Hello.

First of all I would like to say thank you very much for creating this tool and the hard work put into it:)

But I have a problem using it as the new values do not appear when loading the savegame.

I'm on pc and I have the problem that my savegame has a bug because my letter scraps do not appear. After some research on the internet I found out that this can happen sometimes and the only way to solve it is to start a new game.

So I thought I will give this savegame editor a try. I tried different thing.

1. Checked all scrape letter parts --> The mission "A starlet in vinewood" does not appear.

2. Checked Complete "A starlet in vinewood" --> Also does not work.

3. Used last mission completed "A starlet in vinewood" --> Does also not work.

4. Checked all letter scraps but left the second one unchecked. Moved to the right location and no letter was there.

So I did some other changes but it seems that the changes do not appear when I load the game. Do I miss something?

I did everything like in the youtube tutorial. I'm using the latest version of the game (as from today) but via steam.

Do I have to deactivate the cloud sync? Also tried to delete all savegames and only copied the modified into the folder.

Sorry but I have no idea what to try next. Maybe someone can help me.

Thanks

Walter

Hi I just downloaded this today and extracted my ps4 save from save wizard through save pusher. when I load the file in Save Editor it gives me the error: unable to parse save.

Is there a fix to this?

EDIT: only some game saves give this error

Your auto-update does not work. Never worked.
Earlier it helped, when deleted, and then downloaded from installed.
And now it does not help. Even after uploaded and installed, requires a download update.
Vicious circle.
Can a separate link to the installer "GTA Save Editor" new version?

For some reason some users have this issue. I'm looking into this issue but it's currently unknown when it will be fixed.

Current Solution: Download New Update at http://x3t-infinity.com/Downloads

This must have taken a massive amount of work! Thank you, XB36Hazard. Much appreciated.

I've also run into the issue that the updater fails, and it seems the installer only downloads an older version (2.4.2.4, while the newest one now is 2.4.3.1), so reinstalling it from the link doesn't really solve the problem either.

What worked for me instead to get the newest version:

  1. Accept the update and let it fail (as DrawsBlueCat described above).
  2. Open File Explorer (Win-X, E).
  3. Type %LOCALAPPDATA% in the address field.
  4. Locate the file GTA Save Editor.exe and copy it to clipboard (Ctrl-C).
  5. Open %ProgramFiles%\GTA Save Editor.
  6. Paste the file replacing the older one (Ctrl-V).
Or faster, if you prefer:

  1. Open Administrator's Command Prompt (Win-X, A).
  2. Type: copy /y "%LOCALAPPDATA%\GTA Save Editor.exe" "%ProgramFiles%\GTA Save Editor"
  3. Press Enter.

It has and still is, thanks for the reply. I forgot to update the server file for "XB36Hazards Installer", this has been fixed. As for the error, it seems that the error occurs if "GTA Save Editor" process cannot be killed by the "Install Finalizer" which in return doesn't allow the "Install Finalizer" to replace the current editor with the updated one. I'm still trying to find a workaround for users that have this issue.

Can anyone try running the auto updater and delete the current editor (GTA Save Editor.exe) file before clicking "Yes" to run "XB36Hazards Installer" as administrator? I want to see if the same error occurs.

I actually tried running Procmon on it, switching back to the 2.4.2.4 version of the executable I still had lying around and letting it update itself to 2.4.3.1. Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you've made some changes in between already), this time the update worked just fine without problems.

I went through the logged events but there's nothing abnormal to report whatsoever, sorry. Really wanted to help.

An unrelated question if I may: what does it take for a mission to register as completed in the Social Club checklist? I missed the Simeon Yetarian event but replayed it afterwards from an earlier saved game and tried to transfer the record: I marked it as Completed in Missions → 100% Checklist → RE - Simeon Yetarian and also edited the Runtime Defined Location X and Y there to values from the earlier saved game yet it still shows as incomplete in the Social Club. What other change(s) does it take for it to register there?

Hi,

Is this in response to my post? Because my question is about the Story Mode, nothing to do with Online. Or if you're answering one of the earlier posts can you please use the Quote button to avoid confusion? Thanks.

I'm not actually 100% sure how. I didn't put any time into finding out how to because it was server side.

Thank you for your answer.

Could you please consider an option to dump all the variables from a savegame file in a plain-text format? This way two saved games could be compared by running WinMerge (or just diff) on them.

TL;DR: I saved the game just before and just after the Yetarian event, compared the two, and found some other places where they differ:

Missions → 100% Checklist → RE - Simeon Yetarian → Completed: ✓

Missions → 100% Checklist → RE - Simeon Yetarian → Runtime Defined Location X: 3,262,410,752.00

Missions → 100% Checklist → RE - Simeon Yetarian → Runtime Defined Location Y: 3,297,339,136.00

Missions → Mission Data Editor (★) → Flags → 7: ✓ [Not directly but seems somehow related]

Missions → Mission Data Editor (★) → Completed → 31: 1

Missions → Mission Data Editor (★) → Times: 31 -> -1984696714 [Just a timestamp, probably could be anything]

I didn't spot the latter three earlier. However, this is still not enough to make the mission register as completed. Must be something else then.

