Im sorry, i just cant play in this massive lag field. my bullets dont do sh*t against enemies when the host has godawful connection and it seems like i get shot through solid 1ft thick walls and barriers when this happens.

Please, for the love of god, get rid of that wireless router of yours or get a better provider. Because it is not me that is lagging, it is you. and it is ruining the game for me and others.

Lag isn't always the user's fault in my experience. There have been occasions where entire lobbies lagged so it's possibly a server problem to a certain degree.

Bad conn doesn't help but even super conn won't save you from all the weird connectivity I related crap this game offers. Lag? Try the infinite cop glitch, now that's something...

Some people probably cant afford a better internet plan or their in a bad area, if not it is the server or its your internet.

I have a pretty fast hard wired internet, I still get some lag here and there , but mostly it good. don't take much or lag to get hit and killed close to a wall or through a wall or whatever . when I move in and start to aim on someone , I might be blocks away , or get picked off blocks away. does a zoomable sniper rifle unlock in the game?i only rank 6.

If you lack the common sense to do that without being told, sure.

Get better internet or stop playing Online. It's that simple. Don't mess up the game for the rest of us 'cause you're too cheap to hire a proper ISP.

This.

My connection isn't the greatest but that's not going to make a hell of a lot of difference when I'm playing with someone from Western Europe.

You simply can't get better internet and expect less lag on a game like this, like what o0eVe0o said you are playing with different people from all over the world, getting better internet is not going fix it. It's called global latency.

Those that state "improve your connection",please provide some actual facts and figures. You know, some info to back up your claims. So if one doubles or triples the internet speed used then all their problems with lag is fixed when playing gtao? So if everyone playing gtao had 50mb connections it would be lag free and smooth as butter? R* servers or what ever their set up is not a major part of the quality of online performance?

The only time I have issues with me connection is when the weather is bad. When I was on the PS3 I got a message from someone saying to get better Internet or f*ck off. Turned on my mic and asked the other 4 players to join me and this dude. I simply ask "who is lagging?" and they all replied with the guys name who was mocking me for having a bad connection when it turns out it was him all along.

OK just for the sake of it let's pretend that all the network issues in gtao are caused by people's connection and not the crappy online code and crappy servers.

Let's also pretend that people with "bad" internet will take your advice and stop playing online...

The result would be less people playing.

How is that an improvement?

I mostly experience lag when sitting in the passenger seat and it gets really nasty. I don't get it. So, in turn it's forced me to take the wheel. Oh well!

Yes and those different people need to get better internet. That wouldn't eliminate lag completely but it would reduce it. Hence why racing with my next-door neighbor and his free wireless internet usually results in him spazing all over the track and sending me flying into a wall, whereas playing with my Swedish friend and his premium optic-fiber results in slightly de-synchronized animations but nothing more.

And I would love to have fiber-optic myself but that's just not going to happen around here for years (4+ last time I checked the network map).

Besides, most of the problem is the huge amount of routing that has to occur to connect people on opposite sides of the planet and your personal internet connection isn't going to have a huge impact on that.

Having a wired connection does help but not by much,(I still use wired over wireless).

Lagging in gta online really has nothing to do with peoples connections its most likely rockstar servers , i have 200mb fibre optic broadband an still people will lag all over the screen in some lobbies , i blame the servers as they often crash as well

The reason why you see a lot of laggy players is not to do with your internet connection or even the others, it's to do with GTA:O's awful way of matchmaking, and their servers. It's pretty common for myself to experience some lagging, and I'm sure it's the same for everyone else.

GTA:O tries to match up as much people as possible onto a single server, but doesn't take the location of the players into account. Thanks to this, I've been matched up with players from the other side of the world, from Brazil to China. Because of this, depending on what server you are connecting to there are people that keep their connection with the server butter smooth (about <50ms ping), to people who are basically just jumping around and teleporting everywhere (about >200ms ping).

I'm not sure if this links in with the unreliablity of GTA:O servers as well (half of the time when I try to connect to GTA:O I get some kind of error), but I wonuldn't be suprised if it did. R* need to provide us a server browser to connect to servers relevant to our regions, or at least sort out the matchmaking so it puts people of the same region into the same server.

Just for the record, if you think I have a crap connection, you're wrong:

lol at you blaming everyone else for lag. rockstar's servers are awful.

give us dedicated servers so I can join a room full of Australians instead of joining Russian and Brazilian hosts that I can't reg on.

kind regards,

every single gta online player.
