OMG mods all banned?

Should mods be banned?

  1. 1. Should mods be banned?

    • Yes mods should be allowed for single player
    • I hate mods and rockstar are right to ban all mods

I always like SP mods and I would like to even see some MP mods that don't allow cheating. That being said I think all mods should be banned until Rockstar can make sure they can keep the cheaters from cheating.

I voted yes, but why not have an option for yes and mods in multiplayer? There are a tone of amazing mods that are for multiplayer and will make GTA O so much more fun. If R* let people mods their games most of the "Modder/Hacker/Glitchers" will move on to other mods. Such as LSPDFR, Zombie mods (When they are released) as well as all the other kinds of modding that is not harmful. The same thing happened when ArmA 3 and ArmaA 2 and GTA IV was launched. The modding community immediately made overpowered weapons/Vehicles/god mode/etc. mods for the players to use, and they were ABUSED for a while until better mods came out. Same thing is going to happen for GTA:O. Once people finally start getting full content mods youwill see less of the over powered abusive modders... Also I want to point out that most people on GTA 4 run trainers even if they didnt use them for god mode because they are handy as f*ck when cruising around town with buddys just goofing around.

I also think R* should add in a server browser. Than we could really get some cool mods things like Arma2/3 Wasteland/Roleplay (Police/Firefighters/Etc.) servers and we could find servers for things like Car Meets or impromptu races or even hunting servers (If madders add in hunting to Online which im sure they will.)

I'm sorry, I was distracted by your majestic profile picture.

Its okay, that happens a lot. I know its stunning and just... So itself when you look at it. But soon you will see it and understand that it is merely just a picture and it wont be all too distracting anymore!

This, in a nutshell. Personally, mods are the reason I PC game in the first place, but they do have the potential to ruin MP for legit players (as we've already seen). I'd love to see SP mods unlocked, but I'd also like to see some wiggle room for cosmetic mods in Online such as new outfits/car mods/weapon skins i.e. stuff which allows players to have a bit of individuality without breaking the game.

Basically, I want my houndstooth tux jacket, dammit! :p

im all for mods that enhance game play or visuals but some of the mods are purely for people to cheat and this should be banned online. only people who are going moan are the ones who like to cheat.

Play fair and keep silly mods for offline gaming and there is no issue :)

All mods in Multiplayer should be prohibited, although they should be permitted in Story mode.

It's probably a whole f*cking lot harder than you think to make mods work with sp but then not with mp...

If this is what they have to do to stop the script kitties from ruining online then they should do it. It's a sad reality. The only other solution that would come to mind is to have a separate architecture structure for online and sp and make you start them as separate apps like some games have done in the past but that's just stupid and a hassle imo.

Exactly. So there's two choices. 1) Disable all mods to keep the online going until they can make online work different than sp. Or 2) Not do anything until they can make online work different and in turn allow cheaters to keep cheating until they do and the number of cheaters keeps multiplying until they do.

I'll stick with option 1

Does this patch add anything significant? If not, couldn't you just downgrade to get the mods to work again, and update again when you want to play Online? Moreover, wouldn't that help keep modding separate from R*'s online?

Does everything in this game have to be a problem?

For years we had the same old faces bitching about the game not being released on PC and now it has, the same old faces bitching about this, that or the other

I fully understand people who complain that for a variety of reasons the game will not launch or crashes but this....no

Deal with it. If Rockstar do not want to allow you to mod, then you can't mod

Sorry if that has ruined an already decent game for you but life sometimes is not fair

sh*t I bought this game, them niggas at R* will do what I tell them coz i'm the customer, i'm the f*cking reason they can eat and pay their bills.

After you bought their game, you're their bitch. They can give you some lovin', they can slap yo as well. Doesn't mean you can't throw in a bitch fit, tho.

sh*t wasn't sarcasm homie. When you're a dev, you gotta listen to people who bought the game. You can't just say f*ck you to the fans and disable mods. Mods are a huge part of GTA, you can't just take them away...

So let me get this straight... if someone makes a new bike mod or something they can`t use it now because they could use it to cheat in Online somehow? They should have released GTA V and Online as separate entities and disabled mods for the Online only, none of this would matter.

Game recognizes mods as a mods. Or Rockstar does. Equal. So tiny mod for a tiny pistol = cheat engine for money hack.

.....Meanwhile Online Mode is the Sun. Everything revolves around the Sun, or Online Mode. Because it exists, GTA as we know it today is decimated. You think things will get better? Hell no. Thus, ONLINE IS RUINING THE SERIES! It's not Mods. It's not anything else besides Rockstar catering to your f*cking Virus Mode, called Online. It's a plague, it's trash, get rid of it. Single Player is what got GTA big in the first place. Single Player is what brought Rockstar their money from their fans over the past decade. ONLINE IS TRASH!

This is the Save Editor for PS3/360 all over again. Every Patch by Rockstar always tried to disable something that WAS ONCE USED for the Save Editor. But with each Patch, Rockstar nickle and dimed all the features away from it. Rendering ALL Patches complete garbage. Only 1.00 is king.

GTA IV + Episodes, including Chinatown Wars is your last good GTA Game. With the inception of V and it's almighty new Online Mode, watch this Series be ripped apart limb by limb and piece by piece.

No, I am not dramatic as this has been happen since October 2013, one month after it's first release. Maybe you guys don't understand since PC is the first time you bought it. But there has been all of this discussion for a long time. You are all late to the party...

Cosmetic mods which don't affect gameplay in any way shouldn't be banned.

ONLINE IS TRASH!

Sounds a bit like a pirate or either multiplayer mode hater. Online is here to bring brand new whole lot of time to gameplay after you finish storyline.

