So with the xbox one and the PS4 being out for a while now, which would you say you use more and/or which do you think is better first person or third person? :)

Third Person because first person gets me killed (I'm not experienced with first person because I don't play COD or any of those games)

Actually, first person driving is ok.

If the first person controls weren't as clunky feeling it would be freaking great!

But unfortunately it isn't. It's pure garbage. However, first person has so much potential to be better. Plus, exploring is a blast in FPV - the details that you can miss if you are only in 3rd person view.

To give first person on foot a fair chance, change your settings.

Dead Zone: 0

Aim/Look Around Acceleration: 100

This reduces the "clunky" feeling by making your movement more responsive to the control sticks.

Then use the Aim/Look Around Sensitivity setting to adjust to your comfort.

Turn off depth of field effects and motion blur as these things occur naturally when you watch images in motion.

Then you can decide if you want to be in third person while in cover and/or when falling.

Also turning off head bobbing can help if you don't like the extra motion.

FPV is sh*t. This isn't CoD.

Third person all the way. You're not at a disadvantage either. I only play one FPV game and that's Fallout

To be honest, whenever I watch first person gameplay, it's always confusing when you fall.

It's like shaking your head fast while focusing at something without blinking your eyes. I'd still use 3rd person if I ever upgrade the game.

That's why you set first person ragdoll to off. It automatically switches to third person when you fall until you are standing again. Edited by Eggobites90

The point of First Person mode isn't to make the game like call of duty...just to make the game more immersive.

First-person is so clunky, and the Animations are nothing like third-person, and i would actually use it alot more if it had the motion of Call of Duty. And you walk like an idiot in first-person.

Mr. Scratch

The COD comparison is utter bollocks, it's more like Far Cry if anything.

Since I got ps4 I play first person only. I change to third person while driving a lot of the time though. I enjoy it, I feel like I have an easier time controlling my character.

I havent played new gen/pc version yet but from what I've seen they made fps movement kinda arcadey, it looks like these fps games. It allows fp players to strafe much faster than tp players which is unfair IMO. Shame they botched the controls just to ingratiate with fps fans.

I switch it around pretty frequently but I tend to stick to FPV when I'm driving or flying (particularly foe armed aircraft) and TPV on foot. Like a lot of the others have said, I feel the on-foot FPV controls are a bit clunky.

I'd use it more often if walking didn't feel like jogging and the scopes / sights on weapons worked. I use it when driving, flying & skydiving. It does have some advantages and looks really good sometimes, overall i'm happy it was added since I never used the hood view in any GTA before.

yup. I absolutely hate the walking around in tiny circles thing the character seems to do in third person. I can walk ledges with confidence in first person. I can't stand 3rd person now.

Driving has to be 3rd person though. You can't see f*ck all with te steering wheel and dashboard taking up 50% of the screen in 1st person.

They should add a camera hieght setting for 1st person driving the same way theres a camera hieght setting for 3rd person driving.

They could also make first person like you aren't sitting diagonal from back right to upper left on you seat! Lol i never see that much of the side window in real life.

They don't? They seem fine to me when I click the zoom button (right thumbstick on X1; R3? on PS4).

Most people won't mess with the settings (they wont know they can have third person while in cover to reduce getting hit for instance) they won't get the best fpv experience. I use both equally but in freeroam 3rd person exclusively because fpv users are at a disadvantage.

I'm glad they added it, I hate every other fpv game. This gave me a new appreciation for the mode.

Third person is definitely easier for both vehicle control and on foot, but first person looks amazing.

I would never play a free perspective PvP job in first person against players in third person but if the host wants to lock it to first person, I'm up for the challenge.

Doing heists in first person is definitely one of the funnest experiences I've had but its 100x easier to do in third person and that's my preferred view.

I feel like I'm more in control of myself when I'm in 3rd person view. 1st person is nice but I hardly use it and I think 3rd person view is overall better.

SALO or The 120 Days Of Sodom

I only play Third person games. I switch to first person occasionally (same as in Fallout games). In GTAV I only switch to first person in tight places.. mainly the Ground Team in Humane Labs Heist.

Today I played a TDM in full with First person view.. Just trying out 2 things (actually, 3 things) I hate. TDM, First Person mode (I switched the controls to standard FPS.. it's kinda awkward using different controls, but first person view is awkward in itself.), and for the whole match I used the Musket. I have found that weapon to be more accurate in first person view(assisted aim, of course.. can't be missing shots). It was pretty fun. I suck at killing people anyway so I think I'll be playing that way for a while. Its nice to kill people with 1 (mostly lucky) shots.

I love first person but i simply do not use it while in a vehicle (as a driver or passenger) because you're at a SEVERE disadvantage.

When in first person you're confined to an aiming "box" (for lack of better word). It's extremely noticible in larger vehicles like trucks where you can only aim as low as the windshield goes. If someone is standing in front of the vehicle it's impossible to shoot them. Same goes for aiming behind and around you. You can only aim as low as the side window allows you. In third person you can pretty much aim as low as the ground right in front/to the side of you, but in first person you can only aim parallel to the hood/window of the car.

tl;dr first person is fun but you're at a physical disadvantage due to a restricted aim box.

It always halfway worked. I don't know why they did it like this but when you zoom in on third person mode and stop aiming, you have to keep doing it again. It doesn't remember that you zoomed like in first person mode.

the only reason 1st person is in GTA is for COD players to pick up the game, its a money gimmick to sell more copies of GTA.
