IMO it's good with the Modify/Sell mechanics, but there should be WAY more Sport/Super cars on the street.

The only cars appearing now on the streets are:

Bullet

9F

Banshee

Coquette

as you can see clothing,cars and mods are their top money makers. now if cars were free and storeable that profit would be slashed by half. r* isnt stupid they knew people like having the fancy cars so thats why they have a price on it. you can save up or buy a car using a cash card. Also didnt r* said the reason we have cash cards is to fund the online if not they would of had to charge for each update thus separating the players who had paid for content then the ones who didn't.

I thought that was so obvious that it didn't require discussion? Without trying to sound like an arsehole, it's hard sometimes on this forum to distinguish between people complaining about things and people pointing things out because they don't think it's as obvious as it really is.

All jokes aside the only way you would be able to store high end vehicles you found on the street was if the cost to apply tracker and insurance was just as much as the set price on the website, entirely defeating the purpose. Why? So that casual gamers who want expensive automobiles will see the price tag and say "f*ck it, I can't invest x amount of hours into this, I'm buying a cash card". Any discount from finding a vehicle on the street would encourage people to search for the car rather than paying for a card, losing them money. It's also why they won't allow you to store or modify high end vehicles even if you don't insure them, they don't want you to be able to customise them until you've invested all that money.

 

As for the logic of "Well we could steal all vehicles in previous GTA games" well, previous GTA vehicles were also uninsured, once they're gone they're gone. Do you want that to be the rule here as well? The only good argument I've heard is that some street high end vehicles have really cool paintjobs, fair enough, I've seen them myself. Still, it wouldn't be too hard to take a screenshot and do your best to copy it, I'm sure there's even a list in the games coding of all possible colour and variants a car can spawn in so you could find out that way.

4 pages late but here's my take on this.

 

Since the beginning of GTAO I've considered the whole concept to be pointless, unifitting and genuinely stupid, like it's been said earlier in the thead the game is called Grand THEFT Auto. The game by itself contradicts it's own name and point, we can't steal and keep a car just because it's worth too much, sicne when was this ever an issue in previous GTA's.

 

There are multiple ways that this could be reintroduced.

 

Make it so that stealing a car worth $100,000 or more requires more than just the skills of your average LSC employee, to remove the tracker you could take it to another mod garage that specializes in rewiring messy engines that have been set up differently, this place could also be the place that (hopefully) in the near future we might be taking cop cars to get modified.

 

Introduce a new system that for high end cars to be successfully stolen and garaged you have to pay the mechanic a reasonable amountto remove the tracker and, like I said above rewire the whole engine. This would cost around 50k and would take about 2 in game days. This ensures that you can't just steal one immediately and the long wait time would be a lot longer than waiting for a purchased car to arrive. Different cars would take a longer amount of time, supers would take 3 days instead of 2.

 

A said previously. Take the stolen car to Simeon at his garage in the docks so his guys can work on it and remove the tracker and anything else that may be need to be taken care of. Personally I don't want this version, Simeon's a cheap douche that looks for any excuse to overcharge you for anything, however I can't say I wouldn't try to overcharge wannabe gangster white kids (Jimmy).

The reason is cash cards.. And nothing more.

Nothing wrong with cash cards; those are optional. And you dont even get anything unobtainable that other players who didnt/dont use cash cards could get. Only cash. And since the heists, you have of a less reason to blame it on cash cards.

 

Yes... they are optional. But at the end of the day, no matter how you spin in. The reason as to why we can't steal and store higher priced vehicles is simply due to cash cards.

 

 

People seem to think that just because someone mentions cash cards being a reason.. Its due to them being a broke and not playing the game. Or that they are complaining. But the truth is, its the truth.

 

Now, i've played this game for so long. I own 60 pvs, and everything i want. I blow money on nothing half the time. But im not the cash card target.

 

Its the casual players, who play 4-20 hours a WEEK that are main cash card buyers. Not the hardcore players or the grinders or cheaters.

The Infernus, Voltic, Comet, Rapid GT, Feltzer, and Surano are all not uncommon. In fact,mexcept for the DLC cars, Khamelian, and Elegy, ALL of the Sport-class cars are seen. Some, like the Buffalo, Fusilade, and Futo are quite common.

 

As long as we're unable to steal them to keep, all of the Super cars may as well spawn more commonly as well. However, if it were to become possible to keep them after stealing them, I think the high-value cars should become even more rare. There are times when I'll see dozens of Infernuses within a small period of time. Realistically, it shouldn't be like that. However, the other cars that are rarely or never seen--Entity, Zentorno, Turismo, etc.--should start to appear from time to time. Rarely, and never more than one per session per game day, if even that.

First of all, this is a very immature argument.

 

More importantly, "more likes" depends on how you look at the numbers.

 

EvilFiend has received 567 likes in 1855 posts.

G o d has received 301 likes in 1035 posts.

 

EvilFiend has obviously received more total likes, but look at the numbers a bit more closely to get some REAL meaning from them: Both of you have, on average, received 0.3 likes PER POST.

 

Sorry, EvilFiend, but you aren't really liked any better than G o d is.

 

(Full disclosure: if you go out to more decimal places, EvilFiend does get a very slight advantage: 0.31 to 0.29. A VERY small difference. Besides, if you do the math, I've got both of you beat: 0.33 so !)

You should be fortunate we have cash cards otherwise you'd have to commit to a subscription or paid DLC.

 

I don't mind it for this reason. If it weren't for Cash Cards there is no way in hell I'd own all the cars, bikes, jets or weapons as in many other games.

...but if you can modify any car and put anything in your garage then for realism, the police should be able to track you down and do a raid of your garage.

 

...Then you have to stay away from that garage/apartment for up to 1 game month. If you go back, you can get arrested, go to court, and be sentenced to jail.

 

...Your crew can break you out of jail or you can serve your term there playing mini-games for six game months.

 

...If your crew fails to break you out, they also end up in jail.

 

Fair?

 

Edit: Maybe an option where you can pay up to $1 million dollars for a good lawyer to try to get you off. $1 million gives you the best lawyer and a 95% chance of getting off. $10,000 gives you a Better Call Saul type lawyer with a 5% chance of getting off. Or one of your crew mates can represent you for free.

Problem with this idea and most the others is your are talking about a company that can't fix the broken crew paint system. Implementing something like you propose would take them a solid year coding and they just wouldn't go for it.

There used to be a glitch back in the old days where you could store high end cars off the street. I got a free Feltzer and Banshee like that (they're gone now though, don't worry).

 

That felt like real Grand Theft Auto...