So much could've been added to this game with modding! There would've been exposure on the internet for years and years, just like arma. But now, who knows.

Rockstar's loss no matter if you like mods or not.

You should be allowed to use mods in single player, but not in multiplayer. Everyone knows it's gonna lead to cheaters and people who want to mess up other's games.

Online has long loading times, constant disconnections, and now it means no mods for single player - lol why did we even buy this game. Oh well, Witcher 3 in a couple of weeks.

online is completely unplayable between little kiddies and every 15 minutes failed to join errors... not to mention the sh*t boring sp game

oh well, mafia 3 is close

I say R* needs to make lobbies that allow mods. The people who mod will have their fun there. The people who keep complaining about mods can have their unmodded lobbies. :miranda: (R* will still make money from microtransactions off of these guys)

Win - win for everyone.

No, he is right.

All those customization options missing from SP, the contact missions, the races, the QoL features (including designating your own f*cking vehicle) etc., they should have been a part of post-story end-game single-player. If you wanna play with other people and screw around, fine, but all that content was stripped right from single-player to add grinds to GTAO (which, by-the-by, doesn't even try to obfuscate the fact that they're pushing the f*cking shark cards, with those ridiculously inflated prices on everything).

Never ever ever trust the people designing the game to make it fair, when they have a store that "skips the grind". They WILL make the grind almost unbearable to coerce you into buying their virtual nothings; there's nothing better than selling something that doesn't exist.

With Online in existence this is 100% impossible. Fire and Gasoline don't mix. Neither does Online and Single Player Mods. Can't be done. Online is trash, for the third time.

For that we need dedicated server support. Hope Rockstar adds it, so people can play in modded lobbies just like in GTA IV. I like this idea. :)

I don't see any problem with R* intending these features to be only for Online, mostly because myself I like MP titles much more than SP, so it's matter of opinion if you either decide to play Online or blame R* for not including these features for story mode. Yeah it's unfair, but we probably can't do anything about it.

Yet. With time, maybe, when GTA5 modding picks up properly, and R* manage to pull that stick out of their ass, multiplayer content/missions might be migrated to the real sandbox mode. I would look forward to the day, if I knew I wouldn't be completely burned out of the grind by then, and didn't know them by heart...

Really though, I don't mind MP as much as I mind the godawful netcode they're using... it seems to me like most of the time is spent in the cloud layer, while the game resolves existential crises that might plague it in the background.

The whole reason, I would say, so many people even bought this game for PC is because of the modding. Take that away and you lose a very large chunk of players. I'm not saying to allow mods in multiplayer. No. If people use mods in multiplayer, ban them. If they keep banning them, eventually it will stop. But people using them in SP is harmless, even beneficial. Look at GTA IV. It has a VERY long life that is still going on because modders kept it interesting. The same will happen in this game. I know that I waited for this release for a long ass time. I have a PS4 and could have gotten it a while ago, but I knew how much fun modding made GTAIV so I waited. First they screw us over by the CONSTANT delays. Now this. I was waiting until the middle of this month to pick it up. If this stands I might wait longer. If I want to play still I will save to hard drive space and just get it on PS4.

Rockstar is going the way of everything down to grocery stores these days. They want to tell you "or persuade heavily" what you do in your private life even. WalMart in my area decided for instance you don't need tuna in oil, or whole milk chocolate milk. So they quit carrying them. Everyone wants "your personal business" to be "their business" these days. Hence with gaming companies like Rockstar, and EA trying to controll your offline gaming. It won't quit as long as we all continue to fund them, and simply complain about it. They care less how you feel, as long as you continue buying. "simple fact". I personally love the creativity MODS brings, but I also like tuna in oil, and whole milk chocolate milk! lol :miranda:

One silly thing for example with GTA 5 on PS3. I steal a motorcycle "obviously I am not a law biding citizen?" lol They shove a dam helmet on my head, over, and over. I am a "bad guy" yet I observe the "safety first" law? ROFL (AND YES. I have helmets turned off.) I can mess with settings and stop it. Til I do a mission, or relaunch game. lol

But people using them in SP is harmless

Doesn't matter. Online is a Glitch Factory. In fact, all of V is a Glitch Factory. In this Glitch Factory, there is giant holes that you can drive a truck through. These holes lead to Online. Anything from Single Player can be brought to Online via glitching and exploiting. Thus, even in Single Player, those f*cking assholes who keep ruining everything for everyone will find a way to get their sh*t in Online, thus we can't have nice things in Single Player. If Online exists, you're all f*cked.

Personally, I have this game for PS3 and on Version 1.00. I am not into modding one bit. I do all my playthroughs to 100%, 0 Deaths/Busted/Cheats/Mission Failures and a Special Vehicle Collection. Having mods or cheats touch my Saves is against MY rules for MY Game Saves.

But if others want to mod, why not? But because Rockstar doesn't know how to patch their own damn game and the problems which occur from Single Player to Online, you will never be able to do what you want. Everything revolves around Online if you like it or not.

All this Social Club nonsense, they want you to be connected. It's not like when III, VC, SA, LCS, VCS was released. Now it's all about Online and a MATURE game being given to 10 year olds. Face it, times changed and the series took a nose dive off a 100 story building in October 2013 and has been falling ever since.

You guys probably just don't get what's going on cuz you're 1 year+ late to the party. We had these discussions and talk for over a year now. We could smell this nonsense coming from a mile away...

If you guys were here back in the PS3 release, around Patch 1.07, they patched NOS. That's right, you could get NOS in Vehicles with the Save Editor. But since little f*cking baby 10 year olds were taking NOS Vehicles from Single Player to Online, they f*cking patched even for Single Player, thus the only way to use it is 1.00. Blame the community and blame Online for ALL the problems in V we have today.
