[spoilers] So this is how the V Singleplayer storyline feels like, thi

I waited for this game without watching the campaing or even playing it for almost 3 years since the announcement. I've recently beaten GTA V on PC and.... I don't believe I was pumped for almost 3 years for this game. I mean, the game is good with some improvements and downgrades, but the singleplayer portion of GTA V sucks and sucks so hard that the story mode from V should be rebooted to something that makes more sense. The online portion of this game is good, but as a singleplayer guy, it is unaceptable for me a game that has an half-assed SP portion to justify the so much focused and "spotlightened" multiplayer BF4 COD. It's unbearable GTA Online being more funny than GTA V SP, it's like those generic shooter games that features an half-assed singleplayer mode to justify the so shinny multiplayer mode, which was the focus of GTA V.

Let me put the Singleplayer story mode in short here from what I understood:

Franklin is a black guy "mah nee" style who used to steal cars for "Jailson Mendes", owner of a car dealership. Michael is a retired man, but not just a retired man, he represents what would be a retired GTA protagonist. Franklin breaks through Michael's house to steal his son's car, until here is everything fine.

But the inconsistences starts here, Michael was doing whathever the f*ck covered by sheets on the backseat inside Jimmy's car and he surprises Franklin, then he beats "Jailson Mendes", go back to his house, take a drink while his family is almost killing themselves and Franklin appears aside him. Yes, the guy who broke through his house and almost got killed by Michael just entered his house to talk with him and know what? They were acting like they were pals... Franklin risk his life 2 times for an unknown man who almost killed him and made him lose his "job". After those 2 events, Michael sees a potential in Franklin and he becomes his "mentor" to become a "GTA protagonist".

Seriously, Michael, Trevor and maybe Packie should be the Protagonists from this game. Franklin is in GTA V only to put a GTA SA feel in this game, it looks like he was put in the storyline quick at the laaaaaaaaaaate stage of the game development, this is the only way to justify a main character in this game that's less developed than Trevor.

After the Madrazo's mansion incident, we end up knowing Lester, a smart guy with 200 IQ who can solve everyone's problem by planning a super complex heist within 8 seconds. We also meet Trevor, a typical psychopath GTA player, he kills Johnny at its very first cutscene and appearance and he behaves like a whinny kid that lacks attention. Trevor hates bullies, but he's the worst bully from the GTA series (ding ding ding, another inconsistence here).

Then the rest of the plot (75%) is about being a FBI/some mob slave and watching some popular GTA IV characters making a quick-to-useless appearances before getting killed in a stupidly bad written and nonsense way.

Seriously, why every damn IV character had to die on their very first appearances, everyone from The Lost we known got murdered in a bad written way, Rocco at his second appearance, UL Paper (the worst written death from V), Packie (if you take him to the camp)??? The only IV character who survived from the V incident was Michelle, she made a quick appearance in V, but survived unlike the others who got brutally murdered by Sam Houser.

The ending C (possibly the official ending because you know...) is pretty lame, you basically shoot an horde of enemies and Michael goes after Stretch for... (ding ding ding, another inconsistence) and the other 2 kills every POWERFUL FBI and mob enemy you made through Singleplayer like there would have no consequences after killing them and they also dies like normal NPCs, no boss fights, no special events, no nothing. The last one dies when you bump a car from the ladder with the last powerful enemy inside it, BOOM!!!! Take here your 35 minutes of final credits that is as interesting as the SP campaign by itself, no difference! After the credits, you start playing a GTA protagonist retirement simulator with all the Yoga, Tennis and cloth ironing boredom, the situation is worse if you decides to take the most logical ending available in the game, so you'll end with no criminal activities available.

I'm not up to pass through this mess of SP campaign again only to see the false, but the more suitable ending from the choices available (althrough the most suitable ending would be killing Franklin, I would do it in a heartbeat). Who knows me knows the fact I HATE multiplayer based games, but I found myself putting the SP aside at the middle of the storymode to give GTA Online a try, which I had more fun playing it for 3 following days even alone before backing to the SP campaign which has no depth.

If someone at R* offices is reading this thread, please put more writting and sense on SP DLC because V inconsistences is even worse than SA inconsistences.

I don't want to sound like a IV fanatic (ugh!), even more considering the fact that GTA SA is my favorite GTA, but the flaws on GTA V storyline has the same level as the flaws on Devil May Cry 2 in comparison to Devil May Cry 1.

TL;DR - The singleplayer campaign wasn't worthy the wait, it's full of flaws and inconsistences, the HD era storyline was ruined by the rush of delivering GTA V within its deadlines, but the online was worthy the wait and that's what disappointed me regarding GTA V.

We also meet Trevor, a typical psychopath GTA player that is hated for the adults and loved by the kids, he kills Johnny at its very first cutscene and appearance and he behaves like a kid.

I don't know what the f*ck Michael was doing in the backseat. Maybe he knew something was wrong when Jimmy told him where he bought the car. I don't care.

Why Franklin came to Michaels house? That's what the told him. He said that maybe they'll have a couple drinks together and he'll explain to him how the world really works.

Lester has been in this game for a long, long time and has nothing better to do all day. Most of his plans aren't all that complicated. I could've thought of that and I never robbed a bank in my life.

Trevor is actually a well written character if you were able to think past the point of "well, psychopath." He had a difficult childhood, his daddy was not nice to him. When he became an airforce pilot, his dream job, it got taken away from him. Then, there's his mother. Used to be a prostitute. Got locked up in rehab or prison or some sh*t. Everyone from The Lost got murdered in a bad written way? There was like 3 characters from The Lost that you actually knew by name. Johnny got f*cked because of his meth addiction. He became weak. And so, Trevor f*cked him. Rocco? Rocco got what he f*cking deserved. You don't know how much I enjoyed killing that prick. UL Paper? Yeah, that was just bad.

Every Powerful FIB enemy? Did you play the mission? The only FIB guy you clip is Steve Haines. Why no consequences? They almost had him at his balls. He was being investigated and was corrupt. Stretch has no consequences because he's just a hood rat. Cheng is in a Chinese mafia/drug cartel. Also, both Stretch and Cheng were kept away from known associates, so they'd have no idea who to go after anyways. Devin Weston? Who's supposed to come after you for that? Don Percival even thanked you for getting rid of him.

So, yeah, a lot of inconsistencies were misunderstandings on your part. V isn't the best written story to ever exist, but you can't say it's half assed. The main storyline alone gives you ~24 hours worth of fun content. Not to mention all the side missions, like Strangers and Freaks, collectibles and just f*cking around.

Michael was probably sleeping in the car because his wife thought the couch was too good for him. And yes he was sleeping with a gun, is that weird for a GTA protagonist?

How he didn't shoot the big black dude that showed up uninvited to his house after he put a gun to his head and got him fired for stealing his car is anyone's guess.

Franklin seems to be a pretty unique black character. Not only does the guy he robbed not kill him, but also trusts him with his wife's car and $1000. He's also the only one of the protagonists that can't die, let alone die first.

In Ending C they do what they could have done at any point in the story, but didn't because they thought "hey let's try being slaves for the FBI and this rich douchebag, maybe it will be fun?".

I like how hard Franklin and Rockstar try to convince us that Ending C is "suicide" and that ending A or B would've been a better choice even though that shootout at the factory isn't nearly the most difficult one in the game. The assassinations either.