Extracting the binary blocks: PMAP, PSCH, PSIG stay the same, CHKS (checksum) is obviously different; all the interesting stuff is in PSIN but there are too many differences between the two versions for binary analysis.

Separately, I also tried replacing PSIG, which I understand to be some globally unique signature but that doesn't do the trick either, so it's most likely not a server-side thing: it seems the Social Club will take almost any data it is fed; and if it's really malformed it will just zero out all of the statistics so it'd be readily apparent what happened.

Also, if there's any documentation for the PSIN format please let me know, so far I haven't found any. Other suggestions welcome as well.

Dumping all variables to a text file would take forever to implement. Finding away to ensure missions are unlocked would most likely take less time. Have you spent any time looking at the scrips? Could look at the scrips and see what it updates when a missions is completed. When I find some time I will take a look. As far as I know there is no public documentation for PSIN file.

I was originally thinking along the same lines and found this for starters:

<mission>	<id>800202</id>	<name>RE - Simeon Yetarian</name>	<description>Franklin is attacked at the car showroom by Simeon's thugs.</description>	<scriptName>re_yetarian.sc</scriptName>	<issues> </issues>	<storyDescription>Franklin returns to the car showroom after crashing Jimmy's car through the window. Simeon spots him and calls for two thugs to chase and attack Franklin.</storyDescription>	<missionId>RE9</missionId>	<played>false</played>	<adminToPlay>true</adminToPlay>	<percentageComplete>70</percentageComplete>	<designerInitials>IG</designerInitials>	<projectedAttempts>1.0</projectedAttempts>	<projectedAttemptsMin>0.0</projectedAttemptsMin>	<projectedAttemptsMax>0.0</projectedAttemptsMax>	<variantNumber>0</variantNumber>	<inactive>false</inactive>	<singleplayer>true</singleplayer>	<checkpoints/></mission>

It's in common.rpf:data/missions.xml from the Xbox360 version someone posted here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BwtG7xVTF5dpd1VYZzdockx2aU0

The PC equivalent seems to be in one of the YMT files OpenIV can't handle. I was looking for the details of this mission by its ID or other keywords (re_yetarian.sc, the script name) but I'm not familiar with the RPF archive structure, so couldn't locate it by just browsing around the (common|x64[a-w])\.rpf files. I tried searching on the Internet but did not find anything I didn't already know there either (I'm sure it must have been described by someone somewhere but if I can't locate it within 15 minutes then I can spend time figuring it own on my own instead).

The way to go on with this approach would be then to unpack everything so that I can use filename search and grep my way through all the garbage (as OpenIV apparently offers neither) but I did not follow up on this for the time being as I wanted to try something more intelligent/targeted first and also for practical reasons (can't do this on the SSD due to disk space constraints and on an HDD it'd be even slower, which put me off even more).

Instead, I thought, I'd be able to figure out what I missed by simply comparing the two PSIN blocks from the saved games just before and right after the event, make the remaining changes in a hex editor, and then glue the file back (thanks to your GTA Save Editor being able to recalculate the checksum - much appreciated!) but there are too many differences between the two files for someone who has no knowledge of the PSIN format such as myself.

Can you tell me, in the PSIN block is all the mission data within some particular offsets (and what these would be) or is it scattered all around, making things not that simple? The particular files are uploaded here if you can/are willing to to take a look: http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=74196743941006361293

If comparing the saves really is the dead end it seems to be, I'll go back to the RPFs as you suggest.

Thank you for uploading your saves. GTA V saves are dynamic, so giving you specific offsets off of one of my save would most likely not help. Surprisingly the offsets between your two save didn't change for the most part. Random Event data is in the same place in both saves. The Random Event data is at 0x24F40 in the PSIN. Hope this helps.

hi hazard, i am trying to change the "the merryweather heist - freighter" mission to gold medal but it does not work, so i decided o complete it with a replay but it does not change to franklin when i rech the first destination marker, and when i load another save game and replay it from there - it does work, and i noticed that when i load the character wheel in the mission it shows all three characters in the other game save, but when i do it in my save game, it only shows trevor and three black people shades. please help me! and what i think is that the characters dont exist in my game save's replay, but do exist in the other game save's replay.

also, when i choose which way i want to complete the heist ( i always choose "freighter") it shows a picture of a big woman that it does not show in the other game save.

here is a screenshot of it: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1228862229
