BigJoe_1
Except for me just coming back and reading the world most realistic and true story on the last page I've got an actual question for you guys. Do any of yous think Rocket Bunny and Liberty Walk kits are functional? A couple of days ago I was having a conversation with a friend, that later turned into an argument. It was all because I said Rocket Bunny kits are stup idand are just like any other show car kit, they're not good for the track and are really nothing more than molds of plastic that add weight and create extra drag due to the way they're shaped. He replied by saying that they're really nice and that they really help with aerodynamics on the track. Now I'm not saying that they're completely useless, I know that a lot of drifters see them as being beneficial due to the wide arcs allowing bigger tires to be fitted. However except for that they offer no benefit at all. I'm not a master engineer/physicist but I am taking an engineering course at uni (mechanical engineering to be specific) so I do know a lot of stuff when it comes to physics, engines and such. Despite that, he still doesn't believe me when I literally provide facts to him that are backed up by the laws of physics (so they literally can't be wrong), he's not the smartest guy but he's like me when it comes to cars, so he's quite knowledgeable when it comes to knowing how all the car components link and work together, I'm starting to believe that he thinks that just because the arcs are riveted that they must be functional. Also on a purely one sided point, do any of yous like the look of them? Personally I don't, I think they look tacky and stupid to be honest, the wide arcs/flares just look like the beginner stages of an actual body kit plan, they're just 'there' and most of them have that empty space between them and the skirts. Sorry about the paragraphs but I wanted yous to get the full context.
sivispacem
It depends on their use. If they're just used as over-fenders they serve no purpose. If you cut the metalwork back and use them to run wider wheels, they can do. There are several competitors in various Time Attack series running Rocket Bunny derived kits. Most of them are just for show though. if you're referring to the cut-out behind the front wheel arch, that serves an aerodynamic purpose. I think it's gone something to do with reducing drag; you see the same on stuff like DTM cars and JGTC cars, though in the case of the former certainly they try and channel airflow rather than just letting it dissipate. *MURDOC* 1 AMD Ryzen 5900X (4.65GHz All-Core PBO2) | Gigabye X570S Pro | 32GB G-Skill Trident Z RGB 3600MHz CL16 EK-Quantum Reflection D5 | XSPC D5 PWM | TechN/Heatkiller Blocks | HardwareLabs GTS & GTX 360 Radiators Corsair AX750 | Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL | EVGA GeForce RTX2080 XC @2055MHz | Sabrant Rocket Plus 1TB Sabrant Rocket 2TB | Samsung 970 Evo 1TB | 2x ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q | Q Acoustics 2010i | Sabaj A4

I guess you could say that, while they're certainly not the most aerodynamic kits available they're certainly useful for running larger wheels and tires. I never really understood the way the cut out is supposed to function (I should to be honest with you ). When you think aero and air flow you think of an air tunnel and picture the air flowing through the empty spaces within the kit, but the cut out is behind the tire which is blocking the passage. They can't be reducing drag by that much (from my understanding), the tire is preventing the air from being channeled through. On a more preferential topic do you like the way the kits look? sivispacem
They can't be reducing drag by that much (from my understanding), the tire is preventing the air from being channeled through.Did a bit of looking into this- it's to reduce the area of high pressure air that typically sits above the front wheels due to air being effectively trapped in the arches by a combination of the wheel's rotational forces and ducting from the front to supply cool air to the brakes. The net effect is an increase in downforce (well, more accurately a decrease in lift) without any of the typical drag penalties associated with it. It's common in all forms of closed-wheel competitive racing. Here's an eighties 962 with the same modification: BigJoe_1, *MURDOC* and epoxi 3 AMD Ryzen 5900X (4.65GHz All-Core PBO2) | Gigabye X570S Pro | 32GB G-Skill Trident Z RGB 3600MHz CL16 EK-Quantum Reflection D5 | XSPC D5 PWM | TechN/Heatkiller Blocks | HardwareLabs GTS & GTX 360 Radiators Corsair AX750 | Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic XL | EVGA GeForce RTX2080 XC @2055MHz | Sabrant Rocket Plus 1TB Sabrant Rocket 2TB | Samsung 970 Evo 1TB | 2x ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q | Q Acoustics 2010i | Sabaj A4

