll need to pick up the pieces.

In Blood Brothers, just call Francis while on the roof and he will offer Niko more money to kill Derrick. Just a tip. (no pun)

In Dining Out, destroying Kim's vehicle before entering the restaurant is recommended as it eliminates his escape.

In A Dish Served Cold, after you've picked off the few guys not on the ship, climb the tower, grab the sniper or use the one you have and go to work. It definitely beats storming onto the boat guns blazing.

It's a shame there isn't enough of a run up to do it so Niko launches himself out of the car head first into the window.:p
