the only reason 1st person is in GTA is for COD players to pick up the game, its a money gimmick to sell more copies of GTA.

Considering the implementation of first person view required hundreds of new models, and thousands of new animations (as per an interview i read with Rockstar), i'd say it's more than just a "gimmick". Something that takes hundreds or even thousands of man hours to implement on a new generation of consoles is not something i would lightly call a marketing gimmick to flog more copies of the game.

It's far from a gimmick. Rockstar just needs to polish first person a little more.

It is a gimmick to boost sales, they know COD sells well, you have no advantage what so ever when in 1st person,in fact you are more vulnerable to being killed.I would never use it thats for sure but what do i know, ive only killed a small city's population of players

Rockstar essentially retooled the entire gameplay to make 1st person doable not feel tacked-on. It is not a gimmick, you're just refusing to understand the reasoning.

I bought GTA 5 again for next gen solely because of first person... and I haven't used it as much as I thought I would.

Though, I have no regrets because this time around I am getting more out of the experience than I did the first go around with my character. All in all, I switch between the two. I usually use first person when I am cruising in free mode and I also tend to break out PVP in first person as well. It really just depends what's working for me at the time. I'm in third person the majority of the time though.

I enjoy first person for gunfights but they really need an option to be in third person while taking cover but immediately switches to first person when you aim or shoot from behind cover.

First person is good and fun yes but I always prefer third person because there is a lot of to see at my character moves and physics of the cars I am driving with...

WTF are you talking about insider view?Only person talking that is you lol.Common sense is they like money so they put a feature in the game to draw in COD crowds simple. How complicated is it for you to figure that out.

I don't think you know what common sense is. Call of duty isn't the only game that has first person. What your crying about is your opinion, not common sense.

GTA and COD are two different types of games. You seem like you're having a tough time understanding that.

The first person reminds me of Skyrim way more than COD.

After a decade plus of playing GTA from 3rd person, it's a bit weird to goto 1st.

I don't decry the option, but it's jarring to try and make that switch.. I've been trying SP missions in FPS and it's exhausting.

I suspect that future versions will have better 1st person modes, and it's definatly better than the "hood view" or whatever they call it.

To give first person on foot a fair chance, change your settings.

Dead Zone: 0

Aim/Look Around Acceleration: 100

This reduces the "clunky" feeling by making your movement more responsive to the control sticks.

Then use the Aim/Look Around Sensitivity setting to adjust to your comfort.

Turn off depth of field effects and motion blur as these things occur naturally when you watch images in motion.

Then you can decide if you want to be in third person while in cover and/or when falling.

Also turning off head bobbing can help if you don't like the extra motion.

Ooh I've seen those settings on the forum before, but I would always forget and never bothered too look back but maybe I will to see thanks.

IMO Battlefield 3's FP is the smoothest and easiest to use--i.e. best balance of any game I've played, and one of the biggest reasons I still play it. Where GTA V beats it is in freedom of movement within your environment, such as ladders and fire escapes on buildings, can climb onto almost any reachable rooftop, object, etc.--love that!

While ARMA 3 is easily the most verbose (every possible movement known to man), its movement is even more clunky and awkward than GTA V.

Summary: FP for on-foot, shooting, and back/forth in my Buzzard, as well as on motorcycles and in boats--haven't tried it in planes yet. I prefer TP for driving and occasionally in my Buzzard for easier landings.

I really do appreciate the fact that R* added FP as an option--just being able to switch on-the-fly is very helpful and adds a lot to the game!

One of these days, open world games will have 100% access to everything (no fake doors/windows you can't go through), plus it will use realistic, real-time damage to everything, i.e. no scripted explosions like BF3 to buildings or objects. Everything that happens will have 100% real-world damage effects.

I must admit when I first heard about the first person mode I thought it little more than a gimmick, but after doing all the heists in fp I am a big fan, not enough to make me play that way permanently, but enough that I use it quite a bit

I also switch to fp when on a mounted gun or in the back of a van

What are the best settings for first person then?

I fancy playing the game in a different view just to freshen it up a bit.

Crying?Nah not this guy, maybe you are crying but not me lol,im just calling it as i see it.Tough time understanding lmao too funny.Clearly i can tell the difference noob lol. Also correct me if im wrong but pretty sure there are no guns in Skyrim lol,and COD has sold way more copies then Skyrim as well. You might feel like its more like Skyrim but that you're opinion. It also has nothing to do with what specific 1st person game it feels like, rather the mere fact it is 1st person is what im getting at,never before has any gta been full 1st person, clearly they were trying to cash in on the success of other franchise's,but i guess you have a tough time understanding that lol.

I will have to check and get back to you on that for exact details but pretty much the same as tp I still use lock on but often move while aiming to use free aim

To each his own but i just wish :r*: would remove the camera lock so i'm not forced to do a mission in FPV

BEST FIRST PERSON SETTINGS

First Person on Foot Field of View: 100

- Most players will prefer to see as much of the game in frame as possible. This means more awareness and less toggling of your direction to see things.

Aim / Look Dead Zone: 0

- This means that there is no "dead zone" between the control sticks resting upright and when pushing it causes movement on screen. Any movement of the control sticks will cause a reaction on screen.

Aim / Look Acceleration: 100

- This means that as soon as you move the control sticks, the aim is moving at full acceleration, instead of gradually speeding up.

Those last two settings reduce the "clunky" feeling.

Then use the Aiming and Look-Around Sensitivity setting to make any adjustments to match your preferred speed.

Other settings to consider are In-Game Depth of Field Effects and Motion Blur Strength.

Personally I turn these off to reduce any lag and clunkiness they can cause.

Don't forget you can have it automatically switch to 3rd person for driving, being in cover, falling, and/or combat rolling if you want.

1St person is really cool with a 55 inch 3d tv. Its really immersive

The game itself isn't stereoscopic but most 3d tv's have a feature to convert things into 3d.

That being said I do that in single player and to just screw around. Anything competative it's gotta be 3rd person all the way

Ever notice when you switch from 3rd to 1st your character turns and sways, and sometimes taps his/her foot? I thought a buddy found a new way to dance but he was just switching views and skipped the one he wanted, so I found a mirror & made a video showing how funny / odd it looks imo...

First person has certain gameplay advantages, for example I find myself using first person when escaping the bank during the pacific standard heist. Running, gunning and throwing a quick grenade with swipe up on the touch pad. But I mostly use 3rd person.