It's common in all forms of closed-wheel competitive racing. Here's an eighties 962 with the same modification: I never looked at it that way. Now that I think about it, it actually seems about right. With the way the wheels would be rotating (counter clockwise) air would be getting trapped between them and the arch due to the air following a path relative to the motion of the wheel and, like you said, the air being channeled to the brakes from the front. I've noticed it on a lot of cars like the Viper GTS-R and the C7.R but I never quite thought about it enough to question why it was there, now I know . On a more one sided topic. What do you think of the kits in terms of looks? I never really liked how repetitive they are, the wheel arches look the same on most of the cars they build kits for. I also don't like the how obnoxious they look, it looks as if they're trying too hard and as such they're too over the top. Some of the kits, like the ones for the RX-7 and the S13, just look so ricey to me. Maybe all these photos of FR-S's with sh*ttons of camber and square lip spoilers are just getting to me but personally I'd prefer a simple NISMO kit on an S15 or a Trial kit on a Supra. sivispacem
I think the RB86 overfenders are pretty nice as far as overfenders go. I don't particularly like the rest of the kit, nor most of the component parts of the other RB kits. Some are okay, some are gash. K1FFLOM
This really happened to me when I still had my 2000 Honda Insight. The little, mega-economical, 2-seater hybrid... I was standing next to my car at the local petrol-station, filling-up. Minding my own businnes until this woman from the pump next to me gave a glance at the Insight when she said: " Nice car you have there. That is the new electric car from Honda, isn't it ? " I looked at her and then at the petrol-pump stuck into the side of my car and thought to myself "How blonde can you get ?" whilst looking pleased and nodding my head. Sneakerhead.
Read this and it reminds me of the wannabes that occasionally slip into the Post a pic of your car topic: It was a hot summer day and I was in my workout room benching 1200 pounds. My abs were flexing and girls within a 10 mile radius were getting wet. Once I was done with my daily 32 hour workout I called one of the bitches I know, Jessica. She is really damn hot and looks like a supermodel. SO I got into my Lamborghini Gallardo and reved it up to 40,000 RPM (this is an Italian import with special engine system). I got onto the freeway near my house and threw it into 8th gear, I hit about 600 mph and I could hear the sonic boom as I broke the sound barrier. As I was flooring it on the freeway like a badass, Jessica called me and said she wanted me to **** her. So be it. I came to a full stop from 700 mph in front of her house. These Ferraris have top notch brakes, you know. So she gets out of the house and walks up to my Bugatti and starts eyeballing my dick. I could tell she was staring at it because when I looked at her I noticed she was looking at my dick. Booya. Flash forward 10 minutes later. My 30 inch dick is going inside of her VAGINA, hitting them walls. I'm holding her entire body up with my left pinky as I'm ****ing her and she has 30,000 orgasms. She looks me in the eyes and she says "harder." V-TEC just kicked in, yo. I blow my load so hard she falls off my dick. There had to have been about two pints of cum everywhere. People say I cum like a pornstar, I wouldn't disagree with them. I throw her a towel so she can clean herself up then I do a triple backflip into my Maserati and drive home Breh has a shapeshifting car, came to a complete stop from 700mph and he said hit 40,000rpm I know it's satire, but holy shyt I haven't laughed this hard in a long time OT: When people say a bugatti can beat anything. Cudwieser
I'm not a car guy, so I don't talk cars with people at all, but I can appreciate the culture in so many different ways. That said, I absolutely hate colored rims. Maybe that's the opposite of what you intended for this conversation because I don't know how much of a "car person" thing colored rims is. To me, it's like dying only your sideburns green. What you're saying isn't quite what this thread is about. The thread is more a nerdish distain for inappropriate or illogical things non-car people say about cars. For the most part those that irk car people the most is feeling they need to chip in with false or partial knowledge of a car when in fact they know nothing (just like the pretentious idiots who join any conversation without first listening or asking about what is being said before imparting useless knowledge). Simpler things like not knowing a make of car irks some people but if you are merely asking then ask away. As for what you're saying Matchew, you are just stating a preference and highlighting a subculture within the car community. You admire the astetics of objects such as cars and have a view as to what would work. You like subtilty over the striking. Many car lovers share a similar view, especially classic car lovers, who let the car do the talking as opposed to making a statement and shouting about something that probably isn't. While you admit to not being a car fan I would guess if you were asked which car you would like to buy (money no object) would be this: than this P.s I'd say you are more of a car person than you are admitting;) . You just don't feel the need to shout about it or make it a thing

There will be war over such nonsense and narrow mindedness. I have to rant now, sorry: Manual gives more control. Auto is fine for cruising and for numpties with little care or consideration for their car (not to mention that gas is still cheaper in the US so the higher revving of an Auto isn't as big a deal). I really want to challenge the second statement on the grounds it is too insane to have actually been said. Even so Self Drive may take alot of distraction, but will generally miss some obvious and unforeseen risks (like human stupidity). Only Humans can counter humans as no machine has yet to show the wit, reaction, stupidity and blind luck of humans .
