Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 I work for a bank and used to work these holidays as well as boxing day / new years day but I do not work these now as I changed roles where the department is closed on these days. marmoo Posted May 4, 2015 Share Posted May 4, 2015 You do get paid but it is employer decision if they pay you extra money (such as time and a half or double time) - It is usually governed by your contract of employment and if Bank Holidays are seen as a normal working day(which is common within tourism and retail), then in most instances you will not receive extra monies, you will just receive normal pay sebcreed and Niko Montana 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Ah, unless you're in the railway construction industry then you work every bank holiday, including Christmas Day. Sundays almost feel like the week has died, bank holiday Mondays don't change that. They also have that dead feeling. I don't work bank holiday Mondays, but I wouldn't care if I had to.
