Why is there no workout function for GTA:O ?

Hey Grand Theft Auto community !

I'm sure this inquiry is pretty frequent, but I still have to ask, why isn't there a workout function for GTA Online ?

I'm quite unsatisfied with the character creator to begin with, but the worst thing is that all GTA characters ressemble eachother through bodystructure and morphology.

The benefits or a work-out function, or atleast the presence of the ability to modify the avatar's bodystructure, would be significant.

First of all it would fit right in the selection of sports activities to perform (tennis, yoga, cycling et cetera). Since these activites are quite decently returned in the game, I could imagine it would be the same case for weight training. It would add up to the already existent fun-to-play activites in the game and increase the immersion for the player, so that we could expect a bit more out of it than in the original GTA San Andreas. We even have a faithful recreation of muscle beach on Santa Monica, with NPCs around this equipement, why not use it ?

Secondly, considering that characteristics such as stamina and strength have consequences on body state, performance and shape, and that these are part of the avatar statistic system we would have found a nice way to underline and allude to this system via external traits. We could introduce these functions during the character creation, and also at later points in the game when the character is able to perform these activites.

And finally, it would just look ten times better to have characters which can differ in height, muscularity and weight. Especially the male characters are all stuck with the morphology of a 12 year old, and you can't do anything about it. I also heard someone commenting "Doesn't matter how they look dude. They're still going to have broad shoulders and run like they have a corn cob up their ass." over female characters. It would definitely be interesting to have the ability to ressemble Franklin's or other NPC's bodystructure, it would also create new ways for the character to dress and affect the clothing; different outfits differ from char to char.

An example of a game that does it right is Saints Row (even if slightly over the top) or APB : Reloaded. The game itself is okay, inferior to GTA V in most ways due to it's age, but it is definitely superior on it's character creation and some parts of the customization. It delivers a couple of hundred options in facial features and morphology (already 14 different options for the eyebrows or lips only, to give you an idea).

FYI, APB strongly ressembles GTA in matters of gameplay and mechanics, it's an open world mission-based PVP, just so you know that that level of creation is not only characteristic and genuine to a game such the SIMs. I honestly think that the characters in APB are very nice to look at considering the graphics are outdated by now, in GTA:O they can look weird in some cases, considering the graphics are outdated by now, this is really where I have to emphasize on GTA's flaws ; the character customization. I'm not a big fan of APB:R, but I have to say that the char customization is pretty decent.

So what are your thoughts on character customization, and especially morphology ? Do you wish that Rockstar would make improvements on that end ? Would you appreciate activites like work-out ? Did you appreciate them in the classic San Andreas ? What else would you suggest ?

Please share your thoughts on that subject,

Greetings,

Alex. :)

I'm going to assume there is no workout function in your real life

Because you have other activities that are more fun to get your stats up, as for gaining or losing mass, go back to San Andreas everyone else has moved on.

I've already made threads like this, either a Mod or mod wannabe will tell you to post this in the wishlist thread.

The addition of one feature won't miraculously turn the game into SA Reloaded.

Let's hope not .. Where can I find your suggestion threads ? :)

Well, there's still .. tennis. Seriously, what is this traumatism with San Andreas ?

You would be more credible if the only pictures from sporting activites taken from your profile weren't virtual.

there no workout function in gtao because there is no code that allow our characters body to change, get fat, skinny, lean, muscles etc etc etc

our character have a generic body, that way R* dont have to spend time creating clothes for different body shapes or testing stuff like "how would a fat character look like while riding a faggio"

or have issues with a fat characters body clippin with the small interior of a super.

I remember an interview a while back where they said they didn't add this feature to GTAV because they couldn't get it to work right

Euphoria uses actual physics in it's engine so you react realistically when walking or falling. San Andreas was just predone animations so for example a fall from 20 feet was identical to a fall from 100 feet, V though every little things effects how you fall; speed, objects bumped into ect. It just must've completely messed everything up when they tried to implement variable weight.

That's your personal opinion but tell that to the 1,000 upon 1,000 of people that still play it daily.

It's already too tedious for me to be pressured to go to the gym once a week. Why would I want that in my videogames?

One thousand out of twenty million people who bought the game isn't really that much.

I said 1,000 upon 1,000, meaning more then 1,000. And I don't know the correct amount. Desides lets say (15 years from now) only 1,000 people are playing gta5, and something better comes along. Does that mean this game was sh*t and overrated becasue people said it was?

I know some people who would probably answer yes to that.

I know some people who would probably answer yes to that.Okay and they're entitled to their own opinion. I don't think SA was overrated and Rockstar should have implemented a lot of things from it. Not because I can't move one from SA nor should I because it would have added more fun to this game. Edited by Chloroform

Because allowing things like our height and weight to change would require changing hit boxes to match the character model. Meaning 95% of players would make the shortest thinnest character possible to get a big advantage in gunfights, thus rendering the ability to change height and weight totally useless.

Maybe they could balance it by making it harder for you to see over the dashboard in cars? Or make you buy clothes in the kids section?

Not to mention that high heels make the character taller and thus, create a bigger target to shoot. I think it could be implemented, but then all the animations would have to be motion-capped again and that would cost R* too much money for too little a reward.

R* are still a business, and their main goal is to make money.

Well I never really thought about the issues and expenses that these different character models could create, for devs and players. I always thought if older games could pull it off at a similar scale, it would be possible for GTA, but then there's the different engine. As for the hitbox, the changes would be minimal or even negligeable, not everyone is into the shooting aspect, and most of the peeps use auto-aim on controllers or spray & pray with their mouse anyway. If the game in question would be Counter Strike, the matter would be a whole lot of different.

I don't think that adapting these character models to tasks and animations would be that big of a problem, since they did it for NPCs. I'm only talking slight model changes, it would be equally awful to see everyone running around as a bodyuilder. I agree however, individual models for online chars could be a difficulty, and that's maybe because they left it out.

And seriously, what's the matter with all these angry teenagers which post hate below a thread ? If you have problems with your schwang go see a doc and don't blow off steam on internet forums.
